  1. Have to agree with the positive comments on Chris Hogg, some guys never come back from the injury he took and over the game he worked really well with the rest of the defence and he helped with a key element which was the better release of the ball forward from all the defensive and midfield guys. Ojamaa is quick and he was looking to go down for any contact all day so the penalty could have happened to any of the guys. The quick and accurate ball forward has been a key part of our sucess and allows Andy Shinnie and Billy Mackay to run at defences and create the chances. Its been missing recently but was back with a vengeance on Saturday. Agree with tm4tj we could had six against a really good side. I have had my say about midfield recently and I'm not going to name players or diss anyone but suffice to say I was delighted with this line up, which gets the best out of Ritchie and Ross Draper.
  2. When we're really up against it, we become what we should be all the time. 3 months to live and still here two years later, some guts. All the best to him - still got a sense of humour too. Nice touch with the shirt. If he is introduced to the crowd I do hope all ICT fans give him a big hand. Respect.
  3. Superb first 30 mins, maybe the best of the season. The wee man could have finished it then to make it 4 - 0 but he's lacking confidence these days and dithered - again. Things went a bit lumpy then and at 3 all I thought we'd blown it and was shouting for Sutherland to come on as a target and to run at them. With the penalty miss I thought here we go again but Billy was back on form and that might just be the goal that makes all the difference. Ojamaa deserved to go as he was at it all day and penalty looked soft. Nearly lost my voice but what a win against a very good side. Jaisus we don't make it easy on ourselves though do we? Shame Dundee Utd couldn't even draw at home but we're still in the driving seat and that perfomance showed plenty of grit so bring it on.
  4. Well said Kingsmills "team playing with bravery, passion and no little skill". That's what we need tomorrow.
  5. Brilliant clip. Now your talking my language!! I still have the original 1969 single on Reprise Records. You've made my day mate.
  6. Superb CapitalCaley, THAT is one scary mob!!.
  7. Shane worth a shout as we need to create something going forward and give the Motherwell defence something to deal with. Midfield and attack needs to really get stuck in too. We can't play powderpuff in midfield and up front like we did at St J leaving constant pressure on our defence, as Motherwell have so many more attacking options. Higdon has come on this season a bit like Hartson at his best and the only way you can try to deal with that is a physical match, or the nearest you've got to one. Meekings to do what he did pretty well against Ngoo? Higdon obviously superior player to Ngoo but not sure what else we could do? If we can get a bit of our old counter attacking speed back, we might create enough chances to get something. Or Motherwell might be enjoying all the plaudits too much and take a fall... he said...hopefully
  8. Actually he's a really decent bloke and a fine stiker of the dead ball. I just hope he has a stinker if he plays.
  9. The legend, the flawed hero, the one and only Pele
  10. Ms Smith sounds like she could do with a few drinks and a day out...
  11. Dont be daft guys. Summer football would require the football authorities to do something they are totally and possibly genetically incapable of - make a decision.....
  12. A 12 kick off, live on TV and there was only 2300 at St J for a really crucial late season game. TV timings and TV itself is killing football off anyway. Now its even turning much cherished Saturday afternoon derbies into Sunday brunch time travails. There appears to be no-one on the side of football fans at all, including most of the clowns in charge of the game. One day soon will there be a day when there's no-one in the ground at all just the teams, three 'pundits' and a camera man.
  13. I guess (hope) the background work has been going on for a while and judging from last season you can sign a lot of guys pretty quickly when you have everything set up. If we can get some players near the calibre of Warren, Meekings, Draper, Mackay to fill the gaps we might have, we should be pretty competitive next season.
  14. Personal opinion. At game time, managers should be in suits. Tracksuits (and strange long padded coats that look like you've just been rescued) are for training.
  15. Midfield is fine? I'm away to get my head seen to as I've clearly been watching another team these past few weeks.... decent service to the front has almost completely dried up. That's not the defences job, it's midfield's. Billy has been left chasing aimless clearances rather than the good through balls he was getting. We've given too much space to opposing midfielders to get the ball down and play, putting all the pressure on our defence. Is it the players form or the managers tactics - debate? Anyway IMO that's where our problem was in the cup semi and our biggest problem in the games we've been poor in since.
  16. With so many in key positions signed up for next season, I'm less concerned at who goes out of the rest. Change is needed, as form generally over the past two months has shown and we need to give guys like Pepper a proper chance at some point or help move them on. Personally I'd like to try a grafter/ball winner & foot on the ball/passer combination in midfield (it served Pele well for years) and we don't have that currently with the options we have. We need to get back to being able to give our front men some service as this has almost completed dried up lately. Stop these directionless long ball clearances missing out midfield, I want to see us back to quick passes into Billy's feet again and he'll put them away.
  17. Willie Collum?????? things just got even worse
  18. Agree with the praise for the other guys, but in support of Terry: Recent form aside, as well as some of the performances (especially October/November - apart from Motherwell) maybe Terry's decison to stick with the SPL got him some backing from managers. The media certainly made a big thing of it and it maybe validated the job as a manger in Scottish football in the eyes of some of the other managers. Quite a few did mention that at the time. I know its about peformance of the team - but for me he's been entertaining with the media but also said his piece well, Not denying RC have performed above many's expectations but around derby/cup games Terry handled Adams superbly and made him look a right greetin divvy.
  19. According to our political leaders (during the recent Rangers meltdown) these two clubs are 'great Scottish institutions' and it would be disastrous if they were to move away. This will of course be 'only a small minority' causing the trouble - last night, in Manchester, amongst themselves etc... Of course they have many decent fans, but both clubs have always had a smirk when talking of dealing with bigotry. Its always been more than a rivalry and more than football, its the very reason they both exist and sadly it's why no-one else will probably ever have them. Last night was a minor skirmish and we've seen worse recently in England but it still depressing for our game, already low in many eyes, again tainted with this nonsense.
  20. Who was (is) the guy who used to run backwards even faster than most refs could run forwards? He should be mentioned for hilarity value alone. I would have mentioned Craig Thomson as one of the best of a poor lot - before Saturday but I see TB has now accepted the decision was right At the game I thought it was more a clash of legs in a chase for the ball but I did wonder at DR's lack of appeal at the time.
  21. Sadly I can't see any weaknesses in the Motherwell side right now. Hate to mention they got hammered up the road in Feb, maybe we need to sneak in with a tractor and make the pitch a right midden...
  22. Good point about certain clubs complaining of lack of income and debt worries, then offering higher wages than clubs who stick within a balance the books budget.
