I know the Juanjo incident is way in the past now and i'm sure he's even got over it but it seems that Lennon hasn't. He has a new book out (yes, he can spell!!!) 'Man and Bhoy'. It's such a good book that the Daily Record were giving it away for free a couple of weeks ago. I had no intention of reading it as it does not interest me, however I flicked the pages to the index section to see where ICT are mentioned. Twice, we are mentioned, first of all regarding the 1-0 cup defeat of Celtic when Robbo was in charge and then nearly a whole page on the Juanjo incident. Obviously for copyright reasons I cannot go into detail word for word and there is no external link, so I will keep it as non-plagiarised as possible. He mentions Juanjo 'poking his head into his face'. The TV cameras did not see it. Fourth official Alan Freeland saw it and the referee rightly sent off Juanjo. 'Juanjo said he didn't touch me - well he would say that wouldn't he?'. He finishes this segment of the book off complaining that the SFA let Juanjo off and 'imagine what would have happened if it was the other way around?' I've never had any issues with Lennon, other than the Juanjo incident and I have said for the last few years now, that it is forgotten. I know many fellow ICT fans still often bring it up during conversations about Lennon. However, Juanjo was proven innocent and there is no need for Lennon to lie like this in his book. Maybe it stirs things up by me mentioning this topic on here, but as a support we have to stick up for any of our ex players - especially good professionals like Juanjo who is having his name dragged through the gutter again. Many Celtic fans that have read this book and weren't there / didn't see the footbage / were too young will now forever associate Juanjo as a thug. We all know the truth though. He is a skilfull player, who Lennon could not cope with that day and had to cheat to win the match.3 points

I doubt that there is now much scope to reduce expenditure. Most of the potential to reduce expenditure will be in players' wages and if wages are not at a pragmatic level players good enough to keep us in the SPL will not sign. We need to increase income. Of course, one off investment would be good but what is needed is a steady increase in revenue and a few good ideas have already been suggested. For me one of the key things must be to try to get more folk into the ground and I wonder if the club would benefit from reducing entrance fees, programme costs etc. I am lucky enough to be able to afford these prices without worrying about it but it doesn't stop me from thinking the prices are a bit steep and I am sure the price will put others off. Reducing prices, particularly for the youngsters, will encourage more to attend - more attending will improve the atmosphere - a better atmosphere will provide a better match day experience and perhaps also help the performance on the pitch. Folk may argue that if you cut the admission by 25% you are unlikely to see a 25% increase in numbers but it is not as simple as that. If paying less to get in you are more likely to buy a programme, more likely to buy a 50:50 ticket and more likely to buy refreshments. You end up spending much the same or maybe even more but just feel you have got better value. Coupled with a good marketing campaign there would be a real opportunity to boost the fan base (vital for the long term future) as well as increasing overall revenue. The other thing that I don't think has been mentioned is revenue from transfers. It seems that most players are being signed on short term contracts of 2 years at most. Apart from a worry that this strategy relies on making "finds" every year and hard negotiations with them the following year to keep them at the club, this strategy gives us no income from transfers. Contracts of 3 or 4 years carry the risk that injury or failure to fulfil potential will mean we end up paying for donkeys but there must be a happy medium where players like Rooney keen to develop their careers can be sold on whilst still in contract. There must be players who would welcome 2 year contracts rather than 1 and probably local lads who would happily sign for a 3 or 4 year contract at fairly low wages in order to have a real opportunity to develop and put them in the spotlight. If they blossom then they will want to move on to higher wages and can be sold. If they don't then most would probably still be useful squad players and the few that really disappoint aren't going to cost that much in any case or could be given free transfers to get them off the wage bill. There are real risks with longer term contracts for high wage players but low risk and opportunity for considerable returns with unproven young players of the sort we are signing. We have a good youth system and a knack of finding good young players from down South but we don't make any money out of them. Indeed, they end up costing us as those who impress and we want to keep cost a lot more when their contract is renewed.1 point

