Born in Inverness, under a toadstool as I understand it. Once I had climbed on top of the toadstool and looked around I never looked back and wide horizons beckone. Childhood memories from Inverness until age 18 Started watching the Caley at Telford Street about the year 1952 -1954. Watched the stand burn down at Telford Street from my back bedroom window one afternoon wondering what on earth was going on. Lived in England, Germany - R.A.F., London (1 year), back to Scotland then off to Canada where I have been for the past 39 years or so. Found out about the progress of Caley from Mantis and he is to blame for everything that has followed.

Nah! It's too much of a squeeze methinks. It would be too exhausting for him to ever try...

Has ICT ever considered getting a lottery licence?

Would be charmed if our new goalie rummelled up the opposing forwards. Abrasive, like: As in just adding an "O' onto his last name.... Or have they stopped making these things in Britain now? IHE, over to you , my man....

Isn't "TOR" in England and Wales a mountain or a peak or big mound or something? In Inverness it is one too-- e.g.Torvean? I thought it had a similar meaning as CRAIG in Scotland ...as in Craig Dunain--in this case the word means a hill fort. Which is exactly what Craig Dunain was a few centuries ago and became the residence of the King of the Picts in the days of St. Columba. In them thar days, of course, the palisade fortifications were made of wood beside ditches. The venerable Saint made a pilgrimage-type journey to Scotland from Ireland to visit said King and stopped at Fort Augustus on the way before continuing up the Great Glen to Inverness. So all Tor has to do with his bulk and presence is to get into the same type of position that Meekings arranged for himself at Charlton Athletic and, crying out..."Valhalla for Ever" , ...'HE SHOOTS... HE SCORRRRRRES!

Huh! Who would have thunk it Dougal?

I have been hearing about the very high temperatures in Inverness form my sister who appears to be finding it unbearable as all older folks can. Here in British Columbia, Canada, we have had a full month without a single drop of rain--an all-time record never surpassed before. Additionally, this last month has been the sunniest month EVER on record. And, with horrific floods devastating the province of Alberta barely a month ago, with overall damage running into a billion dollars, we seem to be having a huge change in weather patterns that does not bode well for the future of this planet. Finally feeling the sun here is a huge change because rain is usually a constant companion and when it appears the body relaxes, the arthritis eases and the barbecues come out on every deck it seems. Enjoy it whilst it lasts and have a good one ...

He's also got loads of experience and this should temper the enthusiasm of the younger element in order to steady the ship: "Argh! Jim Lad, go abart yer business ,now, there's a good lad. Shoulder to the wheel an'all or it's over the side and aff the end of the plank fer you, lad, ....aye!" Unfortunate that his off-the park antics has kinda clouded both our view of him and his own judgment of what is right for a player in his role at the club. The question now is whether or not there might be a role at this club after his playing days have wound down? "I'll splice the mainbrace tae that, lads. Aye!"

Where's her tail? No one knows for sure but thereby hangs a tale.

I don't think that Terry has been relying solely on his scout(s). With his past record and contacts I feel certain that he has a few Managers calling him to suggest players. This is great for these clubs -- if these lads come on loan they get vital and valuable experience and no doubt these lads have also not overlooked the value to their careers of playing against some good SPL teams. Further, ICT's stock is now rising through-out the land and playing for a successful team, or one showing all the signs of developing and improving , must be a lure for these and other managers. Yes? No?

Sorry, guys, about the equally horrible post but I got up early to dig the garden and me eyes have not adjusted yet to the atmospheric changes. ---- But you should have seen it before I spell-checked it.....

IHE "ERIC" was making for Scotland when he entered the Pentland Firth, was turbulated by the turbulence of the currents, blown off course and ended up on the East Coast of Labrador In fact it has been suggested in some scientific quarters that the Vikings landed in the far north of the Eastern seaboard of Canada many centuries previous to that. I have given you a "LIKE, I.H.E. for another amusing post and I was ...er...wondering when you are going to give me my next one? Currently I am sad and downhearted lying in wait...

Economic downturn in the United Kingdom. Oh well, chums, Mark Carney, former Governor of the Canadian banking system is now in London and at the helm of your financial future so it sure looks a bit brighter on your economic horizon. This guy was something of a wizard in Canada and provided stability and a very astute and financially-informed mind. Good luck S.P.

Cor Blimey!. That team has signed Mick Jagger...

