  1. It's a diddy cup if we get knocked out. Otherwise it's not. B)
  2. Perhaps "hate" is the wrong word, but for the purpose of this thread I'm happy to use the word to describe teams I love to see getting humped. Gretna was one, Livingston another and Rangers and Celtic. Used to "hate" Elgin City in the Highland League days but now I will them to win, now and again. Ross County is a strange one - I used to like them in the old HL days and was quite surprised to discover how much their supporters "hated " us. I suppose, as a result of that, I've gone off them a bit now, but the fact that they hate us and we don't really bother "hating" them is probably a measure of our superiority. Of course now that we're in the same division as them and may even find that they're promotion rivals, I really do want them to get humped every week. But that's different. :D
  3. Am I the only one who likes the idea of Scottish players playing for Scottish teams? And in our case, predominantly Highland players playing for ICT. I think it's a lot easier to be supportive of and loyal to a team which is representative of the area in which it is based.

    Catch 22

It's much simpler than that. Scottish football teams fall into just 5 categories: 1. There's the super-rich teams (Rangers and Celtic) who will always play in the SPL. 2. There's the big teams (eg Hearts, Hibs, Dundee Utd., Aberdeen, generally from cities of 100,000+ population) who will normally play in the SPL, however, the occasional crisis may see them relegated to Division 1. 3 And the quite big teams - that's us folks, along with the likes of Falkirk, Dunfermline, St. Johnstone, generally from towns/catchment areas of 50,000 - 100,000, which will frequently flit from SPL to Division 1 and back - the SPL/Div.1 bias being generally dependant on the size of the town/catchment area. 4. The medium teams - pop./catchment area 20,000 - 50,000 - division 1 or 2 (see above) 5. The wee teams - Division 2 and 3 with maybe the very occasional foray into division 1. Sorry folks, but that's the rules - don't wish to appear negative or anything, but no amount of singing or shouting is going to change that! :)
  5. Aye - the clue is in the name! :)
  6. There have been times when I was quite impressed with the clarity of the PA system, although the majority of times it's been dire. I'm no expert in these matters but perhaps some knobs need tweaking! :P
  7. Remind me someone - what division are Annan in? :P
  8. Don't get married!
  9. The general tone of this thread shows what a sad little nation we have become!
  10. Perhaps you're being unkind Johnboy. The way I see it, these tennis fans are unhindered by your petty prejudices and in the absence of an English representative at these later stages of the tournament are lending their full support to the boy from their neighbouring nation across the border. And of course he is the only remaining BRITISH player in the tournament so they are quite rightly supporting him, just as you and me supported Tim Henman in years gone by! :D
  11. Yeah, that would be some haul!! :clapping03: Good one though! Well done Pugsy.
  12. That reminds me - I was going to go fishing tonight! :clapping03:
  13. No - I still prefer "The Dump"!
  14. Brian Thompson scoring against Annan Athletic in the cup and celebrating by responding to previous "sheep-sh**ging b*****ds" taunts from the away support by simulating the sh**ging of a sh**p! :018: :thumb04:
  15. I gather Lamont Graham, or "Scoobies" (formerly captain of the 5th company) died last month. Anyone know what age he was?
  16. Don't want to shift now. No need to bring the club into town - we won't have to wait too long before the town comes to TCS. It's happening already - major developments all along Stadium Road. Bucht, Bought, Bught - any other variations? Can't see us ever moving to the Bught Park anyway - too many other people, groups and clubs are using it. It's an essential facility as it is.
  17. Wishful thinking Alex, but I like the sentiment!
  18. But there are always people who CHOOSE to be offended by such relatively inoffensive comments - usually (supposedly) on behalf of others. There's probably a name for it. It's a bit like the BLACKboard thing . . . . . . oooooh don't get me started!
  19. Aye - Parky hits the nail square on the head. These aren't the words of a tree-hugging apologist, that's for sure!
  20. I neither love nor hate Brewster. All I see is a guy who failed as a manager, and perhaps realising he was unlikely to make a career in management, decided to pull on his shirt one last time and reach the finishing post doing what he does best. Professional football is a relatively short career and he's managed to squeeze more years out of it than most. Best of luck to him, I say, and I hope he manages another season or maybe more as a top first division player before being forced to pack it in and start a new career. I honestly think he did as well as he could for ICT - unfortunately not good enough. Sadly there are those want blood - nothing less will do, and I pity them.
  21. Yeah - I think that was him.
  22. The PA system sounds pretty good now - there used to be problems with it. The clarity is excellent when set up properly. Agree about the stadium announcer though - obviously NOT a football man (Motherwell v. Dundee!) and one of the most irritating voices I've heard in a long time. There was somebody doing it a while ago with a good Inverness (or thereabouts) accent who came across very well. Don't think it was Titch though.

    Djebi-zadi

Aye - he confused the hell out of the opposition yesterday by dispossessing them with great tackles and then passing the ball straight back to them! Reckon they were so bewildered by that tactic it took the sting out of their attack.
  24. Brought my 2 along and can only say it was a great success. They were highly amused by a strange looking grey-bearded fellow, sitting along the row from us in Section G (North Stand), who kept standing up and singing, so we all joined in. (Give me an "I" - give me a break!! ) Yeah, the singing was up an octave but who cares - great to see so many youngsters in the stands!
