  1. AND JUST THE DAB.
  2. Goldenballs Beckham Thank goodness an official at the club cares enough to smash SOMETHING on occasion. That doesn't make him evil fer goodness sake...just a character and a passionate one. Of course if we change managers for robots then we will have brilliant decisions, always right, but no smashed doors or Perspex and no customers because all the passion and humanity will have been removed from the game. And he was wearing gloves and came to no harm so....face it--who cares. He will pay for the damage and we can move on. .Whew!! That was SOOOOOOOOO scary.
  3. Mantis, imho you are positively.. animated. Omg TTFN Sleep tight and dinna let the bugs bite.
  4. Do you actually think he is depressed about it? Stuff and nonsense on the part of the beaks. I If they spent more of their time in attempting to IMPROVE Scottish Football and less time putting down the passionate participants in the game we would all be better off IMHO. For example, the contentious issue of the placing of cameras on the goal line, which is simply a no-brainer to anyone with common sense, is now delayed for another year or so whilst they offer excuses only for non - action. Neanderthals with nothing better to do than dump on Terry. who can't fight back without incurring another fine presumably. OMG
  5. The Vancouver whitecaps are off to a very good start as well Scotty. They have won their last two home games and Kenny Miller scored a fine goal to win the last game against Columbus Crewe from Ohio. What has struck me this term is the fact that the pace of the MLS has increased well over that of last term and finally the emphasis seems to be on going forward and not passing back or sideways at the back. That game was quite frenetic and exciting so the MLS this season looks like it will continue to make significant progress all round. The Crewe are a good, very hard-working team and they never gave up which bodes well for their future too. Some very exciting players are being brought in from overseas too. In particular we now have some Japanese guys who art fit and skilled so who knows what lies ahead? Another 21,000 crowd at home too who were very noisy all adds up to one thing-- atmosphere, success and future progress. Aye.
  6. I suppose you should be glad that he did not miss the letter "e" out of your name as well, Alex. Because you are far from being a clod-hopper and are a very smart guy actually. And you wuz already on here when Lauranece was only a twinkle in his daddy's eye. Laurence may well be from Arrabbbia but is hardly OLIVIER .
  7. It was very uplifting--a step in the right direction, no less. Exciting even. And a damn good effort. Hopefully a kick in the pants to some stay-at home fans. Some original thinking and skill there and that is a bonus.
  8. OOPS! Do I detect a smattering of bitterness and sniping entering the door. What seems to have started out as a rather interesting dissertation about North Sea Oil has now turned into something completely different. Typical deterioration into political thrashing around.. Same as here(in British Columbia, Canada)where the local B.C. Government has been spending wads of tax revenue on T.V. ads designed to show them up in a good light since they still have a dream of being elected in two months time. That dream, as everybody knows, will soon end in a shambolic nightmare for them. And of course we also have the political ads and those from the Enbridge Pipeline boys inundating us with placatory assurances that any oil spill in the pristine waters of the North Pacific off the Northern Coast of B.C. will immediately be contained, cleaned up and will pose no threat to anybody or any wildlife. The last oil spill in the North West Pacific Coast of B.C. was that of the Torrey Canyon over twenty years ago and they are STILL cleaning up the mess settled on the shores of Northern B.C. What Enbridge is all about is the Alberta oil sands, distribution by pipeline across Alberta and Northern B.C. by buried pipeline and huge container ships berthing at an obscure newly-built terminal at Prince Rupert. Special ship pilots have been assigned to ensure that these huge vessels do not go aground but what is missing from this scenario are assurances that no oil will ever be spilled. And we all remember the terrible sea-floor blowout about a year or so ago off the South Coast of the USA that decimated the Southern Coastline and poses undefined threats on a continuous basis for many, many years to come. It all reminds me of the saying that the "The bad men do lives after them whilst the good is oft forgotten" or words to that effect. Oil is short lived , as has been pointed out in the initial part of this thread, and the revenue will run out quicker than anybody may think so what are short-term Governments doing to provide for future expenses? Generally speaking, nothing! So, friends, one Government will be much like another. For overseas posters could someone please post a Glossary of Abbreviations ASAP because PPI to me means Plan Position Indicator from the days when I was in the RAF as a radar operator.-i.e a computer display. I know it is the modern way of communicating but not all of us are young, constantly-texting hotshots--just guys trying to keep up. Smile.
  9. Getting in a bl-w-up doll for Terry seems a very novel idea . Should brighten up the away bus anyways.
  10. What we all have to remember I think is that "It's never over until the fat lady sings". If we ever forget that all you have to do is look at County's record. ---coming from absolutely nowhere and look where they are today. Our team will still need a supreme effort to get where we want to go for next season and beyond. If we wallow in the defeatest attitude that says ""The other teams have now sussed us out, etc, ..blah, blah.." Well, it's now up to Terry and the boys to change the tactics to concentrate on scoring .Our defence is great but we need to find that something extra to score goals or we can't get that elusive 3 points. I like Davie's very positive post and hopefully the Inverness fans will come out in droves from now on.
