  1. I can totally empathise with this sentiment. It started for me much earlier. I've always been a bit of an armchair follower anyway. Or part timer. But since we got promoted and games in general started getting more expensive I just stopped really going to games full stop. And away games were much more available to me given my location. I had Hibs and Hearts in my city and could have attended those games but both those clubs charge a fortune. I used to be able to get through to Glasgow, watch ICT play, back and it was still cheaper than an Edinburgh brief. I keep telling myself that Im going to improve but have yet to do so. But as RiG says, football isn't the priority in my life to go and see the team play.

Yep, Manny, for me Sanchez is a creative force, but still has improving to do. Needs to be played in the right way. Agree with that comments, I love it how he gets dropped by some for not doing much, well again IMO that Esson chaps the same, just stands in the box and doesnt really do much...... I think Sanchez clearly has talent but like alot of our squad is a touch rough around the edges. I wouldn't say he merits being dropped. And I agree totally regarding Esson. Cant remember last time he popped up with a goal.
  3. Oh thats easy... the last 3. I think nowadays people are less willing to spend money on the things they realise they can do without. Add to the fact "its this time of year" ticket prices are more expensive than they used to be (in general) food, fuel all more expensive. I wish I was 14 again. Cheap trains/buses and cheap football. Trust me, your friend has it lucky at 14.
  4. I remember Dida used to be a fairly good penalty stopper. But given his stature (as Craig Burley said "something like 6 foot 6") he should able to save a fair few. He didn't even appear to attempt for that free kick. Its something Milan have lacked for years is a good dependable 'keeper. Abiatti is erractic. Sometimes good sometimes ridiculously bad. And then they had a Kalec - the number 3 Oz keeper. An older guy - Rossi I think. None of them are really any good though. Then you look across the City(in the sense its the other team) and they've had an abundance of top keepers. Paliuca, Peruzzi, Toldo and now Julio Cesar. Inter were superb with 10 men. It was another tactical masterclass from Mourinho.
  5. Crazy, just kicked off. I hate the american commentary.
  6. True dat. Its relative to the money in the game. The players are the cattle or the goods.
  7. Its because Italian football realises people can have fun and not nesscessarily be dangerous. Good game. Had a feeling that Julio Cesaer would save Rons pen. Wes Snjeider was ace until he decided to show his admiration of the ref. Dont know what Dida was doing for the free kick. It was well taken and on target but almost right at him and he never even dived for it. I've never really rated him.
  8. Read article in Sunday broadsheet sports column pull out (cant remember which 1 like) that with his contract being up at end of season, he's not sure if he's gonna stay, not only as he's not been offered a contract but because he feels he is still young and wants to play at a higher level. Im getting a touch worried. Offer the lad a 5 year deal to get him to see out his career here. 1 year for every 100 games he's played for us.
  9. He should be one of the 1st to be offered a new deal, before bringing anyone else in as well. We need to keep a hold of great servants like Tokely and Munro or we'll lose all the team identity we have. They know what the club is about and that will be vital if we are to ever get out of this league.
  10. He's pretty much spot on by calling him a boot licking though. And in hindsight Neville was a bit moronic in coming out before the game as it did nought but rile Tevez up and make him desperate to gun Utd down. Tevez comes across in a very says what he's thinking type. I think he wanted to point out also he had nothing against United, just Neville for needlessly talking about him. I dont think Tevez is the brightest. He comes across a bit slow (properly, like medically, slow) He still can hardly speak a wod of English to his own admission - thats after 3 and a half years. On other points I dont see Tevez and Rooney as all that much alike other than their near identical goals to games ratio this season. Rooney plays with more tact and is as well as looking to score, tries to play others in (He has a fairly high assist rate). Tevez chases everything for 80 minutes. You'll often notice by this point he'll be knackered and gets subbed. He reminds me of the Tazmanian Devil cartoon- Very eager, but doesn't play with intelligence, however creates havoc in his wake. He looks quite similar to Taz too. As for his valuation, yeah ?25 million* is pretty steep and United had already paid ?6m* towards the loan. so ?31* million in total plus wages. Probably too much. However he will get 20 goals a season if given a run and the United fans wanted him to stay. ?34m for Berba. Bit of a rip off. Take 15 of that and you've got a much closer valuation. However sometimes I think alot of his play goes unnoticed. He may not score the hatfuls that would be expected but his all round game in hold up play and bringing others into the game is very good. I too think it will be more to do with Man U's defensive losses than attacking woes that will see them lose the league. But another 10-20 goals might have helped that. Who knows. Frankly I wonder if City do become the force they aim to be then I'm not sure Tevez would be 1st choice any longer. The likes of Kaka, Eto'o may be more willing to join if Man City are winning things. But it was still a pretty funny read irregardless on whether its correct or not. (*these are estimated sums based on tabloid valuations)
