  1. Remember Pele put him on the transfer list not long after he arrived which had an effect on his on field performances. He is now married with children so has a lot more responsibility. Let's see what happens to to his motivation? :024:
  2. Was he not on here last week? "stratherrick"? Just a thought.
  3. What cash would that be? Evidence please. The evidence is in the ticket prices and the crowd sizes in the first division my season book cost in the region of ?90 and as far as I remember the majority of matches under 12s went in free? I now pay ?245 for a book each for myself and my son. So they have more than doubled their income from me. In the same period attendances have risen two fold so from gate receipts alone the club income has risen fourfold this is before sponsorship is taken into consideration. I fail to understand how you can not comprehend that the club are making more money now :024: and I don't know about you but I do not see any major improvements in the team which I used to pay ?90 per season to watch. We have gone from a family orientated club to a profit chasing business, that's life but I don't have to like it. I just hope that the people running the club are looking at the long term and not just in it to make a quick buck then feck off when the penny pinching gets us relegated. I don't deny the club have higher profits than in previous years but your inferrance was they were profitting personally "people in power can stuff as much quick cash into their hippers as they can", which is not true. The running costs have increased, we are now seeing the team have a pre-season training camp overseas, policing and stewarding costs have increased, the stadium development has to be paid for, players are pushing to squeeze as much out of the club that they can. So I don't believe the "People in Power" are lining their own pockets, but if they were I'd want proof before throwing accusations about. I'd much rather have a club in profit playing poorly (and surviving) than stretching their finances (to play attractive football) and folding.
  4. What cash would that be? Evidence please. I'm an ICT fan, no thanks.
  5. Yes this is true, but when is it time to step in John? 1 post + Stratherrick + Jaggie hmmmm :024:
  6. Quote from the SPL handbook (page 103) Club ceasing to play and be a member of the league H5 If any club in the League ceases to operate or to be a member of the League for any reason, its playing record in the League may be expunged and the number of relegation places from the League shall reduce accordingly. So Relegation is not a reality, in fact assuming Gretna continue to the end of the season, winning all games and we only need to pick up four points from nine games to survive. Although I'd expect them to be relegated on the stadium issue anyway.
  7. If only :015:
  8. Both Caley and Thistle were much bigger clubs than Gretna ever managed to be. End off.
  9. With Jan Fennegoor of Kessockink out of the way now maybe we'll get another result aginst the tims :021:
  10. I agree with Hamish in that I'd rather the money go elsewhere, Pharma R&D, healthcare, education or crime prevention. I certainly wouldn't like my DNA profile on a database here being checked by a police force on the other side of the planet when I've never even been there. I wonder how many families will be reunited with criminal relatives in the years to come through similarities in their profiles. (I'm probably well off the mark there but it's a thought)
  11. The club are doing the prudent thing, imagine the snowball effect if his demands were met.
  12. Thought this ws a thread about oxymorons.
  13. I think they're in a better state than they were when he joined them. :024:
  14. Of course we've got the best travelling support in the league. :017: Brooks leaves hospital Boyle pledges support need for contingency
  15. I disagree that there's not much interest. If the SPL was to market a worldwide internet broadcasting website there would be much more income generated for the member clubs than there is now. On the downside of course there would be much more interest in the OF particularly Celtic but I'm sure they wouldn't mind splitting the money 12 ways. :tic01:
  16. Are you saying that the teams in the SPL don't have a go at the OF? We should all aspire to be pushing the OF rather than try to handicap them. If the SPL had got their act together we would have a better TV deal both here, overseas and online with each member club getting an equal split. That would help even the playing field.
  17. http://www.ambaile.org.uk/en/item/item_pho...sp?item_id=5662 even made it into the New York Times http://query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/...amp;oref=slogin I'll get my coat. lol I was close though....almost.
  18. You really support the Terrors don't you? :016:
  19. Am I the only one that sees a flaw in that suggestion? :017: It would be good though.
  20. An interesting scenario indeed,...............if it didn't affect so many peoples lives......and their families. How would you have felt if the Marrs had managed to put Dundee further into the red and you were sliding down the toilet? On the plus side of course Dundee Utd would benefit and you'd probably be able to see some European Football next season, I expect you'd like that. 21. The British Cabinet have only ever convened outwith Westminster on one occasion and hat was at Inverness Town House during WWII. Now I know that's true
  22. The man that signs the players pay cheques is in hospital and I would speculate that he is unable to sign. Unless there is some kind of contingency plan at Gretna which I doubt as Irons has gone, I'd expect the players to walk too and see the above rule being implemented. Tangerine Dream
  23. :drinking09: :hiding03:
  24. Still one game outstanding from their second round against St Mirren so only one round could stand under that argument. Cant see the SPL going down that road though. Also I've got a sneaky feeling that the rent at Fir Park wouldn't be a problem. :023:
