  1. Terry made 1 bad call in the final game in playing Ross centre half instead of Pavels. But we had chances to draw level. We could have won the week before. Ross might not have been sent off. Its done now. Since November the team has started to gel and it's pretty much Terry's team now. I think it's only fair to give him another season. Dundee have spent big (more than any other team outwith Celtic) so were no doubt going to be favourites and Ross County have strong finances. No team since hibs in 99 has bounced straight back up and they are a much bigger club who should never have went down. Get the manager signed up and the players will follow suite (if offered deals) but we need to start planning. And when a club has a limited budget there will always be the occasional duff player. Pele is a legend but is anyone suggesting he never signed a bad player? or Robertson. Neither of them had to deal with relegation for the 1st time in our history.
  2. Im always up for giving players a chance, and whilst LDZ does have speed and crazy charges forward, I wouldn't mind a solid reliable no nonsense no frills left back. He's the type of player who it's kind of 50-50 whether he'd struggle to get another SFL club or get into a top 6 SPL team. He's that unpredictable. Im not a huge fan but hey, he plays for ICT so i gotta back him.... Just bemoan the manager for picking him I guess! Some people be getting tetchy over a milk spillage on here tonight eh. Handbags at dawn! :017:
  3. I'd agree with the OP. I think it just as important to get Hayes, Cox on longer deals. Sign Bully. Get Tokely and the other lads signed up asap also. We're creating a good nucleus of players and we need continuity if we are to have any success, this season or next. To do this we need to get our best players on contracts. Don't make the same mistake we made with Cowie, Black etc and leave it too late.
  4. Bulvitus and Hayes have been the stand outs for me. Both have stteled in and become key players. I always thought Rooney had the potential and is now setting about showing it. DZ has stepped down a level and hasn't improved from last season. Still a bombscare.
  5. He could have been in management before now though. (pressley) I like the guy though so good luck to him. Eddie May is a bit of a toss. Glad he's gone.
  6. Pretty sure he has played a few games. But that Ruddy has been pretty good I believe.
  7. Council Juice replied to RiG's topic in General Football
Yeah good luck to the man. Hope he does well there. And perhaps a few years down the line he comes back and passes on the knowledge to our young strikers in a coaching capacity. " This is how you do the shuffle"
  8. Totally forgot to take any hosts into account. Do'h! So the 2 hosts, 9 winners, 4 play off winners and the best runner up from the qualifiers. Simples!
  9. The original crossbar challenge
  10. Did it say anything about a termination fee? I'll be chuffed if we got rid of him for free. I'm sure any fee he got would have been nominal. Through mutual agreement so that he could join another club. It won't have been anywhere near the 18 months he'd be due if we had cancelled his contract against his will.
  11. :blah01: Na, not entirely won over but you have to give the man some credit... we asked for a responce and he's given one. There are still a lot of unanswered questions but unless he is bare faced lying (always a possibility)... 2 very important facts to pick out from his statement: 1) There is no debt 2) There is money in the bank Did the financials not show a different story though? I thought the financials showed that although we made a loss, but we are still in the black I believe. I could be totally wrong though.
  12. Nigel(the windswept root vegetable) Francis Quashie (pronounced /ˈnaɪdʒəl ˈkwɑːziː/ KWAH-zee, born 20 July 1978) plays for Queens Park Rangers of the Football League Championship. He's just rejoined them on the 22nd of January and has played 3 times thus far. It was his 1st pro club. I remember he had a sweet ping on him.
  13. The 6 points dont really count for anything against the 6th seeds. It only means we have a free weekend when everyone else is playing. Was the group with Italy, France and Ukraine not a 6 team group anyway? Am I right in thinking top 9 go through leaving 7 spots which means top runner up goes through and the rest go to play offs? Or is it just the top 7 runners up who qualify?
  14. Pay attention to voices in background to Scott Brown. No suprise our goalie gets one of the closest
  15. Agreed with you about Spain there. I dont fancy playing them on the wide open hampden pitch though. Scotland have to play to their strengths outside the lack of technical ability. George Burley didn't get this and it cost him the job. The Czechs may be a technically superior team, as most central European teams are, but they are no world beaters and unless we fancy our chances against them there is no point turning up.
