  1. Well I had to call off but thanks to @caley100 i got a wee message from Yogi 😍 e59f776c-df65-40e4-9460-1a56297e6195.mov
  2. Some character Yogi! got the impression he would have talked all night! Moff was an excellent compare, even managed a few laughs from his jokes! 😅 and well backed up by George. A great turnout by fans and were treated to a night of quizzes, chat and stories from Yogi and the players! The banter between Aaron, Kell and Yogi made me laugh.. really good crack! The penalty score/no score was tricky but Riley got lucky! I was at the Highland rugby match today and, like ICT came from behind for a great win! Well happy!
  3. Disney Time Again Yes it's that time again. Disney time. Disney matter if we win or lose to be honest. The Cup we all love to hate, or is it hate to love. The KDM Trophy fixtures are back and it's game five of six in the qualifying group stage with only eight teams dropping out after this stage. Those positions are occupied by 'B' Teams. Forfar Athletic are the hosts and they are one of the better placed teams only three points of the pace. For Inverness, it will be an opportunity for some of the defenders to redeem themselves after a less than impressive display last weekend against Hamilton, gifting goals like they were going out of fashion. The Caley Jags last two fixtures before the knockout stages commence with the introduction of the Premiership big boys are this one at Forfar and Dundee United B come North next month on the 11th November. the Game at Forfar kicks off at 3:00pm on Saturday 11th October. They have beaten Dons B, Hibs B and Dundee B in the KDM and their only defeat was to League1 Montrose by 1-0. Heaviest defeat was a 5-0 drubbing by East Kilbride in a League2 game at the end of August. Our team from last weekends defeat at Broadwood Stadium. It wasn't a defensive masterclass, however, just the two defeats in the League so far and none in the KDM Trophy. Maybe freshen up the defence and get Ross Millen, Mathew Strachan and Mitchell Robertson on from the start. The Manager of the Month award curse eventually caught up with us at Broadwood as Scott Kellacher won the award for the second consecutive Month having gone through September with a 100% record. Unfortunately we went to play Hamilton Accies in October and suffered badly from the curse. Hopefully the weather is better this weekend and we can get back to playing football the way it should be played. 4. Ok, so September 30th came and went without an email from FIFA, unless you count the numerous emails offering a guaranteed ticket if I spend hundreds of dollars on some card pack or other. It was a longshot of course, but I was definitely hoping to be one of the lucky ones in the estimated 4.5m people who registered for the VISA presale for tickets for World Cup 2026. Alas it was not meant to be, probably also in part due to the fact that I restricted myself to only the games taking place in Toronto, which only has 6 games overall, or just 270,000 tickets. Many of these will be part of hospitality packages starting at $2500 per ticket, or allocations yet to be released or held for teams and officials. A cat in hell definitely had a better chance than me! But we stay positive and wait for the next round of ticketing in phase 2. Why only Toronto you ask? Well quite apart from the geography involved that means I can get to Glasgow quicker (and cheaper) than I can take a domestic flight to Vancouver, Canadians for the most part are avoiding travel to our nearest Southern neighbours. Recent reports are showing a 20-30% downturn in cross border travel since the administration there announced a desire to make Canada the 51st state and imposed huge trade tariffs on exports from Canada. End result is that popular destinations like Las Vegas, Florida, Texas, and northern border cities like Buffalo, Detroit and Seattle are all reporting economic impacts from lower-than-normal visitor numbers. With the Iranian delegation also being denied entry visas to even watch the World Cup draw in December now that they have qualified, and other immigration policies coming into force, including a new pricey "visa integrity fee" for anyone not in the Visa Waiver program this tournament is shaping up to have a lot of geo-political under-currents that might affect attendance. I am going to make a prediction that FIFA will somehow make sure that Iran is drawn to play in either Mexico or in Canada and hope they don't qualify for the last 32. Group L seems a good bet, with two group stage matches in Toronto although the other is in the USA. Overall, this