Gary Wood

Gary played full 90 mins in Montrose defeat of Stranraer last night in CIS cup. Reports are that he had an excellent game and even came near to scoring.

If we were to meet Montrose in later round would CC prevent Woody from playing?

It depends whether CC sees him as a threat or not so it could go either way.

... lets cross that bridge when we come to it.

Hopefully we don't get Peterhead in the draw!!

Had another excellent game yesterday and assisted in Montrose's winner.

I saw the last 10/15 mins of the Elgin game yesterday, but Garry Wood never saw much of the ball. Various folk I spoke to said he was looking good though

Wood scored twice and was fouled for a penalty as Montrose thrashed Stirling Albion 5-1 in the Challenge cup last night.

from BBC sport site

John Baird's hat-trick helped Montrose earn a place in the second round of the Challenge Cup with a sensational win over First Division Stirling Albion.

Baird fired the Division Three outfit in front from the penalty spot after Garry Wood was fouled by Laurie Ellis.

Baird added the second with a dipping drive from 30 yards and set up Wood to slot home from 10 yards.

Ross Harris replied in off the post, but Wood bulleted home a header from a Baird cross before the roles reversed.

Powerful boy Woods, good to see him keeping his hand in.

According to a Montrose fan I know, Wood was fantastic last night.

Excellent stuff. Was really impressed with his pre-season displays.

Yep, my insider reckons the lad played a blinder. Well done Gaz. Keep it up mun.

We seem to be producing some talent in the Youth system and I think this is the best for us to be blooding these young guys as the immediate step up to the SPL is a huge one.  If Wood continues like this it wouldn't be a bad idea to recall him in January and put him out on loan at a slightly higher level.

I think Montrose could be fighting for promotion this season and would like to keep him for the full season.

can we do a swap? looks like wood is revelling in his loan deal. hopefully if rory were to do the same it would give him the confidence to take his potential onto another level

Noticed he was subbed with about 20 mins to go today in a 1-0 loss to Stranraer.  Was he just knackered after all the football he's been playing of late or was it purely tactical? (I'm scared to suggest the possibility of injury)

Purely tactical. Montrose were playing well till the last third where the Stranraer defence were dominating.

I hope he does well. I was impressed the couple of times I saw him in pre season friendlies. He's with Montrose until January though and cannot be recalled

You are in trouble with RiG.  Gary has only been at the club for less than two seasons and according to him in no way does that represent coming through the youths. I think you have to join at under 9's!
