I imagine they will be quite happy that we are playing the ball on the deck where we play it best. We played the ball on the deck against Hibs.

Which Rooney have you been watching?
-
:018: :thumb04: Wonder what the "Brewster out Brigade" will say today.
-
Barrowman soon I presume.
-
Rooneys having a stormer, mon boys just need a goal.
-
Sounds like a good start.
-
Tug, may I enquire if that was you on Soccer AM this morning?
-
Interesting use of language. Think I'll go for a leisurely sprint in the morning. What an excellent contribution to a thread almost two weeks old, you really are a very cool person :thumb04:

Is there genuinely more than 50 or 60 people actually intersted in a bit of atmosphere at TCS these days?

Thought you said that our under-19s should be capable of beating a team from the lower league. Which by the way they did, with Arbroaths two goals coming from a deflection and a dodgy penalty. Our u19s probably would because Brewster would not be picking the team or deciding on tactics but lets forget the ifs, buts or maybes at the end of the day we could not beat Arbroath over 120 minutes and as far as I am concerned (and reading the comments from a few other posters i am not the only one) it is a disgrace and unacceptable especially when it has been stated from within the club that cup runs are essential to our finances. Penalties are just about as much of a lottery as tossing a coin and should be avoided wherever possible. It seems we will not agree on this one. I have said before I hope to **** you are right but at this time I cannot see it. When I do see how right you are you will have my full and frank apology. I am always right

Fair enough - i tend to agree with you anyway. As I said somewhere at the top of this thread I believe it was the wrong team to put out and we made the mistake of underestimating the opposition. The young boys do need games, but I am not convinced they should all start the same game !!!! Perhaps one on from the start with another couple coming off the bench if/when we are comfortably ahead. Anything else, unless forced upon us by injury is folly. Luckily (very luckily considering it went to penalties), we are through, it wasnt pretty but we are through. However, after re-reading much of this thread, I also agree with IHE (thats half a dozen times in 2 days ) when he makes the point about finances and cup runs ...... tonight could have cost us a few quid if we didnt win the penalty shootout so Brew should be thanking all those who scored and Ryan Esson for making pretty much the first penalty save since Jimmy Calder was between the sticks ! I would have played a stronger side myself, let them get a few goals and throw on the youngsters. However, a few have been saying over the last few weeks that it was about time Garry Wood and Ian Vigurs were thrown in at the deep end and given a full game, what better oportunity then tonight to do so. As for the rest of the squad, with the exception Djebdi-Zadi thats just about full strength anyway.

Arbroath 2-2 Inverness CT Ayr 0-1 Aberdeen Brechin 0-2 Kilmarnock Hearts 0-0 Airdrie Utd Cowdenbeath 1-5 Dundee Utd Dundee 1-2 Partick Dunfermline 1-0 Alloa Hamilton 3-1 Clyde Hibernian 3-4 Morton Livingston 2-1 St Johnstone Raith 1-3 Falkirk St Mirren 7-0 Dumbarton A couple of pumpings in this round !!! Bottom line though, however ugly it was, we are through. As I said it is rare. Aberdeen only just scraped through against a team from the same league as Arbroath, while arguably the two biggest teams in this round crashed out, despite both playing reasonably well at this time. And if you really want to be pedantic, St Mirren and Dundee Utd were playing sides from the third division, and both SPL sides in those games unlike ourselves put out full strength squads. I fully expected the Brewster out brigade to have a field day with this one, but try as they might things just aren't that bad. A new centre back is all that is required to complete the team, and we all know that Brew is working on that, while we have taken 4 points from our opening SPL games, despite Christie managing none for 6 last season. For some things will never be good enough, however I have seen enough to tell me that Brewster is looking at the bigger picture and has plans to take ICT to the next level.

Fixed it for you. Perhaps those optimists will listen to the realists now. Or perhaps the "optimists" will tell you that we dominated tonight and were comfartable the entire game but lost a dodgy penalty right near the end. We were fine tonight, Vigurs played well, Wood got a goal and Esson had an easy evening. Was not at the match tonight but 2-2 versus a third division side is far from fine. We should be humping a third division side up and down the park with our under 19s. Sorry to point out that the glass is in fact half empty. 2nd Division. And no, in a one of cup game it is rare that anyone pumps anyone else, particularly away from home where one team is far more up for it than the other. By all accounts Hearts have been one of the better teams so far this season, however they went out tonight. Oh come on, be honest with yourself. It's results that count and we just are not cutting it at the moment and have not been for a long while, on and off the park. We went through By whos standards are we not cutting it. We've 4 more points than we had this time last season under Christie.

Those that say this would not threaten our position as an independent football nation are IMO misguided. For some years the other FIFA have countries failed to see why Britain gets 4 votes instead of 1, and there would be a massive backlash if precedent was set for one Great Britain team. Remember, the English cricket team is in fact the English and Wales cricket team, but I myself can't remember the last time anyone referred to it as Welsh at all.

The shambles that was the signing section and the way the club looked into bringing standing back to football before any of the other spl clubs (can't find the link, but I do remember it) suggests to me that contrary to the opinions of some, the club are really willing to make an effort. Perhaps if the Supporters Trust were willing to organise another meeting between the fans and the club, then discussions could be held. This time I think Mike Smith should be forced to attend, I think its time he stopped hiding behind others and came out and at least explained himself. On another note, this simple fact is that nobody is really intersted in singing at Caley Stadium these days. The singing section holds around 300 yes? But even at full swing, only around 50 or 60 bothered to go to the west stand for a sing song, while despite what some may think, our away support (with the exception of a few young lads that do an excellent job, and a few of the older lads when they can) is one of the poorest in the SPL in terms of making noise. Look at Aberdeen the other week, we took 500+ down, but with the exception of a few renditions of Caley clap clap clap, it was the same 30 or so lads that were making the noise. Unfortunately it seems that we may be in the minority guys, the rest don't seem to particularly care about the atmosphere at TCS.

Why is he not President of the SFA.. St Mirrens the next home game.. I say we make an effort for it and see how it goes? Anyone else into it? What getting alcohol back into football grounds Good luck with that, If I am correct, alcohol was banned from grounds following Hillsborough.

Rough with the smooth people, we're happy to turn up in our droves when the club are succesful, yet if things aren't going to plan, we decide the club are no longer good enough for us and decide not to go. The prices are a disgrace though, particularly for the quality of football on show.

True, true and thinking about it Brew was probably one of the better strikers we have had at ICT. If he is fit and able to play then maybe there isn't such a necessity to sign an "experienced" forward. The best. We perhaps did not see him at his peak (although he was bloody good), but Brew is one of Scotlands top strikers from the past decade or so.

Why would anyone boo
-
We have no idea whats going on behind the scenes.
-
How did he do that?! Everyone is going on about how great a performance it was last night, okay it was a good performance, but still, they can't do it against Hamilton! Stop getting so excited about last night! If we had played at least half decent V Hamilton then ok. The good thing from last night, is a bit more match practice for the lads. Wood never played against Hamilton

Not necessarilly(spelling?) true. I remember from about 13/14 I payed for my "football habbit" if you will, entriely off my own back.