turmoil could make demand for tickets in Mexico and Canada a lot higher and chances of getting a ticket a lot lower. The UK is part of the visa waiver program so no visa issues there (for now) but anyone planning the World Cup would do well to start checking the visa situation now as these things are notoriously slow ... I read online this week that the current visa situation for those requiring them (mostly Asia, Africa and South America) is something like 186 days so it's cutting it quite fine! On the plus side, the cheapest prices in Toronto did seem to start at an affordable USD$60 cost when I looked. Admittedly this was tucked high in the stands in the corner, but still in the stadium nonetheless ... We will see how dynamic pricing affects this. The secondary market (stubhub and others) already has that huge matchup between TBD and TBD on Jun 17th selling for anywhere from US$750 to $1000 per ticket but once more tickets hit the market, and the teams are known that could rise or fall ... In my last blog I mentioned that Toronto would get an infrastructure dry run on a big crowd attending BMO Field (sorry Toronto Stadium) when the Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami entourage came to town. I was ready to head down and watch the game with my son until I got the proverbial "offer I could not refuse". Despite me constantly telling him it should be Ross Tokely, my son has CR7 as his "GOAT" so was not overly bothered about seeing Messi again. He saw the game in-person last year and that was good enough for him, so I put my tickets up for sale on Ticketmaster for a hefty price with us agreeing to go if they did not sell and to stay home if they did. The price was higher than I expected to get as I was secretly hoping they would not sell. Surprisingly, someone wanted my tickets so desperately that they paid the asking price, so we sat down to watch it on TV on Saturday afternoon. Although Messi, Suarez, Busquets, De Paul, and Alba all started, the game itself was a bit of a snoozefest. Messi played well but was no match for man-of-the-match Sean Johnson, the Toronto FC goalkeeper who thwarted him at every turn. As with last year, half the stadium was sporting crisp new Argentina or Miami shirts and there were several pitch incursions, so it was indeed a bit of a circus. At least last year we got to see Messi's bodyguard prowl the sidelines like a panther stalking anyone who dared to try and reach him, but he got told by the league towards the end of last season last year that he was no longer permitted to do that on a match day so that element of fun was removed. By the end of the game, Lionel Messi's appearance in the 1-1 draw pretty much paid about 50% of my 2026 season ticket cost. A pretty good day all around. Sergio Busquets announced before the game that he would retire at the end of the season and now Jordi Alba has said the same thing. It would not surprise me if Luis Suarez was next as the man looks in agony every time he runs. Have to be honest in saying that they were all good to watch in their time in MLS. They may not have been in their prime, but skill does not fade, only pace and fitness (and Suarez's knees). Unfortunately, this dry run may be closer to how the world Cup will go for me too ... 20 miles north of BMO Field, but so near yet so far if the next round of ticketing is not kind. Keeping fingers crossed and keeping my eyes open for other avenues
  5. Still unbeaten in KDM Matchday 5 of of the KDM Trophy saw Inverness travel to Station Park to take on Jim Weir's League2 side Forfar Athletic. Inverness had won their four previous fixtures in this seasons Challenge Cup and topped the table ahead of this fixture where their opponents had won three of their four fixtures. In the League campaigns, the Caley Jags had lost just their second game last week and sit third in League1. Forfar went down 2-1 at Elgin City in a League2 fixture last Saturday and they sit at the top end of mid-table. Billy Mckay and Alfie Bavidge were up top for the Caley Jags with Liam Sole and Adam MacKinnon the providers. Ross Millen and Mitchell Robertson came into the back four with Devine dropping to the bench and MacLeod moving into midfield. Alfie Stewart has been representing Aberdeen B in this competition and he is at Elgin City today.Forfar had top scorer Martin Rennie up front with Scott Shepherd and Neil Stafford swapped with Marc McCallum in goal. Inverness continued their winning run in the KDM Trophy. However, Forfar took a deserved first half lead through top scorer Martin Rennie who was injured in the process and promptly substituted. A stern talking to at the interval brought about a change in fortune as MacLeod and MacKinnon put the visitors ahead within ten minutes. Luis Longstaff added a third and Billy Mckay got a wonderful fourth at the end. