Preview : St Mirren (A) : 06/01/18
With Vigurs suspended and Seedorf presumably still injured, will Raven get a final game at right back? I suspect not, with my guess of a line up: Ridgers Mckay, Warren, Donaldson, Tremarco Polworth, Trafford, Chalmers Mulraney, Oakley, Doran Time will tell.

No real surprise, thanks.

David Raven
It would be good if he realises the esteem he is held in by the fans for all he has done for the club during his time here. He moves on with my thanks and best wishes for the future.

Thanks, that's what I heard on the radio earlier. It would be interesting to know what else was said but not broadcast.

I saw a reference on a different thread to a video of his interview: is it available on line? I heard part of an interview with Charles Bannerman on the local news on Radio Scotland earlier, in which he was asking where the money had gone from the cup final win and Christie's transfer. I hope there was also a positive bit in the interview so would like to see or hear it all. Thanks RiG for posting the videos: great memories of a great club servant.

Caley Jags 2017/18 squad + changes in/out
Going way off topic (sorry mods) but was it you that was thanked by the Skippinish singer for all the work behind the scenes at the event at the Northern Meeting Park on Hogmanay? If so, very well done. It was a tremendous event.

He is available on Saturday and referred to the match on Twitter. The club have retweeted it so his message is on the club website.

Red arrows don't worry me: we are all entitled to our views. I agree with you: talking your way to a booking is unacceptable, but I really don't believe he did that today, and if the twitter feed is right that backs up my initial view. I just hope the highlights are extensive enough to let us see the incidents again. But we would have caved in if that game was early in the season, so it shows how the ship is steadied. Hopefully the play offs are a realistic target. Tongue in cheek, we might start flying when we keep 11 on the park for 90 minutes! Is that seven red cards now? Seedorf, Warren, Trafford, Vigurs, Raven, Tremarco and now Vigurs again?

That's very true. I wish him all the best. I hope he gets a decent package at a club close to home so he can settle with his family. Thanks for the commitment and, especially, the memories Dave! I will never forget the winner in the cup semi and the sheer look of delight and astonishment on his face in the celebration.

I think posters are split on this. I didn't think he deserved two yellows and the ref took the easy option. I want to see the first one again, as it was right in front of me and, as I said earlier, I think it could only have been for a challenge which the ref played advantage at. I followed the ball and saw Polly's tackle, immediately followed by the two bookings. I know he picks up too many bookings, but I'm not blaming him today. We play better when he is in the side.

Ten out of ten for commitment to all 14 players on the park today. I've no idea what Vigurs was booked for. I think it was an attempted rash challenge which the ref played advantage to. The card was waved straight after Polworth s challenge, so he had no time to mouth off. Neither protested the bookings at the time which was medicated they were both deserved. The second booking was harsh as it was a fair ball to go for. Until the sending off, we were on top, playing decent stuff and quite comfortable. After the goal, the defence did well, especially Mckay, Donaldson (who was carrying an injury for most of the game) and Warren. Mulraney was sacrificed at half time, with Calder slotting in at left back, then moved forward after Chalmers was injured and Raven came on. Trafford, Polworth and Calder all worked very hard to protect the defence, and the tactic of leaving two up eased the pressure also. Oakley worked hard, but never got any real breaks for the tough treatment he was getting. Doran took his goal well and also chased hard. Austin looked good when he came on. Despite being down to 10, we had a couple of decent chances. A point blank attempt would have gone in if it had not been a clean contact, and Polworth came very close with a shot. Doran also hit the top of the bar in the first half, although it may have been a cross. But for Vigurs harsh dismissal, I am confident we would have won. After the dismissal we did very well to nearly close the game out. It was good that Raven could take a bow, albeit quite modestly, at full time too, and he was the sponsor's man of the match. I'd have picked Mckay myself, closely followed by Donaldson and Warren. But as I said at the outset, all the players deserve plaudits for their work rate and commitment. We'd have lost that one earlier in the season.

Watched the highlights. Really don't see how Tremarco got two yellows. Some of the build up to the second and third goals was great: Baird's flick for the second and Dinakdsin's touch for the third. Looking overall at what is available on screen, I thought Polworth did pretty well on the whole, although I think nderatabd the comments about Brechin's second: that said, 99 times out of 100 that shot would have ended up in the stand. Looking forward to the Livingston game now.

If Seedorf is fit, I'd expect Raven at left back. If not, Raven logically would start at right back with Chalmers possibly at left back, and Trafford starting. Oakley deserves to start up front, and given recent comments on here, should Polworth be rested with Trafford taking his place? Assuming Seedorf makes it, that gives a starting 11 of: Ridgers Seedorf, Mckay, Donaldson, Raven Trafford, Vigurs, Chalmers Mulraney, Oakley, Bell

Ex-ICT players' news
Whilst I have no time for either club he has been at since he left, sorry to hear that Jonny Hayes broke his leg in Celtic's game against Dundee in a challenge with Josh Meekings. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

Most Improved Player of 2017
Looking at the new signings first: Ridgers: much improved after a shaky start. Donaldson: a class act. He also cares deeply. His celebration at Tannadice was great to watch against his former team. Bell: a bit inconsistent, but chipping in with valuable goals. Trafford: looks good, but I feel we have yet to see what he can really do. Seedorf: looked good until he got suspended and injured. Feedback from Saturday was good, so fingers crossed! Chalmers: has developed pretty well. I really enjoyed his performance at Dundee United. Baird, Oakley and Calder: cannot fault Baird's commitment, but none delivering consistently. Elbouzedi: sounded positive preseason. Remains to be seen if he will add quality. Zschussen: not seen him play and sounds like I am the lucky one ? Cooper and Elsdon: won't complain if both leave in January. Turning to those here last season: Fon Williams: any interest from anywhere? It is time for him to move on. Mackay: seems the regular back up now which is good, presumably leaving Esson purely as a coach come the summer. Raven: shame he is off, but he goes with my best wishes and leaves a lot of memories. Tremarco: really surprised he signed an extension, but delighted he did. Arguably he should take on the captaincy when Warren not playing, as his workrate and commitment set a great example. Mckay: the most improved of those here last year. He and Donaldson are doing well as a pairing. Warren: still a big figure, but rightly taking a back seat on current form. Vigurs: gets some stick, but real quality and he cares. We really need him. Polworth: inconsistent, but his potential is clear. Here's to a big second half of the season from him! Mulraney: has had a decent half season, Doran: good to see him back, and I'm sure he will be starting soon. Hope I've not missed anyone! It was good to see young Daniel Mackay feature a couple of times. If the play offs (at both ends) seem unlikely, hopefully he and other youngsters get some game time. All in all, we are in a better place than a few months ago, and hopefully push on, starting at Brechin on Saturday.