Does anyone know how old he is?

Imagine if Alex Ferguson, formerly of Man.United, was in charge- at ICT? -I wonder what reaction he would have had. Personally, I think that he has as much right to be in any respectable night club as anyone else and if he didn't start a fracas then why on earth was he where he landed up?

"All right then, constable Gritpipe Thyne here. Wot on earth is you doing underthat car, mate?" Just looking, and having a beer, constable. Im here FOR-AN good time.

Chums, it's all about money, but I can advise that if that was the case here in this vast country , which is one and a half times the size of France there would be riots. The Government has also declared it as a priority for those in remote areas far from source, who still have not received broadband, to be serviced as quickly as possible. Scotty, have you anything to add to this?

Oh, and I hear from my spy contacts in Britain that your T. V. has not been reporting any news from Canada. Well, keep your hats on because I must tell you that, only a few weeks ago, Alberta , the Province adjoining B.C., had so much rain that the entire capital of Calgary was flooded out ,not inches deep but yards. The city declared a state of emergency and 85,000 people were told to evacuate from the town. I saw one man on T. V. in the evening almost in tears stating..."when I passed the river this morning it was 2 feet high and now it is 13 feet deep". Damage on an unimaginable scale. People have lost their homes and all their possessions, some deeply treasured like photos , etc. Watching the T.V. , the Red river was going so fast that it looked like a racehorse--no kidding. One house came careening down the river and smashed head on into a bridge which was almost flooded up to the deck and this, mostly wooden ,structure was obliterated in seconds. Just exploded and was still driven under the bridge, not on top of it. The Calgary stampede show-wbuilding was flooded feet deep and the show which brings in some $350 million dollars a year for the city was almost cancelled in its entirety. Countless numbers of people were ebngage din removing every single seat because the stands had been flooded so high that nothing was saved. The cost of this disaster apparently runs into billions, not millions, of dollars and the report is that it will take ten years to repair all the damage. Truthfully, folks, you have never seen anything like it and I was sitting watching the reports daily with my jaw dropping open. Awestruck but also scared and found it so heart- rending with deaths and lives completely shredded. When you saw what you thought was a terrible experience happening in front of you it was quickly surpassed by an even more horrible event and so on. I do admit to finding it interesting that the report to me that the BBC never showed it as such. Is this your experience? Just thought you would like to learn what has been happening over hear. Cheers S. P.

Very interesting account of the game. Thank you for that. Where in the table did Wick finish last season? How I would love to be there seeing the youngsters develop. Imagine Christie turning it on in front of his father. ,,,"Like father, like son".eh? How's the weather there in the north of Scotland? We have had a heatwave here in Southern British Columbia for about 6 weeks or more now and , although it is very nice to feel the sun, the drought is getting interesting also. I think the reservoirs are full enough, however, so no water issues so far. The weather these days is very strange. We have been pummelled by constant rain (that's why the Pacific north west is called the rainforest) all year. Then, completely without warning, abruptly we are into beautiful days with no end in sight with temperatures soaring to new highs. In weather like this this place is so beautiful especially if you are into outdoor activities, hiking, ski-ing, boating and so on. But, the Vancouver Whitecaps got beaten last Saturday by the L.A. Galaxy...hmmm.

Yep! He sure is hitting them with his Billy Club. After that I guess it's off to the bonding session and Canadian Club whisky. A seaman from Inverness named Hamish walks into a bar in the seaport of Hamburg Germany. He sits down and gets into a chat with a well-oiled chap named Fritz. Fritz says : "Guten Morgen mein herr , mein nomen (name) ist Vyshinsky- Vyshinsky with a hyphen and I am an immigrant from Poland, Ja? Vas ist yours, buddy? "Whisky, whisky with a syphen, me old palski. Ta buckets ".Quoth Hamish.

Bonding sessions?. .Need a drunken outing twice a week? Are you sure? And are you kidding me? Isn't excessive drinking a poor way to treat your body and keep in top condition? I'm passing no judgements, I mean I was born in a different era, but I am astonished; especially at a club with the good reputation of ICT ? How about holding the old pals club meetings at alternate homes instead off the possibility of in -public farces? Oh well, I guess I am just an aging, puritanical Pimple , completely out of touch ....or just touched maybe..? But guys, if the crowds are down already, what effect will something like this have on future attendances? Just asking? Just bl..dy asking?
