  2. Racking up tens or even hundreds of millions of pounds of debt with no intention of ever paying it back boils down to cheating and if clubs are able to get away with it by setting up a newco then it defeats the whole purpose of having a league competition in the first place. If the current club who are being linked with a newco are allowed to do so then i sincerely hope that there are severe implications for them. If there arent then i strongly think i would lose any urge to follow my team in a sham league. Given the choice i would rather watch my team in the Highland League than in an SPL that condones cheating The SPL is one of the most uncompetitive leagues in the world given that there were/are only two clubs capable of winning it, if it were to allow clubs to win leagues/cups based on cheating the tax system then it would make us even more of a laughing stock than we currently are at the moment!
  3. full story here: http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/aberdeen/303285-spl-to-create-under-20-league/ I'm pretty sure that Terry had indicated that he would prefer the reintroduction of the reserve league as opposed to the U20 league Does anyone actually know how this differs from the U19 we have at presently Will this really gap the bridge in development between youth players and first team players? Not in my opinion Seems a lot of faff if the only change is going to be allowing youngsters so play year longer in the youth league Bring back the reserve league if you ask me
  4. I havent been in for a while, since well before Colin left, has it changed much?

  6. Didnt back a winner here unfortunately, dont think many folk would have backed the masters to finish the way it did so fair play to anyone who did I read a story yesterday about a punter who backed Bubba at incorrect odds of around 1000-1, the bookie made a mistake in printing the slip and quoted Tom Watsons odds of 1000-1 instead of Bubbas actual odds of 40-1. the bookie paid out on the 40-1 odds leaving the punter a little annoyed to say the least!
  7. Quite amusing that Rangers fans feel they are hard done by yet other SPL fans deem this prospective 'punishment' too light. I think Rangers fans feel that the pain of suffering a 10 point deduction in the SPL and seeing the league go to their fiercest rivals is enough punishment however the severity of their financial dealings from the last ten years means that whether they like it or not they are going to suffer a long time for their actions and quite rightly so If it so happens that a newco is formed and they are allowed re-entry to the SPL then IMO they should be prepared to accept any restrictions/point deductions that come their way. No club should ever be allowed to rack up so much debt through financial mis-management and be able to wipe out their debt/problems in a matter of months through a CVA or newco option. There must be punishment to fit the crime here Only by the threat of strong punishments will clubs be deterred from using tax dodges in the future. Whether the proposals of the SPL/SFA are the correct ones is a completely different question!
  8. The comments, IMO, are clearly a dig at the achievements of ICT and smack of jealousy that we got the the SPL before them. Whilst his comment may be factually correct we have both played and won our way through the divisons and have grown substantially over the last couple of decades, the fact remains that we were first to do it however. Seeing as there is no pyramid system in Scotland connecting junior and amateur leagues then we both effectively started at the bottom so his comments dont really hold any credence. Both ourselves and County have done fantastically well to reach the upper echelons of Scottish football, we did it first in the Highlands, anyone who doesnt like will just have to deal with it!
  9. I admire what they have done because, like ourselves, they have had a pretty quick rise to the top given our failry humble beginnings. However, while they may not have had similar assistance to us from INE or the local council it cannot be claimed that they have got as far as they have on the back of hard work alone alone. I would be very interested to see how much money County have thrown at wages and signing players over the last 10 years. They have got where they are through a combination of hard work and a benefactor with a wealth of resources to call upon when needed. Not many clubs would have the financial backing to remain a full time club if they were relegated to the second division! Other first division managers have been very vocal (Pressley to name one) in claiming that County have far greater resources available to them than other first division clubs so while they must be congratulated on their success the background on how they have been able to achieve it should not be forgotten
  10. Well done County, a hard fought championship in a tough league to get out of Have to say I am really looking forward to the derbies next season
  11. Of all the sports i have spectated at in recent times, and there have been quite a few, I have to say that football is without a shadow of a doubt the least value for money of all of them. I can count on one hand how many times ive been to football games in the last 5 years or so and felt that i got value for money, incidentlally none of those times have been in Scotland!
  12. We are so consistently inconsistent at the moment i dont have a clue how we are going to perform in the next game, still live in hope of 3 points though
  13. pennies compared to the £93million they potentially owe the HMRC, Wonder how much of that we'll see back, not much i'd reckon
  14. For me the Sir Alex and Beckham issue showed to me that Sir Alex wasnt going to take any prima donna bullplop and told Becks that it was my way or the highway. IMO that shows that SAF wasnt adaptable at all, he wasnt willing to change his morals or rules in the dressing room for anyone. Adaptability in reacting to teams and their tactics is a completely different thing to changing your team rules to suit one player, that for me isnt adaptability but more bowing to player pressure. If you were to say that SAF is great at adapting his team tactics to suit game situations then i would completely agree, he does not and will not ever adapt his team ethics for a player getting ideas above his station. IMO Terry should stay but needs to work on his use of subs and changing tactics in game to suit the opposition. If the long ball tactic aint working then dont use it! He should get another season and if we are still misfiring then new management may be required then.
