  3. The latest from the SPL's disgrace of a Chief Executive is in a BBC report here http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/18148989. The story suggests Rangers could start next season as a new company in the Scottish Premier League without incurring any sanctions - such as a points deduction or fine. It goes on to say that fans of other clubs have been demanding tough sanctions but that SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: "Newcos have been allowed within UK football for many years." The man is a complete discgrace. After the way Rangers have cheated their way to success in recent years the man seems perfectly happy for there to be a newco admitted straight back into the SPL, without any sanctions, to start raking in the profit whilst all the creditors (including the taxpayer) who have been cheated out of millions get nothing. This simply rewards immoral financial practices which if they are not actually illegal, certainly should be. Doncaster shames Scottish football and should resign with immediate effect. The article refers to the meeting next week when a vote will take place to decide what should happen to clubs who come out of administration in this way as "a new company". I trust that those voting on behalf of our club are clear about how the fans - the lifeblood of this club expect them to vote.

  4. Proven strikers cost money. We don't have money. So we have to unearth gems. Chamberlain could well be a gem so worth a look

  5. Of course the NewCo won't be ready for the new season. So long as they can keep the existing company alive (all be it on Life Support) then the SPL have no means by which to further punish or remove them. Get the new season started and then look to request a transfer of the SPL share and there's less chance of a refusal due to the disruption it would cause. As I have said already, what the SPL MUST do if that is the case is seek (financial) guarantees that the club can fulfil the season ahead prior to it kicking off. Since reports seem to suggest that having Rangers in the league is worth between £700k & £1 Million to each of the other clubs then I would say putting about £9 Million on deposit with the SPL would suffice.

  6. I would say the clubs finances would dictate where the pre-season 'tour' would go. Kind of makes sense that we stay in Scotland and cut costs. At the end of the day the pre-season games are all about match fitness and not tougher opposition.

  7. Of course it does - nothing to do with him feeling that he has been constantly played out of position, often made a scapegoat, dropped and started again on a regular basis and not played to his strengths.

  8. Cutting it off might not have been necessary if you'ld taken antibiotics.

  9. So you are happy with the quality of the SPL then? You want the best players to leave? This perochial attitude is part of the reason why Scottish football is so low. I'd imagine it's because he doesn't want him at a rival team and inevitably damage us next season as opposed to a parochial attitude?

  10. They have changed the rules a bit Jock - the teams who are between 7th and 9th (Upper Split league) / 10th and 12th (Lower Split League) play off against each other in a three team league - the winners of those leagues then play the runners up of the other league. The final is then decided on a home and away basis.

  11. They would probably stand to get more from Liquidation....especially if the Duff & Phelps valuation of assets is accurate and given the pittance the company is being sold for.. Even if a CVA is agreed, it's not a given that the assets could be moved out to protect them from any fall-out from the Big Tax Case (which is what I suspect might happen if the CVA route is succesful). HMRC could, given the state of the business and the likelihood of a second insolvency event, seek to have the assets of the company frozen the minute it exits administration.

  12. Two things we need are more experianced players and a decent striker. In my opinion David Clarkson fits the bill. If we are to lose Johnny Hayes in the summer we will be in need of a creative midfield player i.e Ian Black. While I understand that the playing staff budget may be tight I can't help but point out how lucky we were this season to avoid the drop due to two sides being much worse than us. I can't see Hibs being as weak next season and County have shown with their First Division form that they will be no pushovers. I would consider the likes of Clarkson to be a wise investment. I think we should look to the Scottish lower leagues for players. They would not demand as high a wage as others, may jump at the chance to play in the top flight and would be more likley to show passion for the club than a player from England on a six month loan deal. Butcher's transfer policy has not worked Its not just Scotland thats feeling the pinch. The English lower leagues are feeling the pinch and I think there will be some very good players without a club. We should capitalise on this.