  11. What, like Dundee?
  12. As ever great help. Thankyou. I will do my upmost to let him know of his life failings.
  13. Read and applaud -Tevez bites back "He acted like a complete boot-licker when he said I wasn't worth ?25m, just to suck up to the manager," he added. :D
  14. Utterly farcical decision. Rules were broken and thepunishment was set. It seemed entirely fair that if you can't follow a simple rule then you get removed from the competition. Once again the SFA have shown themselves as toothless and incompetant. And Dunfermline will no doubt profit from this by playing the game again and getting through to face Celtic I believe. I think the least they can do is give all gate receipts from the 1st game to Stenny because they'll make a hatful from the Celtic game. Lets have set rules and set punishments - no appeal system. You make an error, your out (or whatever the punishment is set at) Make another error at a later date and banned for a year! No wonder Scottish football is sometimes viewed as Mickey Mouse.
  15. Cheers, keep 'em coming thick n fast.
  16. Pleasantly suprised he was only booked 85 times in his 499 appearances for the club. Thats less than Black used to get in a season!
  17. One of my friends has recently moved up North and has started frequenting Ross County games , so I was wondering if anyone has that picture of the caravan and plane. Or any other amusing wind ups used over the years that I can hit him with all at once to show him the error of his ways.

  19. Its not like it's never happened before though. Rangers were beating Hibs 1-0 at Easter Road and both team stopped trying as news had filtered through that Celtic had been beaten by Motherwell and if Rangers were to win they won the league so they just played keep ball and hibs too sat back. Its happened before in the Champions league. Can't remember exactly who but It may have been a Galatasaray game perhaps where both teams were to advantage to settle for the status quo. If draws are to be allowed then it should be of no harm to the teams playing to accept it if it benifits them. If 1 point is enough then the draw is enough. Just as a draw would have saved us last season.
  20. Not to worry, we could always get Phil Maguire back..... On second thoughts... GET IT SORTED!
  21. Whilst he might be able to play at right back more than adequately, I'd much rather just play him at right back and sign a decent left back. Wishful thinking perhaps I know
  22. See Mali are complain that Algeria and Angola played for their draw and therefore did not play in the spirit of Fifas fair play ethics or something. Sorry but am I wrong here. Is a draw not a perfectly fair result? Are you not allowed to use a tactical ploy to get a result which will see your team through. If neither team wants to risk conceding a goal then they have every right to not over exert themselves. If it had been arranged between the teams, fair enough, then thats basically match fixing. It just seems like sour grapes from Mali because their head to head record with Algeria saw them go out. Dont get me wrong, if MY team was knocked out of a tournament or relegated because two teams played for the draw that suited them both I'd probably feel a pretty hard done by. However I think I'd have to accept that draws are part and parcel of football and that unless there is blatant attempts. and evidence, to fix that result to the advantage of both teams then its not really right to complain and you just have to move on. Mali want the CAF to act and discredit the result (ie no point for either team meaning they would go through) without any proof other than it didn't suit them, which would to me, just show how farcical and amateur African football, in general, is.
  23. Thats the problem. We equaled them, at least, in all of our games thus far but couldn't beat them. They have a knack of getting a result out of nothing, whereas we can play well and get beaten witha fluke. More often than not we dont win unless we outplay the opposition. Dundee, however, manage to grind victories out, even if they play poorly. Its something we'll have to start doing to have a realistic go at winning the league.
  24. I think they might be a bit out of our wage barrier Aye just by a wee bit Well I was talkin to wee Messi and he said if there was any club he'd be willing to play for nothing for it would be Caley Thistle. No wait, thats just something I made up.
  25. Its certainly possible that we could go on a run of games. And we have players capable. I dont think though that even if Dundee do slip up it will not be big enough for them to be caught. And we have yet to see what they will do in the January window.