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A relatively quiet opening but there was a timely reminder that we would have to work hard to get anything from this game. Ten minutes in and Ross Munro produced a tremendous save to stop Stuart Morrison opening the scoring. Almost immediately after this warning, Paul Allan's curling free kick shaved the outside of the post. The hosts were prepared to have a go though and Craig Slater fired high and wide with Scott Shepherd going closer without troubling the keeper. Alfie Bavidge dragged an effort wide before the warning became a reality. Martin Rennie opened the scoring after waltzing through the visitors defence. Unfortunately for him he was replaced by Nathan Cannon minutes later after getting injured scoring his goal. That woke us up from our slumber and Paul Allan had an effort blocked before Billy Mckay and Adam MacKinnon were both denied by Neil Stafford in the home goal. Ross Millen took a knock before the break and was replaced by Joe Chalmers with MacLeod dropping deeper to right back. Still, it was the hosts that were creating the better opportunities and Jake Sutherland fluffed his cross and a grateful Munro Gathered. Bavidge and Billy Mckay tried to respond right on the interval but failed to find the target. HALF TIME: 1-0 Luis Longstaff replaced Liam Sole at the break as Inverness looked to inject a bit more urgency into this lacklustre side. It paid of five minutes into the second half when Calum MacLeod took advantage of pedestrian defending following a corner to level the game and Adam MacKinnon did likewise five minutes later. MacLeod then shot over, but Forfar were far from out of it and Angus Mailer was thwarted by another superb save by Ross Munro. However, the wind might have been taken out of the Loons sails when substitute Luis Longstaff scored a third for the Caley Jags drilling home on the end of a tidy move forward. Munro was heading for a MotM performance as he saved from Nathan Cannon. Billy Mckay took a knock with twenty minutes remaining but recovered and Longstaff was denied a second by Stafford as the subs came in. Billy Mckay headed wide ten minutes from the end. He would do better in the 90th minute though as he shot home from the edge of the box to complete the scoring with a classy finish. He'll be glad he stayed on the park now. FULL TIME: 1-4 Good effort by Forfar who caused the Caley Jags plenty of problems, especially in the first half. The second half fightback was enough to see the Loons off, but it was not as easy as the score suggests. We complete our KDM group fixtures when Dundee United visit on Tuesday November 11th. Inverness will be one of the seeded sides which means they will avoid a Championship side in the first knock-out round. 6. By "they" you are meaning one guy yeah? One man (who doesn't even sit on the committee) doesn't represent the whole Club! I was annoyed that AVFTT made it seem that he was involved with the club, but then maybe he never sepcified either. The new Inverness Thistle FC committee are largely made up of people who weren't involved in the original club and some former supporters. The Club have frequently stated that they're not a continuation of the original club but instead are a new club who wish to respect the identity of the old. They are also on record wishing ICT the best. Again, one embittered fan doesn't represent a whole club!! And you know what, I've actually been rather impressed at how professional they have been working behind the scenes. It really puts the likes of Morrison and Gardiner to further shame. ITFC have a clear strategy in place for the playing team going forward but also a mission plan for how they wish to serve the community in a positive way. Surely the fact their existence allows for more young boys to aspire to a higher level of local football is a good thing? They are also hoping to create a football training programme for kids with ASN. So, Fair play to them. I wish them every success! Also, I've been over to watch a couple games and was amazed at the level of support - there was a crowd of over 200 both times! Instead of castigating them, maybe ICT fans should actually be asking, what have we done wrong the past 31 years that 200 folk would rather follow this new team? What have we done to serve the community? Food for thought
