..and Jonnyhayes7 comment 10 hrs ago says: "Jus finished 1st 90min in 7months! #shattered can't wait for @aardc91 to do my running for me!" Looks like we might have snapped Doran up on a 3 year permanent deal!? Belter! Maybe we could persuade Blackburn to give us Nick Blackman on loan for the season as well...2 points

To answer the previous poster's question, it was definitely 'on the floor' football we played - quite impressive mainly. Yeovil gave us the runaround for first 15 minutes and but for Esson, would have been further ahead. We settled down after the equaliser, a reasonably well worked, but ultimately soft goal, and then controlled the rest of the first half. Meekings got a nasty injury, carried off, and replaced by Proctor, half way through the half. 2nd half Yeovil replaced all 10 outfield players. We had much the better of the 2nd half although Yeovil surprised us more than once with good efforts on goal. The penalty was a good call. We could have had an earlier one too when Foran was nudged, much to his disgust. Looks like we have found Rooney's replacement for penalties in Tansey who took it very confidently. Pick of the goals was Andrew Shinnie's free kick from about 25 yards - a peach. Good move for Foran's goal near the end. Andrew Greig came on for Andrew Shinnie for last 10 minutes - no other changes. Pick of the new boys for me was definitely Tansey - looks like a good find. Overall I was reasonably encouraged by the performance, although we looked shaky at the back on many occasions and both Yeovil goals were down to poor marking. We could have had 6 or 7 quite easily. Their giant keeper did well. Yeovil have a nice little ground, 2 stands along the sides and open standing terracing behind the goals. Friendly locals who seemed to think we were quite a good side. Of the 700 odd spectators, I doubt we had more than 20. I suspect we'll have more for the next two.2 points

Heh, heh, some good banter on twitter this evening with Hayes (@jonnyhayes7) and Doran (@aardc91)... I tweet as @Nareystoepoker, and felt confident enough this evening to tweet "Keep an eye out for some great old-fashioned wingplay at Caley Thistle this season, with @jonnyhayes7 on one flank and @aardc91 on the other" A few minutes later, I get a wee reply from @jonnyhayes7 "@Nareystoepoker @aardc91 wont get a game :P" Made my evening, that did.1 point

Well feck me - we will soon have as many ins as outs - Doran was always in the pipeline and MacKay could be the next Andy Murray. :rotflmao:1 point

So you go for a job with the Royal Bank of Scotland. You sprain your hand when sorting out the till. They tell you to come back in 3 weeks time for a second interview but won't guarantee a job. You feel a little sore but basically fine. HSBC offers you an interview for a similar position and their medic says it's ok to operate the till - just a minor sprain. You have no particular loyalty to either bank. What do you do? I'd imagine most of us would go along to the HSBC interview. If the Royal Bank then come back and want to sign you. Fine. If HSBC do. Fine. You've got no allegiance to either bank, so why would you turn down HSBC on the basis of a mere second interview with absolutely no guarantee of a job? If I was Tel and had concerns about his fitness, I'd get him back in 3 weeks time, if still available, and assess the seriousness of the injury. I certainly wouldn't expect Gilbert to wait around, turning down clubs that don't seem to believe the injury is as serious as ICT do. Perhaps we're just being over-cautious. Perhaps they're being too cavalier. Either way, I don't think the full-back's too blame in trying to get a job with a club that feels his injury is minor. And I don't think he should be criticised for not saying "no thanks" - who said he wouldn't sign a deal if one was offered? He's not turned down a contract as none (as far as I know) has been offered.1 point

What I was alluding to was not really about his history - if ICT asked him to rest then he is simply disobeying orders and taking the pissh - if he has carried on like that over the years then no wonder he has fallen from grace and is injury prone to boot.1 point

Don't have a problem with the quality of the ins (and generally the outs). My problem is the lack of time the majority of the squad will have trained together by the start of the season. At the start of last season we had a stable, balanced team - they enjoyed working together and the crack among the squad was great. This time around there'll be a lot of strangers trying to get to know each other. I expect a slow start this season.1 point

Diadvantages :- Nothing set in stone---could lead to restless players as the season comes closer to an end. Aad instability. Performance may fall off--e.g. Adam Rooney's towards the end of our last season. Clearly he must have been thinking more of his future (club?) rather than concentrating on assisting ICT to do well towards the end. Planning for the future very difficult indeed for the Manager. Formerly , i.e. up to now, we have had local players who were settled, confident of their place, understood their options and salary expectations and loved to be at home in Inverness. All leading to a more settled existence and allowed them to do some planning for their future. Now, however, under our new scheme of things nothing is settled, instability is, and always will be for the foreseeable future, in the wind and we cannot rely on the attraction of being "at home" to have the slightest impact on the desire of younger, ambitious players to stay in Inverness--unless they REALLY like the City and environs of course. I agree that there are many unknown and different factors that could affect all of this but, personally, I feel that the strength of a new team will depend entirely on the way it gels and its related success(es) as the matches unfold under their feet. If injuries reduce the the team's effectiveness severely for any length of time then such a team comprised of newbies could falter and maybe flounder and founder. I short we could start with a very vulnerable team for the SPL. Just a thought!1 point

He clearly wants to be somewhere else but if nobody is willing to take him on terms he wants and Terry thinks he can do a job, then why not? Whilst we admire loyalty in a player and we would like to think players want to play for us, those attributes are not the key attributes for getting the best out of a player. If Duff wants to be somewhere else earning more money then the motivation for him is to make other clubs notice him. They will do that if he plays well wherever he is. If he was to sign, I for one would be delighted as he put in some pretty decent performances last year.0 points