  16. Some of those are great for the right reasons. They are the pinnacle of footballing skill. I'm thinking more things that shouldn't happen. Are perhaps wrong but still enhance the game. Another Chick/Smith interview Rivaldo v turkey and of course Scotlands personal favourite -
  17. Im not to unhappy with that. Would have preferred an easier team than the holders but you've got to play someone big. The Czechs are nowhere near the standard we once were. Have we not got a friendly arranged with them? Will it now go ahead? We have to focus on taking maximum points against Lithuania and Leichenstien. We need the full 12 to have any chance of 2nd realistically. We also need to make Hampden a fortress against the Cechs. We could beat them at home as we did Ukraine. Anything we get from Spain is a bonus. They are traditionally notoriously good in qualifying and will be aiming for maximum points, or at least should be. Following the draw, There were 4 teams left and England and Croatia were still there. I fancied Croatia as they are probably the weakest top seed along with Portugal I'd say. But I really wanted England. That would be a clash to relish. However as usual England handed a diddy group with which they should be disappointed to drop any points in.
  18. I was thinking of football moments that for usually the wrong reasons are really great. Christian Daillys thoughts on how the Germans plaeyed one night first came to mind. He also had an opinion on Tobias Rau's miss - please note that neither of these are exactly nice opinions that Christian Dailly had of the Germans. He had a potty mouth but he gets his point across so well. In other words dont look if Mummy says so.
  19. I used to enjoy James Richardson taking us through the Italian sports papers on the Saturday morning with the highlights, then watching whatever game was on, on the Sunday noon. James Richardson does coverage for someone else now. Dunno how he's not a big shot, as he really knew his stuff unlike alot of the flash, Dougie Viponds you get nowadays. That Parma team was immense. And they had a snassy strip, including a really sweet European one (I think) that I wanted but never got. I also wanted (and still do) a Monterrey shirt as it had the sponsor BIMBO emblassened across the front. Classic!
  20. Oh Goodie!
  21. He defo said he was a boyhood Liverpool fan. Liverpool also have a strong Irish link, like Celtic, but don't harp on about it as much. They were originally Liverpools Catholic team although have moved on from such medievil past-times. I think it was just funny him saying almost exactly the same thing about both clubs. Such a suck up. I do agree that it's perfectly acceptable to follow clubs in other countries. I like to follow Everton and Birminghams results. And Cardiff. In the past I really liked AC Milan and Ajax but Football Italia and Gazetta Italia finished on channel 4, and Ajax lost all the players I liked. Im still more fond of them than their national counterparts though and want them to win.
  22. Ha Ha! Serves the wee numpty right.
  23. With two front players going it might be worth looking at. Dropping down a level might be good for him and he certainly has the experience for it. Though I still dont know if thats all wishful thinking on my part. Is he past his best or just in need of a fresh start. Perhaps being back in the familiar surroundings of Inverness, among fans who love him, players who he knows well, would bring out the best in him.
  24. It was apparently a boyhood dream to play for Liverpool when he signed for them. And he was in his peak in the summer of 2008. Now he always wanted to play for Celtic and has reached his peak a year and a half later. If anything his career has dwindled. Couldnt get in a team with one striker then refunded to Tottenham (effectively) and hasn't been able to hold down a 1st team spot there. In fact 'Arry Redknapp has, seemingly, went out of his way to knock him down the pecking order with the purchase of Crouch, Defoe and now the loan signing of Gudjohnsen. Though I do agree he was/is a top player and his record for ROI show this. (only 9 goals from being the top scorer ever in the british Ilses.)
  25. I think it would probably be of benefit to either offer Terry and Mo a new 1 year extension now (on reduced SFL wages) or line up a new manager now and ask them who they want to try and keep. I'd offer Tokely a new 2 year extension. I'd assume Foran would have no interest in 1st division football again so that would be up for Terry or new guy to decide. On the subject of Vigurs, as far as Im aware no extension has been signed. Or at least he wasn't listed among those who had done when I was reading the paper. Gary Wood has, I noticed that much.
