ok, we are in danger of going off on several personal tangents here .... lets just get back on topic folks. If anyone wants to keep getting personal, take it to the PM system.

That's a low blow. But to answer your question, 2 x 7500 mile round trips to watch 2 games 'recently', both of which were home victories and played with some style. As I mentioned above, I saw two games recently and at the end of the first one, I switched my stance from very anti-Brew to ambivalent. I was anti-Brew because of his results at DUFC nothing else, and my reason for mellowing that day was because I saw a Brew who was coaxing, cajoling and praising some of the younger or more inexperienced players to do well. At that point i Thought "maybe, just maybe, he has it". At the end of the second one, amidst all the personal rumours flying around, I reinforced that belief because I still saw that attitude and heard a number of "alternative" viewpoints to those expressed by some. Like CaleyD and others, I DO actually want him to do well because bottom line that means ICT are doing well and that is far more important than whose name is on the parking spot. We as a site are trying to get behind the club, certainly off the field, and if the manager can get CONSISTENT performances out of the players every week (win or lose, but always 100% effort) then I will get behind him too. If he can do that, then he will do for me, but if he can't and we continue to huff and puff each week and we have to wonder which ICT will turn up, then maybe he is not TM4TJ so to speak. We had a good result today, it is certainly deserving of praise, but I would say that the next seven days will tell us even more. We have an excellent chance to try and build some consistency with a couple of emininently winnable games coming up. I would say we have to beat Falkirk at home in midweek and if we can take something from Hearts with a spirited performance (even if all we take is the performance, and not the points) then maybe the Rangers result will be consigned to the bad memory bank and we can move forward.

There is no problem in congratulating Craig Brewster and the players for an excellent result which seems to have been deserved based on performance rather than the elusive "rub of the green" that was being trotted out last week. WELL DONE TO ALL CONCERNED !!! However, by the same token, one good result does not wipe away the bad taste of some of our indifferent and lets be honest, downright terrible, performances this season (not just last week's debacle). Some people seem to think that a single good result means everything is OK. It is not. We need to be up for EVERY game. If the team start performing like they did today and do it CONSISTENTLY then maybe a corner has been turned, but not yet.
-
A bit of pot/kettle there Ralph !!!! You didnt like the reaction of those fans calling for Brewster's head after last week's debacle yet feel quite happy rubbing their noses in it after a result that many of the same people have acknowledged as far better. Bottom line, last week was a farce, this week was good .... most of us just wish there was some consistency somewhere in-between those two extremes. Until that happens, CB will struggle to win many of us over (or back in the case of some who backed him until last week).

I will give credit where it is due, listening to Robbo's effervescent commentary on the radio made it sound like a good performance today and I would single out Vigurs and Esson from a list of positives. However, as one person mentioned in the chatroom, "one swallow does not make a summer" and it will take much more than that to make me think we have turned the corner .... some consistency ion the next couple of games would be a start.
-
Credit where credit is due, the team performed far better than last week. To perform worse however would have been difficult. Special mentions to Esson for saving the penalty and Vigurs for a solid game. The rest were pretty decent too !!!

LOL - no thanks, its far easier to be one of the armchair variety

It is, and they can, all we are asking is for them to do it with a bit of civility towards each other and in a manner that is not overly crude.

You are bang on. When we played Celtic we lost. No-one called for anyone's head, no-one asked which players should be out the door in January, and why was that? It was because the team gave 100%, battled through the game and lost to the (arguably) better side on the day. On another day we might have won, or snuck a draw, but it didnt happen. Last week we basically laid down for Rangers and allowed them to do whatever they wanted. There was none of the heart, spirit or passion from the Celtic game and no apologies, just excuses. If we played every game like the Celtic game, we would be a lot higher up the table and win or lose we would be able to write screeds of positivity about our team ........

I would have had a lot more respect if someone had just come out and said something like this ..... "We were terrible, we got it wrong, and all of us - players and management alike - have to take some of the blame. Moving forward, we want to put this game behind us, learn from our mistakes and try to make sure it never happens again. The only saving grace - if there is one - is that this performance was against one of the OF and realistically, although we have snatched results from them before, we never "expect" points from these fixtures".
-
never mind the legalities ... can you come up with something better LOL

I remember when I was first introduced to Robbo and Donald Park at the stadium as "the Internet Guy" .... Robbo ripped the **** right out of him about being the computer geek in their relationship and then went on to mention how absolutely everything he does in training or in games is analysed on computer and looked at from many different angles to point out strengths, weaknesses etc. He is definitely a valuable coach, the players also seem to like him, but the big question is whether he actually wants to be a manager or not or whether he is happier in the lower profile role as a #2 or backroom guy. I believe we have offered him the top job twice and he has turned it down both times ...... or was that just spin?

I don't think we made it clear when setting up this area, but if you put an item up for sale/swap on this forum, and subsequently sell it, can the original poster please do one of two things. either 1 - put a clear message that the item has been sold as a new post in the thread, and moderators will close the thread or 2 - use the "report" button to report that the item has been sold and a moderator will close the thread cheers :thumb04:
-
Seems the reporter is saying one thing, but the actual quotes from Brewster say something else ..... journalistic license at its most blatant ..... or maybe reporter making conclusions about off the record comments perhaps? Esson Tokely Duff Munro McBain Cowie Black Duncan Vigurs Imrie Rooney Subs: Fraser, Djebi-Zadi, Hastings, Wilson, Zander, Wood, Barrowman

After last week's performance, no-one's position is guaranteed and some players perhaps need the proverbial kick in the chuckies to make them waken up. MF may be one of them.

Think Don could probably do better: http://caleythistleonline.com/features/cto-shop ....and if the design doesnt exist, you can either make your own or request one !!!

cant tell you yet, remember that polling doesnt close until 7 days after the match, which would have been yesterday, and you need to give Don a few days to calculate the scores.

Since Pele left, we have gone down the route of choosing inexperienced managers looking to get their first taste of management because we cannot afford to pay the big bucks for a "name". Thats fine, I accept that route, and the reasoning, and to be honest, was quite happy with all of them, including Brewster the first time around. In business life, I have been a "rookie" manager who came through the ranks, I have also attained the title of "experienced" manager after doing the job for several years. Its not easy to be an inexperienced manager, the learning curve is steep and you will make mistakes. The key factor for me is that you must learn from those mistakes and try not to repeat them if you want to progress. At the same time, while making and learning from your mistakes, you cannot allow yourself to become the big "I am" just because you are the manager. You are no longer "one of the lads" as you have different responsibilities, but that should not stop you from treating them with respect. One of the big pitfalls of an inexperienced manager is to go too far the other way and become a complete **** because you think you know more than everyone else, or because things have to be done "your way", or because you somehow feel the need to prove your authority. I have been there, worn the T-Shirt and paid the price. I learned from my mistakes, and became a better manager because of it. I dont believe Brew is learning from his. At the end of the day, the manager, as Kirishima stated, has several functions and each of those is designed to get the best out of your staff and produce acceptable results to your bosses. I cannot imagine that CB's bosses can honestly say they are happy with his results and therefore a "performance review" is in order.

Nowhere near that figure ... a million is what they said they would sue for because its what it cost them to build their extra stand or something like that. I believe it is indeed 250K in season 1 and 125K in season 2 .... at least it was that amount in 2006. It may have increased a little with the new Setanta deal but I would be surprised if it is anything over 300/150K for seasons 1 & 2 at maximum.
