English view of Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Scarlet Pimple replied to EvilHeat's topic in Serious Discussion
What continues to irk me is the frequent reference by such scribes to Caledonian Thistle's heritage which invariably overlooks the facts that both Caley and Thistle were formed in 1875 or thereabouts. Rarely do you see comments such as " Caledonian F C and Thistle F C were both formed in the late 1800's and finally merged in.....to enable Inverness as a city to enter the Scottish Football leagues......... It's not as if both teams are sprogs and only emerged from the twilight at the end of the 20th century. I was watching Caley and Thistle in my early teens and getting the message when two thirds of our lovely posters were not even ready to come back to this earth in re-incarnated form. And that is where the love and the fascination really started and cannot be shaken by any scribe, no matter how well-meaning, and patronising he or she may be....roots, chums, roots. which are going to supprot this team for a long time yet. -
Have watched the highlights 4 times. I found it enthralling. Thanks to Caley D --right on man. You say the football was awful but what about the excitement? Pshaw!--you guys are becoming spoiled. This is great stuff. Makes the Vancouver Whitecaps look like old and slow cissies. Wish I could have been there. Antonio did well didn't he? OOOOOOOH! Laughed like a drain at the remarks on the county site. When they had their Reguero regimen they latched on to Terry--it's all Terry's fault; he even has the ball boys drilled to perfection ! Ross Tokely has one more season in him--went over like a flattened ninepin..eh? And he's a big fella. Owell, good luck to them in the twilight of their careers I say. And I don't think Duncan was playing was he? You guys are so-o-o-o lucky .

Yep IHE, and did you know that the random flight pattern of a butterfly is not at all what it seems and is already planned out in his little brain. So when you see Ali flutterby you will know that he knows exactly which spot to go to next. And I hope it is nOt burnley but he stays with ICT to his eternal glory.

Erm! To promote controversy which sells more papers?

A96 Romans? well, er, they slaughtered the Caledoniansin the two day battle at Mons Graupius near Aberdeen but by that time they had had enough of trying to get a grio on the Highlands. So ICt should treat County with respect and go all out from the get0go. Aye.

County replay ticket sales so far
Scarlet Pimple replied to TheCaleyjags123's topic in Caley Thistle
County should be really up for this game. Don't believe Adams. ICT should go all out right from the start and sweep County right off their feet, get well in front and don't ease up . We need to win this cup tie, the club badly needs the money and this is our season so go for it Caley thistle. The extra cup tie which goes to the winner will bring loads of money into the coffers and also boost his players' morale if County win and boost their bid to climb the league. So Mr Adams ..."come off it, you 'aint fooling us". -
Celtic's Samaraz to big EPL club?
-
Attendance is up over recent games is it not? Which is a positive sign .. If the team continues like this surely the fans will flood back. What more could they possibly want ? Judging from the text commentary it seems asif Hibs were playing the offside trap steadily throughout the game. Bad move--indicates uncertainty and fear. Foran seems to have been in the thick of it... in more ways than one. What a player he is and what an asset to ICT he has turned out to be. Between the two cup games against Ross County the club should benefit by a financial boost of about L100,000 . Is that correct? If so, then that wil pay for all the operations that they have paid for over the past months which led to the $100,000 financial shortfall in the recently-divulged accounts. Now ---back on an even keel?

Well, he's a vigur-ous player though. Corny?

Doncaster also opined thet "we are aware of the fans' wish to redistribute income more equitably" or words to that effect. If all the income was distributed more equally then the need for clubs to nearly bankrupt themselves trying to comply with the rules would change and there would be a resurgence of spirit within all of these clubs, some of which have a reputation as past greats and have been in existence for a very long time. e.g East Fife--can you imagine them coping with the extra financial demands imposed by these rules when their average gate is 500 or so? Whether that will ever happen is definitley questionable I think. But if he is aware of this yearning why is there no mention of it in this draft of future plans--apparently? Without this the statement is relatively meaningless.
-
Vigurs--interesting name. Is it Norwegian or what? Mantis, if County try to hang on to their Players and ICT make a bid for one of them, do you think it might end up as the Battle of Brittain?

Scotty "...there would be other posters ahead of you in the queue to have that option applied." Ha! Ha! Ha! So true. Scarlet is a real varlet forsooth. Sometimes he's also a fool because he seems to have a tendency to be taken in by people he likes and admires. Too trusting, like. About the only saving grace he really has is that with him what you see is what you get. Tell you what though ...post on here those that can't stand the nasty little man and I will make sure he debates them right here out in the open. And maybe you could tell those nice posters who keep putting "likes" against his posts to stop it on the grounds that it might go to his head and he may very well become plain unbearable for goodness sake; just like I find him! Cheers Daddy Pimpernell.

Comparing him to Darren Dodds and he can pass the ball out of defence? Wow,,,must be some player.....

I also have had disappearing posts prior to completion and posting. You are just about to press "submit" and the whole thing disappears and the cat in the next house can hear the screams of frustration. Mostly because I never can understand why? I thought it was a problem with my computer since I have had problems retaining text anywhere I posted e,g. live mail etc. I never could understand why I would have a problem with Live Mail all the time and also on this site. Maybe it's something to do with I.Explorer 8 and 9 as well.

Run circles round the County defence? You probably mean the "getting older" county defence . Run 'em ragged I say . Roberts and Billy interchange and Mr Tokely and Russell Duncan are bound to tire and make mistakes. Remember when Ross headed onto his own bar under pressure and Russell Duncan lost the ball to allow ICTto get their goal. Leave Draper until the County are tiring and then the risk to hi8m willbbe less. ''Just a thought or two. Can't wait though....

Preview sorted and praise graciously accepted. I bow deeply to you both and with reverence. On a run of form like this even a Pimple can excel himself. Currently daddy and Mommy Pimperbnell are wiping me fevered brow.

No isn't that a fact!
-
Tickle Terry's tonsils....what else.
-
Everthing is possible. And why not? Must avoid injuries and keep roaring on and watch the other team's fall and fail. Imagine-- : the League, The Scottish Cup AND the League cup? What kind of an experience would that ? All the Premier League English teams would be begging us to take their players on loan and Terry would be the top Manager of the year in all of Britain.. Heady Stuff. .

No, 'cos when he went to the bank He found his overdraft balance was in the tank And the Bank Manager told him "Just go out and sign so and so To which Adams replied "Jeez, that's a really low blow." .............................To be continued by A.N. Other .........................
