I am delighted to let you know that Jaimie Duff has had a late call up to the Scotland under 21's. I think he is a bit of a star in the making. I am really pleased for Jaimie, but also for ICT to be recognised in this way. :018: :thumb04:
  2. Pretty much my understanding of events - Dennis was made the scapegoat for a poor team performance. (I do think that his agent had tried to add something on at the last minute (without Dennis's knowledge) and this gave the club the get out they were looking for and withdrew the offer). Very poorly handled IMHO. I know that Dennis and his family were settled and wanted to stay in the area, so he was happy to sign on the terms agreed.

However, up until now it has always been a rarity at our club. In fact, I can't recall ever having seen our players talking back to or swearing at the management, and the fact that they now seem to have started doing this makes me suspect that things are definitely going very wrong in the dressing room. Maybe so but lets not make things worse by lip reading and assuming what was said Okay - fair enough, but do the words really matter. I think the point of this topic is that the players don't seem to be showing the respect that they maybe should towards their manager. It may happen at other clubs, but not often at ours. I'm sure the tension felt by the manager is also felt by the players and as they are naturally competitive people I'm sure tempers can flare up from time to time. I was just very surprised by the response from this particular player and I wasn't the only one who saw it or read his lips. The bench were well within earshot so they will have no doubt what was said.

I was sitting very close to Brewnoclue and I certainly was very aware of the unrest. I didn't hear the words from one player, but I'm quite good at lip reading. ;) :018: First word definitely began with F and I think probably contained about 4 letters and was followed by something that looked very like OFF. However, this was then followed with a longer word beginning with a W, not sure that was a sign of respect to the manager. I was very surprised to see these particular players talking back. Quote of the night from someone in the Main Stand, just as Malky was talking to Barry just before he went on to the park. 'And you're trying to tell him how to play football' :thumb04: Bit like trying to teach your Granny to suck eggs I suppose.
  5. Certainly should make work a bit easier on Monday. Some smiling faces for a change.
  6. I spoke to him on the phone a number of times and he was a really nice down to earth guy. First of all the contact was regarding the T-shirts and he just gave me his mobile number and asked me to contact him directly about the order. We in turn raised money for a charity he supported, which was a childrens hospice in Carlisle. I dropped the money off at their ground when I was on holiday, they had a great staff and his son accepted the money on his behalf. I spoke to him before the cup final where he authorised a block booking for us to take a bus down, even after the game was officially sold out. He had a great vision to get kids back to the game and invested a lot in community schemes as well as the rocky the rooster club which gave members free admission to all home games. Membership was only a tenner so it was a great idea. Unfortunately these things were unsustainable without his ongoing investment. He loved every minute of his involvement in the game. I actually only met him once and that was when we played them here, he wasn't well enough to make that length of journey but he decided to come anyway with someone else to do the driving. A true fan at heart. In my eyes a great guy and a huge loss to the game. Now a huge loss to his family. He was obviously out in his garden which I think is good that he was still able to get about, his garden and his animals meant the world to him. So his son Craig and all the family - my thoughts are with you all. RIP Brooks
  7. You bet me to it, I just popped in to do exactly the same thing.

In a bid to try to inject a bit of positivity to this forum it would seem that 'The Big One' was a big success this morning. Lots of cars and loads of punters. I believe they sold all of the spaces they had allocated. Wonder if the club shop being open was worth it. Good idea though, kids come along and sell their old toys etc and then spend their money in the shop. Win win
  9. Well I've said keep him for now. Don't know what our options are. Think his jacket is certainly on a shoogly peg and like everyone else I was gutted with the half time score today. His time is definitely limited if performances don't improve, so let's see how he handles the pressure. I do agree that Mr Bennet and the board have to take some responsibility for the run of results, but then again so do some of our players. I would however love to see Barry Wilson involved in the coaching set up. ICT at heart, the club matters to him so I think he would do well, I know he is well respected in the dressing room. He would also have a great mentor/critic in his Dad. Robbo with Barry as assistant anyone?
  10. Yes I stand corrected, Zoo have moved premises within the centre. Still good news though
  11. It's not a new shop, the shop is already there. Zoo is a designer shop on the first floor opposite Debenhams. Especially on the run up to Christmas it is important we have a town centre presence and as this is a privately owned local shop I would assume they won't be taking as huge a comission as Debenhams did.
  12. As the schools are still off, I thought I would remind folk that our reserves are playing Celtic reserves today with a 3pm kick off. Never mind the credit crunch - entrance is free and a good chance to see some of our youth players. I would imagine we will have a very young team out with us having a cup game tomorrow night, but if you've nothing else on it's worth popping down.

Glad I thought to record the game on BBC Alba. The visit to the Innes Bar was worth it alone. Quality quote from TM4TJ - thanking our feeder club for some good games over the years. :thumb04: :018:
  14. As far as I'm aware no disciplinary action has been taken as yet.

I believe he has damaged ligaments which can be as bad if not worse than a break
  16. Thats life mate. It was the same in school, its the same everywhere. Get on with it. It's difficult to read every post but if you report the posts we get e-mail alerts and can deal with things quite quickly. Just checked and no reported posts!
  17. I was down at the stadium last night and can confirm that as expected the South (away) stand is now completely sold out. Tickets still available for the North Stand and I think there might even still be some limited availability in the family section. Ticket office is open until 8pm this week so if you are thinking about going but haven't got your tickets yet try and get them today if you can. There are a number of season ticket holders who are away on holiday, so even if they reach near sell out on paper, there is bound to still be a few gaps around the ground.

I'm not sure this was ever stickied, but if it was I'm not sure why someone would have unstickied it. Maybe Caley D and or Scotty can investigate. I'll happily sticky it now for you though.

I'll be on holiday so might make the game from Edinburgh. Do you need to be a member of the Supporters' Club to travel?

  21. Sounds great guys - you go for it. Just one point for the Celtic game, can you make sure if you don't have a season ticket for section G that you change seats for this game and if you don't have a season ticket you buy your tickets soon to ensure that you can all sit together. Remember the increase in crowd will mean people having tickets for these seats so to avoid any problems sort it out as soon as possible. If you want to do these things in the future give me a shout and we can see if the Supporters' Trust can help out in any way, even if it was just to do the bulk ordering of the flags etc to sell on to all interested. We will try to help where we can.
  22. Congratulations. Hope all is well and he doesn't have too many sleepless nights.

  24. I can't understand why you would use an emotive phrase like "milk the fans of their money". Nobody is compelled to go to a football match, the prices are set and it is up to the public to determine whether the price is a fair exchange for the entertainment on offer. The board and senior management have a responsibility to maximise revenue at any opportunity and if that means taking advantage of the fact that OF games have a considerably bigger appeal than the other 15 or so, they should not be criticised for it. Also the downturn in attendances and season tickets is likely to be largely down to the dreaded Credit Crunch. When money is tight, football is surely one of the first things that most are going to have to sacrifice (especially for families). Maybe we should lobby Gordon Brown - forget this energy efficiency rubbish, give the people what they want, free season tickets for your local club! An extra ?4 per ticket is a bit OTT, bearing in mind this game is in the middle of the school holidays and live on tele with an early kick off. I don't think this will be a sell out game. An average family would have to find an extra ?16 just to get through the gate. If I didn't have a season ticket I would be staying home to watch it on the tele.
