I suspect we may see the tactic a little more often in the future and I fail to see why people think this is somehow insulting to the keeper who has played the match. Saving penalties is a very specific keeper task and whilst one keeper may be a good spot kick stopper, another keeper in the squad may well be a more rounded keeper better at narrowing angles, collecting crosses, coming off the line to make blocks etc. It's a bit like taking off a defender and putting a striker on when you're chasing a game - it doesn't mean the defender has played badly, it is just that you need a different skill set on the park at that time of the game. In the context of the world cup game I think the strategy of bringing Krul on worked brilliantly. He is a very big man and his sheer presence immediately puts a bit of pressure on the kick takers who feel there is that little bit less margin for error. Added to that is the fact that it gives a message to the opposition that the substitute keeper is good at saving penalties and again this must put pressure on them. Krul also used psychology effectively by his general swagger and body language which oozed confidence. But regardless of any pschology here, Krul actually did the business making 2 stops, the second of which was a particularly good save. It is a sensible tactic and the keeper who has played the rest of a match should not have a problem with that provided it is a strategy agreed in advance.
  2. The above picture was the design at the very early stages. Its a bit hard to make out against the back ground.

Hopefully you're right and we can look forward to seeing a wider selection of food . That would depend on the current contract stipulations with the current pie suppliers. If you were to do a servery speed trial, subway and coffee, v pie and a coffee. you would think pie and coffee would win hands down. However I have been informed that Man City have a Subway outlet and it works fine and look how many fans they have, they just have a more basic set menu, everything is preped up fresh, wrapped up and ready to serve. Dougal I think you will find a few improvements this coming season, its 20 years on, the club are forever looking after the youngsters to maintain and grow the fan base, its also good to see some money coming back to look after the fans who invest in the club over the years. Ideally, I would like to see the fans happy, stimulated, perked up, vibrant, full of energy and ready for action before KO. Lets make every home match a good day out. Break the routine, please break the mould. Enter the bar, for a few beers nice and cold. Enter the stadium and let the story unfold.

Walt if they want to bring on some American style cheerleaders?

There was a big discussion about it prior to the last semi-final and in the end we didn't need to. Brill staying in for the shootout for the Aberdeen game was also fair enough. I was calling for it though during the extra time of the one we lost. Reguero was terrible with penalties, everyone knew that and having Esson (a man who we've never lost a shootout with us) put in would have given us a far better chance. I do remember some people being against making the switch, one person saying that Reguero "would be within his rights to get back on a plane back to Spain post-match" .......which of course in the end, is pretty much what he did. I reckon we'd have won the game had we made a switch and probably have won the cup.

Sneck boy I will back you up on this one no way are you exaggerating about Davie Milroy's headers I clearly recall watching him head the ball 50yards or more at a frightening pace too, maybe that had something to do with his oddly shaped heed though to be fair Dougal

Not the initials I was thinking of, but here's a picture of the man in question! Don't really get schoolboy humour hence why I don't get many of the resident schoolboys posts on the forum but for the life of me I don't really see the relevance of a squirrel to be honest or am I missing something? One things for certain I'd rather be a squirrel than a weasel#charlie though any day of the week Anyway back to Mikey Noble's article in the telegraph about no go areas in town, I still think that exists to a certain extent, I never wear colours to the football but on numerous occasions I've seen various licensed establishments turn away ICT fans on match days due to wearing replica tops (no football colours being the reason given by bouncers) yet away supporters seem to get the green light and gain entry Not sure if this is widespread in Inverness but maybe that's why the Innes bar is so popular as it welcomes in our support wearing colours Dougal

  11. I can do better than that, I have one of the early prototypes, that don't have any logos, designs or colour. I'm open to offers.

Nessie the Monster is at least identifiable to the local area. ICat was rubbish by the way. Why do we need to have a sponsors mascot anyway? Why didn't we have a dancing oil rig for Orion? Or a big plane for Flybe? Or how about a big dancing videotape player for when we had Sharp? A sandwich is cringeworthy IMO.
