  3. What a lot of drivel on this thread. The fact is that team GB has already won 22 gold medals and there are more to come. Team GB has got more golds than in any Olympics since 1908 and clearly far more nations compete these days. It is safe to say this is the best performance ever and we should celebrate that. It is a British team comprising of individuals from all corners of the UK, some as individuals and some as members of teams. Some are Scottish, some Welsh, some Irish and some English. Some of the Scots live in England and some of the English live in Scotland. Some of the Scots have English parents and some of the English have Scottish parents. The support teams consist of a similar eclectic mixes of the UK's constituent citizens. This is a UK team and it seems pointless to think of Scottish medals or English medals or to conjecture how a Scottish team representing an independent Scotland might fare in the future. What I can say with some certainty is that those wishing an independent Scotland should be celebrating the success of team GB because it represents success for Scotland as a part of the United Kingdom. The success will hopefully spur youngsters from all parts of the UK to take up sport. As a result, success for Scotland as an independent nation in any future games will be more likely because of the legacy of team GB.

  4. Plus as has been alluded to look at the position, the reaction and the view of the feckin referee. Why oh why are some supposed ICT fans trying to feckin apologise for this ??

  5. She was elected to represent her constituency and those who voted for her did so under the belief that she would represent them for the whole term. Had she said she wouldn't run again for whatever reason at the next election then that's fair enough, but if she wasn't in a position to represent her constituency for the whole term, then she shouldn't have stood in the first place.

  7. Money could be made but at what cost? Some of these sleepy villages or towns will get destroyed when thousands of Orcs turn up on a Saturday afternoon Dougal So it came to pass-, words of the prophet Dougal in february Always suspected that the ramblings of Laurence and Dougal were from the same keyboard, that being the one belonging to Alan Douglas. I can't let you get away with this statement unchallenged. I am being serious now, not my usual laid back really unconcerned self. I feel the above statement is the daftest post I have ever read on this forum. It states that Dougal and I, are one and the same person, or at least use the same machine. That is what is totally daft and I think is either said under the influence of drink or Caley has lost his marbles. In any event I cannot but think he is making mischief for the sake of it. In the above post I was referring to statements made last February which foretold the future, at a time when nobody thought that Rangers would not get a reprieve. I t was thought tha Rangers would be bought by a rich guy and rebooted in the SPL, having paid around a third of the debt off instead of the miserable 9p in the pound which was actually suggested. Nobody really thought that Rangers would be playing in Div 3 so that is why I referred to a prophet I rather feel I have fallen for mind games here, if it was just me I would not get involved, but Dougal is an innocent party here, Caley you should apologise to him, if nothing else. This is f**kin' hilarious!

  10. I think it's pretty incredible just how well Scots athletes/sports persons are doing considering that we're pretty much producing what we have despite the slim pickings we get in terms of investment in Sport and Sports Facilities.....investment that was, even before the Olympics, disproportionate. Surely the argument must be that Scottish representation is succeeding despite TeamGB and not because of it!!! Imagine what a Team Scotland could achieve if it was backed by an Independent Scotland who were investing with pride in it's own nation.

  11. There's something quite sad about all this. The fact is England has a population about ten times that of Scotland, so England is bound to produce more top athletes. I quite like this Team GB thing where we are all united against the rest of the world once again. What I don't like is this chip-on-the-shoulder attitude we Scots have developed towards our neighbours, where in football, for example, in the absence of quality in our own national team, we are reduced to hoping our neighbours lose and are quite proud of the fact we support whichever team is playing England! I am proud to be Scottish, but whereas Scottish patriotism is viewed positively, we dismiss English patriotism as arrogance.

  12. Right, after a succesful 'meeting' in the Alamo we have a name for our club. We thought we'd name it after an ex player and Juanjo was the most popular choice. So we are: Juanjo Away We now have 14 members. Ten folk signed up to Caley Jags Together and Juanjo Away. 4 were already Caley Jags Together members anyway. So to the folk that want to join - If you are a member of Caley Jags Together, please message me and I shall add you to the list for Juanjo Away. If you are not a member of Caley Jags Together, please sign up (£1 membership) and then message me. I will then e-mail names to L_G. Folk that signed up yesterday - Caley Jags Together have your membership forms and £1's. What a great atmosphere yesteday. I am sure the players appreciated the support from everyone there. Lets keep this up. Juanjo Away........

  13. Naevity? really? Aberdeen have the third biggest budget in the SPL, Hibs have the sixth. We have the tenth. Fact. If we there therefore finish above or near them we are doing well. Fact. We have signed untried but potentially useful players this year, who will hopefully fill the same untried, potentially useful and distinctly unhighland shoes as Rooney, Hayes, Rankin and those others that we mind sae fondly. Naeve? Not really. The boys right.
