I would love it if Hearts got shagged tomorrow but I can't see it. The Pars haven't won at Tynie in something like the past 22 games.

Sad to see another crash at Ballenuig (spelling) which appears to be notorious for accidents. It's taken many years and numerous deaths on the A77 for MPs to just lower the speed limit!

Bayne needs to start as we are almost certainly going to play our long ball/counter attack style of play. Personally I hate it but you can't argue with results. I would expect us to sit in and let Mirren come at us. When we repel the attacks the ball will be moved quickly up front to Dargo (to chase) or Bayne (to hold up). St. Mirrens central defence has a combined age of about 300 so Dargos pace will be an asset. We will need to get the ball forward quickly and if possible in behind the back 3 of Saints. Broadfoot is another whom we should look to exploit. He is normally solid but has been responsible for some mistakes that have cost Saints this season. We need Wilson to get right on him as much as possible and Bayne can play a role here. If he can hold the ball coming out of defence and lay it off to Wilson, he could run at Broadfoot and hopefully get past him and feed in Dargo to run in behind the defence. Quite specific but I think quick breaks and pace will be key to this one. Stick with the tried and tested 4 - 4 - 2 for this one... Brown Tokley Dods Munro Hastings Wilson Duncan Rankin McBain Dargo Bayne With Duncan possibly coming in Rankin will be free to move forward in a style similar to what occurred at County where Cowie allowed Rankin the freedom of the pitch by doing the dirty defending work. It can be the same here.

Scary thing is I don't think a lot of the team are playing to your potential but they are certainly good enough. In fact I think we have some of the best players in the SPL in some areas of the team. I can't wait to see us click into top gear and utterly thrash someone - like Falkirk last season 4 - 1 - maybe St. Mirren this weekend? :001:
-
Neither can I. Almost 100% certain he never played there. Whenever we played 5-3-2 (or 3-5-2 if you want to look at it that way) Tokley was the right full back/wing back. I am trying to mind who deputised for him but certainly not Duncan.

What a fantastic story to read about after getting back from work. Romanov has been finally exposed as the complete psycho he most truely is. He clearly has no idea how to run a club and how to keep players happy. Well done to Steven Pressley for speaking up about this with Gordon and Hartley flanking him. Previously Webster was dropped after speaking out but I think that if all three of these guys were to be dropped then this will certainly lead to protests from the Jambo fans. This may well just be the start of a very interesting few days or weeks at Tynecastle...

I see what you are getting at but then that would mean most MotM awards are determined by who has scored a goal and not by actual performance on the pitch. If you went by goals which turned the game of course Rankin would be it but if you were looking at a very good - truely outstanding performance then it would be Latapy. Did Graham Bayne get MotM because he scored v rangers last week? I believe most of the credit ended up going to the defence and Grant Munro. While I agree goals turn/win games I feel it is wrong to base MotM awards on just that otherwise performance is completely overlooked.
-
Because it was a **** good goal. Latapy is still some player even at 38.

Not had one of these for a while... I'm heading down on the Megabus from Aberdeen - awooga! Getting the train from Central to Paisley around 2:15pm. Anyone else going to be in the area around that time?

Perhaps you might like to take some of your own advice and refrain from such 'infantile abuse' :003: At the end of the day it's my opinion and if you don't like it you don't have to read it :003: For 70 minutes John Rankin was annonymous and hugely underperforming. However he made both myself and a number of others eat humble pie in the end. That doesn't detract from the fact that his only contribution before those free kicks was losing the ball that resulted in Falkirk scoring their second. He was doing nothing. The reason the lad is under so much scrutiny is because he has underperformed in many games previously this season. Russell Duncan has been another under the 'supporters microscope' in the past. However, as you will see from my other posts on this subject in other threads, I was more than happy to see him score those two goals. But I still feel he has a lot to prove and now is the time to do it. He will be boosted by finally scoring a goal or two and the importance of the goals will more than likely catalyse his performances from here on in. Here's hoping. And we know he can do more than this as well.

