Away to Cove, Sat 10th Jan 2026

Morning all, not to put a dampener on anyone's weekend but living in Aberdeen I would be shocked if this game is on - this is the view from mine and MrCaleyjag's front door this morning in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

I do have concerns over Kellagher as a manager in that he doesn't seem to be able to change things when they aren't going our way. I think he chops and changes the team too much and doesn't seem to know his best team. The strikers are an example where Bavidge plays one week then Zimba the next, same with Sole and Longstaff. Fir me Bavidge and Sole have to start every week in the league as they give us much better options. Don't know if conditions played a part in team selection today but we really need to get on a winning run quickly.

Bavidge needs a settled run in the team. I think this would help him find his feet properly. I see this guy and really believe he has something about him and will ultimately play at a higher level than this. Just my view.

The 9-0 win at Dumbarton was really an illusion that created the impression we …….

Precisely C1C3, It was a 3rd level young Dumbarton team that really didn’t want to waste any time/effort in a Non-Cup competition.

More than a few were /are happy to glorify the score as some sign of greatness in our management and players / squad that this league was not worthy of our presence. - The last three matches has brought home some sense of reality to the situation.

I’m not too worried about a 0-0 result from the Cove game. In such farcical weather and pitch playing conditions I view gaining a point a success. (It also avoided (just), another record being recorded).

Stenny made a clear statement however in their 5-0 over East Fife yesterday. Good, we have an exciting few months to look forward to in chasing and overtaking them. (QoTS may also make a challenge, time will tell).

We have a few away games to face, however our time at home will show whether we can truely wear and carry the burden of promotion favourites. Certainly we have the squad and quality of players on paper that should full-fill that objective. Questions can and should be asked if it is not achieved. Until then we can only look for one of our many ‘top’ strikers to meet their part of the team ‘deal’, as the defence and midfield mostly can and do their part.

A bit frustrating, but it could be worse... being knocked out of the FA Cup as holders, by a team 6 leagues below, on a pitch like Cove have

My local side Sutton lost at home too

Caley drawing away with a clean sheet is the nearest thing to being good news!

You have all my sympathies. But, as one of the comments I saw yesterday said - that's two seasons in a row that Palace has experienced "the magic of the FA Cup". wink

I sympathise. My club were 3-2 up away at Macclesfield 2 rounds prior to your game, and we completely capitulated. Could have been us playing you yesterday.

Yes, we just have to take it on the chin...the shock was made bigger because we were the current FA Cup holders, which I would take any given day even with the 'sting in the tail'

As Caley fans know, nothing can take away the feeling of winning the senior cup competition. I have experienced it on both sides of the border and consider myself blessed

Hell, you could have beaten Palace too!

I'm not sure what MacIntyre has done wrong. Thought he was our best player in the early part of the season.

Don’t know tm, only hazard a guess it’s people following orders. Hint maybe in a loanee club setting the rules.

Pity, like others I felt Oscar was a star for us more times than not when playing. Hope he get a chance before the seasons over as he may look elsewhere for a game.

I did wonder big Shirley if that was why Mitchell Robertson was getting more game time as he is a loan deal from Celtic. MacIntyre is here on a 1 year permanent deal.

Something no right there...

Don't get me wrong, Robertson has done pretty well in the games he has played, I just think MacIntyre has more about him when going forward.

Well, when was talent and fairness on equal standing when deals are made. Guy is kicking his heels when he should be kicking a ball!

I do worry about the lack of regular starting times for some of our players. It’s going to cost us when it comes to signing new contracts.

The squad is a strange one this year, so much competition for places in certain areas is usually something you’d kill for. I feel like it’s hindering us at times though with players not getting a proper run at it.

Did Robertson not get his first start at left back when MacIntyre had a knock?

I don’t think he’s done much wrong since becoming a starter and has chipped in with a couple of goals: the player in possession and all that.

Yes it’s harsh on MacIntyre but sometimes that happens in football.

Indeed, It’s called a deal (written or oral (and a wink)) where a player is loaned with the implicit condition that player is picked before any other club player as long as he is fit.

In this case many fans would say (as I do here), Oscar MacIntyre is a better player and option for Kellacher to select and play. I.e Defensively both players tick that box. From an attacking perspective Oscar MacIntyre offers more IMO than M Robertson. Each to their own when it comes down to which player is best for the team.

For me the outcome of the last three games could have been different as OM provides a fast attacking dimension from the left that our team currently is deficient.

All subjective of course, just feel the player OM has strong argument and case ( 1 point out of 9 ) to put he deserves a position in the team. IMO it’s only fair, the player should be told whether he has a chance of getting a game or not as long as MR is fit. If not then allow him to return to Hibs or go on loan so he can get a game in another team.

Just me tuppence worth.

You missed my point (the first two paragraphs) but no worries.

We all have opinions and thoughts, which is what the Forum is all about.

Well, it’s more than that IMO. If Kellacher is not allowed to select the best players available to achieve a result then he is at a disadvantage. He knows the ‘rules’ so has to ‘suck it up’ and live with it. Can’t help feel he has enough to task his mind right know as results don’t come our way without being restricted on what players he can play in league games.

Forums are great, aren’t they.

According to the BBC, he is also Captain for the night so he can't have done much wrong.

He’s our club Vice Captain although I don’t think that’s ever been formally stated.