I disagree. It looks absolutely clear that there was no contact. Lennon clearly said someting to Juanjo which caused him to turn and respond close to, but there is no jerking of the head and no associated other body movement which might be expected to go with a head butt. Juanjo's reaction and body language followed by the way he turns away from the incident are entirely consistent with a simple verbal response of "don't be so stupid" or words to that effect. Lennon's reaction comes well after any alleged contact. Lennon cheated at the time and he's lying about it now. Lennon does himself no favours by trying to defend one of the more shameful episodes in his career. Celtic have been embarrassed by ICT on too many occasions for his liking and he is simply trying to tarnish the image of the club by way of retaliation. It's pathetic and my simple message to him is1 point

I think it was the backdraft from the 'shampoo-advert-stylee-hair-swish' that Juanjo assaulted him with that knocked him over1 point

I actually admired Lennon and his footballing ability, he rarely lost the ball, won more tackles than he should, and was a calming controlling influence, and one of Celtics better players in my opinion. However, this has always been stained by the Juanjo farce. Lennon cheated and he and his team got away with it. The SFA knew he cheated, and still they did nothing after they cleared Juanjo. Last season, he showed his managerial ability, taking Celtic from embaresment on the field to a very very good team. However he was caught believing the conspiracy theories that all non old firm fans know are bull, but suffered unbelievable levels of shocking behaviour towards him. This season he has been a changed man so far, not spouting the bile that others have made him believe. But then he goes and spoils it all again by lying in his book. I was there, I saw the incident, I know Juanjo didn't touch him. And yet when a fellow countryman ( Lafferty ) copies his move, he would call foul. Cant stand cheats, worse still cant stand cheat who lie, and then continue to lie after cameras prove he lied. Admit the truth that you cheated1 point

Why do certain moderators waste their time using virtual bullying tactics on Dougal. If you don't want to answer his questions or think he is taking the mickey just ignore him! Every thread that he has posted on pretty much has certain moderators trying to stir things up and this encourages others to have a go at him. It's this kind of mob mentality that makes me not want to post on here most of the time. If he is genuine he doesnt need some halfwits with thousands of posts under their name and who also hold moderator status belittling him for coming onto a forum where discussion is meant to be encouraged. Just because you have heard it all before and you have time to go rummaging through archive folders that you probably helped create doesnt mean the rest of us do!1 point

Personally I have began to save up for the Texan pre season tour Plus 12th Man has inadvertently got it rite - hope he has not zoned in to my psychic airways - and who would build such a project with dollars behind it - Tullochs or Muirfields ? LET THE RENEWED POWER STRUGGLE CONTINUE = But there is only one winner for ICT. Plus I have given Dougal a green dot - but I never give out red dots as they are usually given becos peeple dont agree with the view being banded. My only grievance is that you should have a separate table for red and green dots - that way I could be well to the feckin top of both.-1 points

Dewsburydude - we have never played Georgia at full International level but have played and lost to them with our 'A' Team. I predict another embarrassing performance for that game. As for Argentina we have played them twelve times and lost to them eight of those times. Not a great deal of hope there. I can see all the Scots fans that have spent good money coming out here to NZ singing " We want our money back" at the Argentina game. Apt don't you think?-1 points

It is lunch time here in Auckland NZ and I am watching another embarrassing display by a Scottish team. This time it is at rugby. It is hard to tell whether it is because Scotland are c**p or because Romania are better than expected. Whatever the cause the plea from Scots based here in NZ to the Scottish rugby team is the same. Go home you bunch of bozzos and leave us here in peace in NZ to enjoy the Rugby World Cup - your presence here is a total embarrassment to us. Go home now!-1 points

Sadly this now seems to be the norm at TCS We definitely seem to have a lot more wifees or tartan rug brigaders in our support than other teams in the SPL the question is why??? You only have to read the North of Scotland Cup final thread, the ICT supporters club seem to have been baking cakes at half time I know i'm repeating myself here but stadium location and layout is also a main factor in my opinion, an enclosed stadium with four sides is far better at keeping the atmosphere within the ground Atmosphere will never improve while we remain at the dump dougal-2 points