The oddest thing is while I am happy with where the team find themselves I still don't think we have hit top gear. In fact I don't think we have really blown a team away aside from perhaps Motherwell? With that in mind it means 2 things. i) Our position is even better because of that and ii) It leaves you wondering just what we could do to a team that plays us when everything clicks into place :001:
-
That's good then. Pete likes his lines now doesn't he?
-
Well if Andy Walker said it then it must be true! :006: :015: The man is a first glass gimp. Incidentally, I don't think we are punching above our weight or are under rated. We are doing just fine. I like us just getting on with the job in hand and winning games. Who cares about coverage in the press? So long as the team are winning that's the main thing.

It's taken over my soul! :007:

I think the best thing about our team is the spread of age amongst it. We don't have a very important group of 30 plusses needing to be replaced or too many youngsters. We've got a good mix and when some people get too old or are surplus they are easily moved on and one or two folk come in to replace them. This means there is seldom any great upheavel of the squad like we have seen at say Livi over the seasons. The new guys then have to work their way into the team slowly but surely over time. There is hardly ever any pressure on them to go in straight away and get results though this season we might have seen an exception in Rankin. Look at say Dods, getting on a bit now and maybe moving on who knows, but if he was to go we have Munro and Caff who can aid any new player into the side or indeed in the case of Caff, fill in in place of Dods. Come to think of it, what is the largest number of players we have signed in a close season for the following campaign?

I think he is playing in Aberdeen again. he has already had 2 or 3 gigs called off. After one his tour bus was nearly turned over by angry fans. He recently abandoned his gig @ The Music Hall because a fire alarm went off IIRC.

Yup there are a few of us through here. Where do other Aberdeen Caley Jags stay? I live just off King Street and go to all the Home games with my partner in crime Caleygirl on a Saturday morning on the train. The last few times we have seen about 4 other ICT fans travel from Aberdeen as well and we know of a couple of others as well so there are a fair few exiled Caley Jags on the go. As for the game on the 6th I still don't know if I can get to it. Depends on what work I am doing. If I don't get to it a bunch of us will seek out a pub - most likely Archies - to watch the game. Other options could be Bobbin, Triple Kirks and Illicit Still. They are some of the more friendly pubs in Aberdeen I have been to in the last 5 years and ones also most likely to take in Away fans as well. had thought about the Pitt but not sure that would go down well... :015: I should know by this time next week if I can go but if I can't get through it'll be Archies for me.

I think he had also been asked "Does Brewster have just one more game to save his job?" His reply? "I am not going to confirm or deny that/no comment etc." :010:
-
He has 90 minutes to save his job apparently. ET didn't exactly come across as very sympathetic on North Tonight last night.
-
My posts are often noted for their pessimism but I give plenty of credit as well. Have a hunt around, I was able to find a few posts on Saturday evening that were plenty positive :003: Just because I don't laud everything ICT doesn't make me a boo boy. IMHO we were poor right up until about 70 minutes on Saturday. I will not overlook that and allow other things to gloss that over but that's just me. While at the game though I wil get behind the team. Shame so many other people felt the need to boo the team at half time when only one down and there was still another 45 to play given that we had just beaten Rangers the previous week :006: Now that would be a real boo boy.
-
That is infantile how exactly? The first one was brilliant. Well placed and powerful yet it had all the precision of one of those floated curling shots. The 2nd one was a fluke but I never realised how bad Higgins was with his handling. Saw it on North Tonight - MotM for me! :001:
-
I would like some variation. Can't we make fun of County or Elgin? Or is that too easy? :004:
-
Where I sit we have drummers version 2.0 in front of us so it is always noisey where we are :001: It's not until you head out of the stand that you realise how loud the whole place is but of course I wasn't going to leave my seat in the last 20 minutes to find that out! :015:

That was from last Friday. Don't think it was brought up actually. I wouldn't want him to move as I think he is a good back up player but he clearly won't be happy with that and will want first team football. Wonder if a loan move might be on the cards? I think he might actually come in for Blackie on Saturday to defend a bit more seeing as that is our style away from home.
