Sounds like an experimental system that didn't work today. Back to 4-2-3-1 please. Don't repeat this formation.Watkins was apparently isolated and Ofere needs to be played to get used to the system. Real opportunity missed and didn't give it a go. Echos of the league cup match against Rangers. Lack of ambition. Shame there's a break now.

I have some sympathy for Billy. Unless there is something of a miracle at Wigan, he'll be in League 1 next season and it looks like he's the bench-warmer just now. A classic case of a misfiring team with problems all over the park - I know! let's bring in a goalscorer (and leave him on the bench), that'll solve it. Still, at least he's earning decent dosh just now.

JH is undeterred. Hope he's right and we turn out in numbers! http://sport.stv.tv/football/314474-inverness-manager-sympathises-with-fans-over-scottish-cup-early-kick-off/

....they've now appealed McGowan's red. Making a mockery of the system!
-
Try as they might to stop us from attending, we'll find a way to get to Hampden!
-
..and some red cards, which can only help us!

....BBC get it wrong??!! They'll probaby have it down as Celtic/Dundee Utd v Ross County......you know - that team that Ryan Christie plays for!
-
my turn to be a pedant - we already have (12) at number (5)!

1. Avoiding automatic relegation spot (earliest ever for us in top flight) 2. Top 6 assured (earliest ever) 3. Cannot be relegated (earliest ever) 4. ICT record for longest time without conceding a goal(616 minutes) 5. Joint record for number of Manager of the Month awards (2 for JH) 6. First semi-final as top flight side 7. 3rd semi-final in a row 8. Yet another season finishing above the shadowdwellers!! Taking a punt on this one until Sneckboy corrects me: 9. Record number of Young Player of the Year awards (2 for Ryan Christie)?

That is truly shocking! Wait till Charlie sees that - he'll be spitting mad. Imagine if Liam Henderson was mistaken for a rangers player..

Congratualtions to all those of you who correctly indicated that the SFA review panel would not uphold Cifci's "conviction". What is the point in all this nonsense? For me, the outcome should have been: 1. Cifci - guilty as charged 2. Van Dyke - guilty as charged 3. Paton - acquitted (mistaken identity) 4. Butcher - guilty of Paton's crime 5. Connelly - guilty of diving 6. (more questionable) - Brown guilty of a dangerous tackle Only the decision on Paton was correct - FARCE!!!

...interesting to read the posts from Raith supporters on P&B - they're raging at their negativity and pretty complimentary about our play. Most intersting of all is that stat that the teams that have put Raith out in the last few seasons have gone on to win the cup....here's hoping!
-
Semis-finals should not be at the national stadium because it detracts from the honour of getting there for the final! This is particularly true in Scotland when very few teams will have sufficient support to generate a decent atmosphere in such a large stadium. However, the SFA rules are what they are and, despite my reservations above, I'm delighted the players will get to play there - I just hope it is twice in quick succession!
-
Yes, the ref was as good as I've seem for a while at TCS. Didn't get over-excited and flash cards at every tackle. Mind you, it was a straightforward match to ref - no contentious decisions and very few fouls.

The 4-4-2 was quite effective, with width from Shinnie and Raven, who hugged the touchline throughout. The only problem with it is that Raven isn't quick enough to make an impact when he receives the ball so deep and we generally didn't get it to him quick enough to give him space. I would really like to see us playing 4-2-3-1, with Ofere up top and Doran and Watkins wide, Christie in behind. Christie didn't have his best last night.

Excellent - in control of the game throughout (despite the inevitable wobble at the back late on). Should have been many more, except for woeful finishing. Ofere looked good, Kink had a good run but otherwise was pretty rusty. Another semi - what a season!
-
Fair play - this is what I was worried about (Monday isobar chart), but in fairness, it's a great day do far!

First....win against Raith. Second, hope Celtic and United continue to accumulate red cards. Then whip whoever wins.

I think the biggest benefit would come from TV money.I suppose the theory is that there is less sporting competition for TV audiences, so Sky and BT might entertain a decent contract for Scotland to satisfy a year-long appetite. Savings would include reduced need for floodlighting. The international and European timetable is a consideration, but other countries manage it.

...maybe on Tuesday, but big storm to hit on Monday and the ground already saturated...
-
Looks like it'll be no better on Tuesday!
-
...and there you have it! I'm not sure how much the postponement will cost, but given the difficulties faced by home, and particularly away, fans for a Tuesday night game, coupled with many preferring not to brave the elements and to watch the CL instead, will make for a crowd reduction of ~1000 IMO. It's simple, Scottish football cannot compete with winter weather and better football on Sky. Summer football would avoid both these issues.
