Development League info. (2014/15)

(Another new name to get used to!)

This thread could be a place to post match dates, venues, KO times, previews, reports, observations etc. for our (U20s) games this coming season. I know the Renegades and caleydawsons (and others) are regulars at these games and it's always interesting to hear their thoughts.

CaleyD reported on another thread that 5 'over-age' players may be permitted for this re-branded league.

Another change I can see is that there are going to be 17 teams involved - that's a busy 32 game season.

The 12 Premiership clubs are supplemented by Hearts, Hibernian, Falkirk and The Rangers from the Championship with League One's Dunfermline Athletic also involved.

The season starts (for us) on August 5th - next Tuesday!

I believe the SPFL are still insisting on evenings for these games, but I'll get that confirmed.

Hoping for evening kick offs more chance of getting along to the games.

First game of the season at 2pm today - Falkirk at the Falkirk Stadium.

Ryan Christie is suspended but I doubt he was going to be involved anyway.

The SPFL are allowing games where the travelling is beyond a certain distance (230 miles return) to be played at an earlier time....which means most of ours will probably be 2pm.

The specific nature of the distance seems a little suspicious as it forces us to play games against Aberdeen & St Johnstone in the evening...but C*unty are just (by 2 miles) outside the need to play any in the evening.

Bit strange considering we've played some home games in Dingwall and County have been using Clach Park (and are again by the looks of the things)!

Falkirk have such a good youth set-up though so it's no disgrace

Have seen that they have Rory Boulding on trial today. Haven't seen any team lines from our side though.

Not much coverage on it sadly

Finished 2-0 to Falkirk

I know this is off topic but does link in:-

Iain Auld to give commentary on all ICTFC SPFL games starting with Hamilton on Saturday.

I expect this will be done through ictfc official twitter  but I have no more details other than this basic  message. Can anyone enlighten us further about accessing this.......sounds a great idea to me.

It's through MFR and it's only away games (at present).

Thanks for the report but oh oh it sounds very worrying apart from Mackay the Keeper who it sounds as if played a stormer and kept the score respectable.  I suspect that the report was very biased towards Falkirk, I hope so anyway.

I wonder what style of football our lads were playing ?

I know we have lost a lot of the excellent youngsters we had last season and that this was our first outing but if that report is anywhere near accurate then we have an awful lot of building to do to get them anywhere near reserve standard.

I was watching about 10 mins of the second half on Willie Hills in play and Falkirk had 61% possession whereas we had only 34%. Falkirk had about 14/15 corners where as we had none and that was only 50 mins in the game.

But to be fair this is a completely new team with an average age of 17. Its going to be an education for these boy and having watched most of them for the past 7 years I have every confidence they will learn fast.

worldwide or UK only ? live stream or via MFR programming ?

I believe it's MFR2 which is 1107am and online...UK only.  I haven't seen the details of the rights/agreement yet, but don't imagine they would have shelled out for worldwide rights.

Bauer (who owns MFR) are doing "away" coverage for all games on their local stations...i.e. Northsound will do Aberdeen away games, Tay FM will do Dundee clubs away games etc.  This means that fans should be able to pick up our home games online from the local Bauer station of whoever we are playing.  The only drawback is, they are likely to be biased towards the target (away) audience.

From the official club twitter account:

#ICTFC are at home to @acciesfc in the @SPFL Development League at TCS tomorrow evening (Tues) : Kick-Off 6PM : Free Entry for All.

I am wondering whether our two mystery strikers on trial can play in this fixture?

Edit: Official Twitter Account believes the trialist strikers are allowed to play in the fixture.

Edited by RossP

I think they can play but they count as one of the five over-age players.

How would you play them ?  30 mins each then 30 mins together or 45 mins each ?  or ?.

Could be an interesting exercise, make a choice but only give your reasons for choice after the match has been played.

Guys like Nick Ross, Danny Devine and Lewis Horner should get game time to keep match fitness. Regarding the trialists I reckon we'd only sign one of them (if sucessful) so I doubt we would see them playing together plus we don't usually play two up front.
