  1. I'm inclined to agree with Alex: "twenty-ten" follows the format of previous centuries. The only reason for the initial question, I think, is that it's a wee bit awkward using that format for the first ten years. What did you call 2009 - was it twenty-nine or twenty-oh-nine or just plain two thousand and nine? I wonder what they called the first ten years of the last century - was 1901 called nineteen one, nineteen-oh-one or what? Could we have a little help here, Scarlet Pimple!!! :P
  2. It's called IRONY. Some folk just don't get it!
  3. The title of the thread says it all. ICT is currently regrouping having been relegated from the SPL. Old stalwarts have moved on; new players have moved in and are now starting to gel. The team is gradually making progress and is rising up the first division. Who in their wildest dreams seriously believed we would bounce straight back up after all these changes? Yet there is now a glimmer of hope. Top 4 would be quite an achievement - promotion, though unlikely, is now a faint possibility. It's quite amusing reading this forum after a defeat or a draw - all doom and gloom, "Butcher must go", etc., etc., "No chance of promotion now", blah blah blah, yet when we win the forum is noticeably quiet - very few postings on the main board on the Sunday or Monday following a Saturday win. As the title says, "Time for a reality check"
  4. HA! - Spotted the self-destruct option! :P
  5. Oh well - you live and learn. Personally, I quite like Section C. A bit of noise, bit of crack, even a song now and then, and you know it'll still be there next week!
  6. Clearly I haven't quite grasped the concept of Section G. Is this thing portable?
  7. One way of looking at it, is that we are at last witnessing the arrival of the first true ICT fans - ones that have never had any association with either of the 2 original clubs. They are young and raw but they'll grow up soon enough and learn to respect their fellow supporters. To many of them, the original Caley and Thistle supporters are irrelevant dinosaurs and as yet they don't fully realise that we all want to sing from the same song-sheet. But they are the future and we are seeing the evolution of the club's support, and perhaps this website. Many of the 'Old Guard' have moved on and new cliques are being formed. Those who were 'in' before may feel like outsiders now. Hey - melodrama is allowed in this thread - isn't it!? I'd like to think there's a place for us all in this forum and I kinda like Ronnyc's idea of newcomers having to earn posting rights - after all a lot of the grief is caused by young posters who seem to have nothing better to do all day than contribute multitudes of meaningless or abusive posts to this site. Restricted posting rights during a probationary period may well be the solution - that way the mods can initially vet newcomers for mischief. Of course there is the danger of the site becoming sterile, and only 'approved' banter being permitted. They do say that teenagers' humour and banter only appeals to other teenagers - perhaps it's the same with old gits and we don't want to end up alienating any group of site users on the basis of age.
  8. The problem is the budget the SFA would be willing to allocate. Any decent manager could secure better conditions in club football. What Scotland needs is an affordable young(ish) manager with unlimited belief in his own abilities, but untried at this level. Step forward, Craig Brewster! :010:
  9. Haha! If you think "body art" looks good on women, take a look at some of the tattooed monstrosities lumbering onto the stage on the Jeremy Kyle show! Yes ladies, if you want to go for the masculine look, get a tattoo. And no, I'm not sexist - they look ridiculous on men too. :020:
  10. Craig Brewster - 3rd time lucky!
  11. Most football teams represent the town, city or area in which they're based. Rangers are different in that they've set out their stall as a team who represent Protestants who detest Catholics. This means they can have a fan-base covering the entire UK, and beyond. Celtic are similar. So it's quite feasible that there are Cockneys who hate Catholics and are consequently drawn to Rangers.
  12. I was part of Section B on Saturday and at one point we made a hooruva noise. And there was absolutely no booing in Section B. Can any of these so-called "fans" in Section G beat that? B)
  13. Ah yes - the Kai-tai (how do you spell it anyway?) Bugis street has been cleaned up beyond recognition. It's now a shopping centre. Some wild nights there in the 70's! :D
  14. Hastings was one of our best and most consistent players and I would certainly welcome him back. A lot of our fans never forgave him for his brief spell with Ross County. Didn't he initially join Hamilton on loan?
  15. Our mighty neighbours have already peaked this season! Having humped the mighty Ayr and the mighty Morton, perhaps a little pessimism is the only thing that'll help us to avoid disappointment on Saturday. I'm cautiously optimistic though!
  16. Just back from the game - well, lets face it, we don't usually have much to celebrate after a home game! Have to agree with all that's been written before, Foran being the standout, and maybe Golly too. There was nothing between the teams up till the first goal and then we suddenly came to life. Could we maybe come to life a bit earlier next time? I wonder how it would have ended if Morton had scored first though, which at one stage was quite likely. Not being negative - just adding a bit of balance to the euphoria, which is maybe a bit premature. Great result though and I'm cautiously optimistic.
  17. This thread seems to be populated largely by angry and abusive young men, so I have this advice to offer. It's the hormones, lads, and you'll eventually grow out of it, and become pleasant young adults. In the meantime, try to find yourself a nice girl to go out with. That might calm you down! What you really need is sex, but one thing at a time . . . :025:
  18. Fan is an abbreviation of 'fanatic' so I would expect fans to be a bit more extreme in their support than that!
  19. When things are going well there can be a great atmosphere in Section G, or indeed the whole of the North Stand. Conversely, when things are not going so well, those in Section G, generally being the most vocal, are most likely to give vent to their feelings, often in the most foul-mouthed manner imaginable. Don't get me wrong - I'm no prude, and can be pretty fluent myself in certain circumstances, but most people of a more mature persuasion know how far to go. The trouble with this Section G thing is that the atmosphere is often ruined by silly wee boys who don't know when to shut up. I've seen parents with young kids there who are positively intimidated by the potty-mouthed yobs they find themselves sitting beside. I'm sure that with a little thought, these young lads could create an atmosphere without necessarily ruining it for all around them. Sorry - but I'm with the fat-ar$ed lady on this one!
  20. An unmistakable sense of deja vu here. Remember how we used to have a reputation for choosing exceptionally good managers on a budget? Haha - I like that!
  21. Aye, well . . . . in that case yer desktop's fkd. Get a new one! :baby-pram:
  22. Aye - I remember George Fraser - ended up selling cars at Argyle Car Sales in Tomnahurich Street. Didn't he do well!
  23. There are members who post at the drop of a hat, and their posts appear on just about every thread. There are members who only post on subjects of interest to them. There are members who have a life outside this forum and may go for days, or even weeks without posting, or even visiting the forum. Also, I'm sure Board Members, players and management feel they are perfectly entitled to post on these forums too - some may even feel they have a duty to do so, or at least to read the various posts to get a feel for the mood of the fans. I'm not quite sure who "The Muppets" are but I have an idea. Been away too long maybe!
