So if Storey is back and cleared in time, do we start him? If so, what does that mean for the team? If he plays off White or Todorov, does Keatings drop out? Or does he play wide, perhaps in place of Doran! I’m enjoying a relaxing night in Dundee with a few beers before strolling to Tannadice tomorrow for what I hope will be a good 90 minutes for us on my birthday, but I’m fearing the worst!

Not seen any reports confirming this: is it a done deal?

Hopefully a return to Tannadice is the tonic Donaldson needs to get back on form. He enjoys putting one over them!

Can’t argue with that but suspect White will start ahead of Toddy. We badly need Welsh back though.

Anyone know who the trialist was who was right back in the 2-1 defeat to the junior team in Nairn? Machado scored our goal. McHattie, MacGregor and Mackay all played.
-
Presumably the 9 loanees cannot play so what on earth will our team be?

Anyone make it along? Was it a good afternoon?

Sounds like I was lucky I was unable to watch it! I’m going to Tannadice next weekend so hopefully we are more accomplished there. Sounds like a poor goal to lose and too much route one tactics. Some bookings too. Two years running we have known what we needed to do playing on the Sunday and have blown it live on tv. At least we are unlikely to get bids for players in the remainder of the transfer window if we were as bad as the comments imply. That said, I’m still worried we will see a bid for Donaldson in August. Hope I’m wrong

Can I change my first Dundee scorer to Nelson please. Cheers!

Even if we win the group, we will be unseeded so will face one of Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, Hibs, Motherwell, Livingston or..... County. Not sure if being unseeded means we are away or whether we can get a home draw.

I don’t know how many of our youngsters played, but Fort William lost 6-0 at Brora today. Probably an improvement on their result there last season.
-
Anything other than a defeat in 90 minutes will see us through: the four best runners up currently have 8 or 9 points. Our goal difference is better than East Fife’s, currently the fourth best runner up. Hopefully we don’t play for a draw but set out to win the game.

The headline to the article on the club website says they are on loan. I don’t think the word “loan” appears in the article though.

This arrangement is effectively keeping Fort William alive so is unlikely to be replicated, particularly with the distance between most Highland League teams and SPFL teams. Really only Aberdeen or County who may replicate it. It is a good way to keep our youngsters with the club, give. Their success last season and potential, whereas previously many may have been released. Will they still appear for our under 18s Mackay, MacGregor, Harper and Machado must be fully fledged first team members now as they are not involved.
-
Presumably that rules them out of appearing for us. The nine are Martin MacKinnon, Donald Morrison, Gabriel Hastings, Ryan Fyffe, Harry Nicolson, Jack Brown, Kieran Chalmers, Ross Gunn and Roddy Kennedy. Having been brought up in Fort William, I hope this gives them stability and our lads experience so all benefit.

Robert replied to MrCaleyjag's topic in Caley Thistle
I’m not so sure. Rooney in particular used to play well forward for a right back and Tremarco likes to get forward. Issue may be more that we are lacking Welsh sitting in front of Donaldson and McCart so they are less protected as a result. -

Thanks for that. So really we started our top 11 other than Welsh. Sunday will let us see how we are likely to cope in the league. Peterhead and Cove are decent teams, probably better than the leagues they are in, but if we deal with Dundee we can be reasonably confident about the league season. If we don’t, particularly if they are clearly better than us, it could be squeaky bum time. Hopefully not! -

At least we are making chances: 24 attempts with 12 on target. -

And Todorov nets his second in two games off the bench. Top of the group if we can hold on. Are we playing any better now? -

Need to turn this round or we are facing embarrassment. Although ironically a win in 90 at Dundee would still see us win the group. Not sure how realistic a thought that is though!
