Accies Storm Warning

With storm Amy closing in and wide spread disruption across the land predicted, It makes one wonder the merits of trying to play football under the current weather forecast. Not only that, what about the safety of the travelling supporters who want to cheer on their side? It's high time the authorities looked ahead and made these decisions and not leave it for the clubs to decide. Should the game go ahead, it's scheduled for a 3:00pm kick-off at Broadwood Stadium.

Despite their well documented financial issues, Accies have made a strong start to League1 after their relegation last season. Many expected them to fall apart but they have dug in and made a positive start winning four games with just the two defeats. Inverness though have made a stunning start and despite a five point handicap, they top the table winning seven of their eight games and are on a five game winning streak.

This was the Caley Jags squad that took them to the top of the table with a 4-1 win over East Fife. Stewart & Bavidge scored and Wotherspoon's two goals and general all round quality won him the Star Man in the SPFL Team of the Week.

Cash strapped Accies last squad in the 2-0 win over Stenhousemuir a week ago. Oli Shaw and Kevin O'Hara with the goals. Shaw, the former Killie and Ross County striker, has netted eight goals this season.

Accies top scorer in the League is jointly held by Oli Shaw and Connor Smith on four goals each.

Former Caley Jag John Rankin is still the manager at Accies and has kept them competitive as their purse shrinks.

The first two conceded goals by us were calamitous. We were in possession but could,

1) not control the ball and then let the opposing player gain control and advance to score the goal.

2) in a place of danger and close proximity to our goals make the decision to challenge to head the ball up the park, as opposed to conceding a corner.

In both cases the dangers of not achieving their aim was either not considered or not aware of the risk. Both resulted in a goal for the opponent.

Both goals self inflicted I’m afraid. We shouldn’t shy away from saying this. Otherwise it will happen again, and again and again.

Looks like we denied a very clear penalty which could have made it 2-2. But most of the errors in the game were within our control.

Did Hamilton play any registered amateurs? You have to credit Rankin for over coming some serious setbacks so far.

I was a bit concerned about this fixture because Hamilton seem to be a bit of a bogey team for us [and they relegated us of course], seems my fears were corrected with a strong Caley side deciding to have a bad day at the office. Did Zimba's absence make a difference?

I wonder if Hamilton's troubles are having the same galvanising effect on team spirit as ours last year, It seems they may be our main rivals along with Stenhousemuir [perhaps] and Queen of the South [possibly]. Although a little bit deflating, maybe a nudge to remind everyone that promotion isn't going to be a walk in the park, unless we are 'on it' regularly, the league break should help us reset, let's us the Forfar match to clear the minds

Anyway...I had a rubbish weekend football wise Palace lost away to Everton, and thus ended a 19match unbeaten run, despite utterly dominating the first 60mins and being 1 Nil up... this is the 3rd or 4th time in recent years Palace have lost away to Everton despite leading, and we never beat them at home...the very definition of a bogey team!

It’s quite possible that the current top four will be the top four at the end of the season, although QotS could also get into the mix.

A satisfactory first quarter for us, but we need to get back to winning ways and ensure we work hard and get the results we need in every game.

It does no harm to keep feet on the ground, and abide by the old cliche "take each game as it comes". There will be bumps along the road, there always is, no matter who you are.

That said, we should also remember that we are still only a point off the top and that's with a 5 point deduction and having lost to the two teams above us in the table. It may not be a walk in the park, but finishing outside the top two would not be a good outcome based on the first quarter of the season.

From the Herald 'The SPFL have withheld a £70,000 payment to Hamilton Academical after expressing concern over the club’s ability to fulfil its fixtures until the end of the season.

The League One club’s unaudited accounts were filed with Companies House on October 3. The year ending June 30 2024 showed a loss of £1.4million with the league board fearful that the club might struggle to see out the campaign. They’ve now withheld money the club regard as vital to their chances of completing their fixtures.'

When you look at the Accounts on Companies House you can see that Seref Zengin, Director signed the Accounts off for the 30th September 2025 and then resigned on the 1st October, 2025. Hamilton are behind with their Confirmation statement. From a going concern point of view it looks like they may be dependent on their Directors to meet any creditor demands for payment.

Hamilton Academical lose points and fined after transfer...

Scottish League 1 leaders Hamilton Academical have been handed points deductions and a fine after paying trialists and fielding amateur players while under a transfer embargo.

I raised the amateur question after we lost to them. Given their accountants position they now seem in quite a precarious position.

BBC league table now shows accies in 6th, docked 6 points.

They have got off very lightly. If a team can lose 3 points for a simple admin oversight that results in an ineligible player for 1 match, then I’d have thought systematic cheating and dishonesty over a period of time would be worth a lot more than a 6 point deduction, especially when they have ‘previous’ when it comes to hiding things from the football authorities.

Playing in a leased stadium with modest crowds is not sustainable given debts of perhaps £2m. Payments to HMRC etc has to come from another source. Who or what is that source? Who is feeding the Club? Reading between the lines, the SFA/SPFL seem to be gathering information by a gradual means. I suspect not everything has come to light just yet which means further penalties may follow although the SFA/SPFL may have got things wrong and Hamilton may have potentially been the unfortunate recipients of a miscarriage of justice. We await details from their appeal hearing.

When I thought about it earlier, I thought that every game in which they played an "ineligible" player - that is, one who should not have been signed or should not have been paid - could be declared null and void. Perhaps limit it to the first 9 games of the season, when each of the other teams will have played one game against them.

If that took them down to zero points, then they'd be only two behind Cove

I thought awarding a 3-0 win to their opponent in each game that they broke the rules would have been a fair penalty.

Remember this ? I wonder who was Hamiltons dodgy players and how many they played in.

Decided not to appeal!!! Pity really because points deduction might have been increased.
