  1. (Another new name to get used to!) This thread could be a place to post match dates, venues, KO times, previews, reports, observations etc. for our (U20s) games this coming season. I know the Renegades and caleydawsons (and others) are regulars at these games and it's always interesting to hear their thoughts. CaleyD reported on another thread that 5 'over-age' players may be permitted for this re-branded league. Another change I can see is that there are going to be 17 teams involved - that's a busy 32 game season. The 12 Premiership clubs are supplemented by Hearts, Hibernian, Falkirk and The Rangers from the Championship with League One's Dunfermline Athletic also involved. The season starts (for us) on August 5th - next Tuesday! http://spfl.co.uk/reserve-and-youth/
  2. Nonsence! So are we saying that 18 stone rugby players would improve if they lost weight? Ridiculous comparison .
  3. Hearach, there will be a bus as per usual for each away game, including Hamilton. John will post details asap.
  4. I can't see Subway being to keen to sponsor Old ham!

Calum is different from Agdestein, Evans, Roberts and Allen in that he has more roots in Inverness. He should be seen in the same light as Christie and Polworth able to use this club to reach the first team. If Dundee United can develop talent, then so can we.
  6. On 6th August 1945 the B-29 bomber named Enola Gay after the pilots mother dropped the A-bomb codenamed Little Boy on Hiroshima. 80,000 people lost their lives as a direct result of the blast and a further 60000 died within the year from the effects. If we dropped Doran from the same height would the impact wipe out Inverness?
  7. I would like to take the time to say how impressed how fast the ICT shop/office delivered my top. I ordered late yesterday afternoon and it was in Glasgow today. Good work. I expected it to arrive tomorrow at the earliest. Now on to the shirt itself. At first view from the pictures I was a hater. I planned to give the money to the club and add it to the 'others' Now I have it in my hands I think its a touch of class. Its' different in a good way.
  8. Doran doesn't have a weight problem. He probably moves around more than the majority of players on the park can't believe the slating he's getting on here. He gets forward, he comes back, he tackles, he shoots (albeit not very well most of the time) but he is deffo one of the more consistent performers in the team!

If another striker not coming in is to be the case I would be more than happy that Ferguson is there for backup. He may not have much experience in the first team but he is a confident player and I feel, just like Polworth and Christie, he would handle the pressure very well. The level of international football he is currently playing does not concern me. He is finding form at the moment and that's what really matters.

Although he does seem a prospect, It would be premature to place too high an expectation on the boy. Playing for Canada U19's is maybe not 'a really high level'. With due resect to Canadian football, we've recently had strikers who've played at the same level, or higher, for more 'established' international teams. All of them got punted without really making the grade with us. Toby Agdestein, U21 for Norway; Adam Evans, U19 for Republic of Ireland; Philip Roberts U19 for Republic of Ireland; Curtis Allen, U21 for Northern Ireland.
  11. Netball came top for me!!! That's worrying!
  12. Christie is definitely a player with potential. Many nice touches and has good vision. Doran looked like he was carrying some excess weight but maybe it is that new strip. Their number seven definitely outran him a few times when he tried to break with the ball. The passing game at times looks good especially when players find their man but at times it exposed us both at the back and when trying to find the killer pass in the final third after a multitude of short passes. It all nearly went awry in the first few minutes with Brill getting away with it and again a couple of times in the second half when passes across the back went astray. The most frustrating though is when the ball is played out and the break is on only for the ball to be played back - across - back - across - and then the opposition have got themselves all back behind the ball and reorganised. The passing game although effective at times will not work against all opposition and we need an alternative to be executed throughout games. There is nothing wrong with passes out to the widemen who can then run at the defence go past their man and put in a decent cross. I thought we looked most dangerous on the couple of occasions we executed that. Also the shooting routine being practised before the game was not put into practise during the match with the players continually looking for the next pass instead when in about at the edge of the box. Having said all that the team performance was far better than I expected and hopefully the new season will not be as bad as many seem to be predicting.
  13. There would appear to be a distinct lack of communication between the club and fat boys. It feels that there is a degree of sizeism taking place.
  14. Nobody who was at the game today could possibly argue that the strip was disliked by any sort of majority....place was swimming in people wearing them.

20 years on, I really prefer just to boil the merger down to four brief statements. It happened. It was controversial at the time. It worked. It has brought football in Inverness on light years since 1994.
