Clearly too late for this year but can we try very hard next close season not to have yet another tedious endlessly repetitive merger 'debate' ?

I beg to differ, Morrison's pies were superior to either although I will concede that Burnett's bridies and sausage rolls probably just had the edge.

I have to admit that my first summer job in circa 1971-1972 was helping deliver Burnetts pies to the football grounds and pubs of Sneck. Perhaps my pie embellishment was tasted at Kingsmills !!

Personally, I was too busy savouring back to back Highland League titles by the most entertaining side ever to grace a football pitch in Inverness in the early seventies to pay too much attention to the contents of the pies.

 

 

 

Ach it gives us something to talk about during the close season! Kingsmills you'll have to suggest alternative topics to discuss.

If we dont talk about the merger or wanting to sack the manager - its going to be a long break............

Semi agree with this comment. For me munros in tomnahurich street were the best pies ever I can still imagine the taste even now when I was an apprentice back in 76 we used to go there every morning at 8 and get a pie when we headed off to our job Morrisons were excellent too as an apprentice at college we would go to the Maket and have pie beans and a coke for 27p at morrisons cafe upstairs. Was quite lucky after that then when Peter? Morrison had his house at ness castle built he would come out every lunchtime with pies and cakes for us. Ah the good old days

Summer trivia. Don't you love it. Don't recall ever getting a pie from Munro's. I do remember there was a bakers in Muir of Ord that used to sell the finest scotch pies in the Highlands. Damned if I can remember the name though.

Probably Forbes. Great oatcakes too.

Closed a few years ago unfortunately.

And the there were more welcoming,traditional and football orientated pubs to gather at prior to games. My favourite was the old Royal Ordnance.