  11. Well, who would've thunk it? Wee Dingwall producing a team that is now in the most exalted league position of their existence.
  12. Yngwie!! It must be peanut spread on a sheet of paper then 'cos surely this is taking the computations a bridge (between the past and the future) too far.... Reimegen -style, like. Mind you that w as step into the future and on to victory so many a word spoken in jest.....
  13. Now the avalanche will start and everybody will sign up. Wheeee! Brings out the boy in me because today is my 75th birthday. Goodness, I'm nearly as old as older Jock-and he's away out in the boonies too.
  14. Definitely a Welsh Rarebit of business.
  15. What stuns me is how well they have done as a complete Newbie in the SPL? Must be doing something right. Or just got lucky..The real test will be how they do next season probably. And whether they have the staying power to remain int he SPL and continue to do well. The very thought that above average players would even consider palying for a team in the Highlands in a town where the population is about $5,000 (?) is incredible. They must be getting a great wage, that's all I can think? Anyway it is good for the area so good luck to them I suppose.
  16. When Dods was in the defence there appeared to be less goals scored against us. Is that correct? As I recall he stood out like a sore thumb because he was noted for marshalling the defence around him. Like the rock-y fulcrum around which the team turned. Is Warren like that? Or is he just very good at his own job?
  17. Sorry bu t Barry has lost his pace so whether or not he would, or could, have been good for ICT is a moot point.
  18. Och, why not just leave the man alone. If he did leave who would be your first pick as Manager to try to destroy with sarcasm and rudeness and pointless negative remarks? Eh? Nobody is perfect but he certainly has made big difference heat tulloch over his tenure.
  19. Wonderful idea --provided our new aquiree has a bit of polish about his demeanour and play. And provided he is willing to wiork hard in training such that Terry the Terrible relents a wee bit and opine.." Eh bah gum, lad, I can see that you have learned to put a bit of spit and polish into your work ethic." Which reminds me of the one my father was wont to repeat quite often, somethingh like,.....: A Polish seaman walks into a bar in Hamburg, North Germany (Rainbow , you are a ray of sunshine so this one should be right up your Herbertstrasse street), sees a wizened Scotsman sitting at the bar and saunters over to whisper in his ear .. "Heh, man, can you buy me a wee drink, I.m just off the boat and I've had a long and dangerous sea voyage? Just a wee Carlsberg, man, My name is Vyshinski-Vyshinski with a hyphen, what's yours? With great aplomb the the Scottish Gent replies " Whisky, whisky with a siphon."
  20. Well, Laurence you are not quite accurate about the Scottish AND ENGLISH POUNDS. SCOTTISH BANKS HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE THE 1700's AND DEFINITELY ISSUED THEIR OWN NOTES FOR USE IN SCOTLAND AND THEY WERE POUNDS. HOWEVER, THE BANK OF ENGLAND SOMEHOW GOT THE NOTION THAT THEY WERE SUPERIOR TO THE SCOTTISH BANKERS (lol) AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY IN ENGLAND THEN SAID: " O.K. All banks must buy our bank notes for issue in England but you lot up in Scotland have been isssuing our own notes for donkeys' years so what we will do is allow you to keep on issuing them without purchasing B of E pound notes as backing. They then set limits to this and this limit for each Scottish Bank was, and continues to be, referred to as the Fiduciary Issue. Oops , sorry about the capitals fellas. Not shouiting; just another senior moment. Enter Manfer with a witty comment....... This saved the banks a ton of money In Scotland since they kept their money in their pockets until their fiduciary issues were used up and THEN they had to buy notes from the B of E or issue their own notes but pay the bank to buy B of E notes as backing (insurance effectively). Even today when I go to the banks in Canada occasionally I get the young teller who looks at the cheque drawn in pounds and says --is that English pounds Mr. Pimple. As for the legal tender issue I simply do not have a clue aboutt he legalities these days. But, generally speaking all Banks in England should normally take ScottishiBank notes as legal tender but the problem for them is that they have to send it to the Scottish Banks " For Collection" (which could take weeks ) rather then negotiating it through the banking system directly. And that is why they are not keen to take them because they have to wait so long to get their money back from Scotland . frae Canada.
  21. And he doesn't have a Doric accent but his speech is slurred by a wee Dioch and Doris accent...
  22. Is the name name Owain the welsh equivalent of Ewan-- i.e Yown . After all are these two names both Celtic ?
  23. Manfer--thanks for including the highlights!. For some eason I can rarely seem to find them on U Tube now, witghin a reasonable space of time after the end of the match. Based on these highlights alone this match was winnable. Why is going to the byeline now either impossible or not seen as an option for this ICT team? Up against a capable defence like that of Celtic is it such a bad option?
  24. And the band played "Believe it if you like". Since when has injured pl;ayers etc stopped Celtic fielding a team of good players? My prediction is that they will go for it right off the bat and try to wrap it up before half time.