  15. Would love to see Rory do it but still have doubts, i'm confident Rory will be in the mix come the final day though. I have a feeling that Tiger could do well
  16. He has signed for St Johnstone, he may well be a player with quite a lot of baggage but i think he will be a good signing for them No confirmation on how long the deal is but the Saints have a pretty formidable frontline at the moment with Sandaza, Sheridan and Riordan. Given our striking problems of late i am pretty envious of their striking options at the moment
  17. Story on the Inverness Courier website here: http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/News/250000-investment-in-Caley-Thistle-29032012.htm
  18. Not only does it dishearten regular fans but how on earth are we to attract new fans if we continue to put out useless displays on the park. I am always on at friends (who either dont support local teams or dont usally follow football) in Inverness to come along to games and last night i took my fourth guest this season to a home game. They were hugely suprised how poor we were and i think i would be hard pushed to tempt them back. This is not the first time this is happened when ive taken friends to home games, it really doesnt do us any favours
  19. that for me is an excellent suggestion. I think if you relieve some of the defensive duties asked of Tansey then he has more scope to get forward and link the defence to attack. Tansey and Ross in the midfield in front of Jones would be hugely more creative than having three deep central midfielders IMO
  20. I could come on here and criticise all the players for the performance last night but that for me wasnt the biggest worry for me. The biggest worries i have of last night was the 'tactics' and 'personnel' chosen by the manager. I agree it must have been difficult to change things after putting on a good first half display at Aberdeen however we were playing a largely average Aberdeen side and it is clear to see that St Johnstone are playing well this season and may require a different approach. Whether we have a scouting system in place that analyses oppositions' normal tactics i dont know but it our tactics did not work last night. It was clear to anyone there last night that lumping high balls to a small forward was not working, this doesnt work ever, so why on earth were we happy to persist with it! Our midfield didnt gel at all last night. Tansey came here as an attacking midfielder who can score goals but he constantly plays deep and to be honest his set-pieces and shooting have been very poor of late. Foran started very well in his new role as a holding midfielder however with Tansey and OTJ basically playing the same role do we really need 3 holding midfielders? Where is the creativity? Set pieces were a shambles last night, do were practice them in training? All we did was lump the ball into the box and hope for the best Sutherland and Tade are wasted out on the wings and by the time Terry saw fit to change it, it was too late and his decision to put Tansey at right midfield was a strange one. We really need players like Hayes and Doran back to have any success on the wings Playing McKay up front alone was a risk and playing high balls to him was lunacy however on the rare occasion he got the ball to him, in space, in the box, he did very well and looked capable of creating something. It didnt happen often enough though I have to say last night left feeling really really disheartened and i havent felt this low about watching Caley in a long time. I dont get to many away games through other commitments and costs and i can honestly say i cannot remember the last time i left TCS thinking we played good football, were spot on tactically and i have optimism for the future. It seems on the rare occasion we play good football we are away from homee and youve got to ask why, i cant for the life of me understand why Bring on next season, get some new players in, dead wood out and start again
  21. Just back from the game, what a dreadful game, couldnt pass, couldnt shoot, couldnt hold onto the ball, were second to most balls and in general we seemed to lack any creativity, enthusiasm or fight. I will write a more detailed synopsis in the morning but that was painful to watch. Only positive point for me was Tokelys performance, if it wasnt for him we would have conceded a lot more. Penalty was handed on a plate to St Johnstone, what Tade was doing charging like a bull into the player i will never know
  22. Veering slighty off topic but i would love to see a video clip containing all of our rejected penalty appeals, from what i can remember there were quite a few stonewallers that we didnt get. Back on topic, for me i think the squad needs tinkered with. If we keep roughly the same squad, in terms of players on 1 year deals extending then we need another striker and a couple of defenders IMO. We really need to be running with 4 players capable of playing centre half. Our scoring has been a low this season but it has been made ten times worse by the fact we have conceded so many!
  23. Esson Meekings----Tokely----Williams----Gillet/Shinnie ----Foran----Tudur-Jones---- Ross--------Tansey------------------Tade ----McKay---- Gillet in at left back if he's fit. Shinnie if not Thoughts? Any more injuries we have to contend with?
  24. Sounds like this may be nearing a conclusion: http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/inverness/301158-ex-pat-group-to-acquire-major-stake-in-inverness-caledonian-thistle/
  25. I certainly dont have a problem with them groundsharing with us, will bring us added revenue and i'm all for two north teams playing in the SPL
