  1. This interesting Charles - never realised the men only vote re the Jags. As we are talking about fairly recent history Im surprised the vote was legal. Never realised that sexism was rampant at Kingsmills - was always welcomed and treated well when visiting the boardroom with Caley. The first meeting at the Muirtown was different to the rest, much more business like and ordered.Members for and against the merger spoke their case and were listened to. The Rose St meetings were much different. Both sides and gained more support and members and yes there were folk there that I had never seen at the games before or probably since. However as Ive already stated Im now convinced the right thing happened. Smee I am convinced that Caley alone would not have received the same success as the merged team. Caley had spent a lot of time and energy looking for a suitable site to move to. One site identified was the ground below Charleston Academy and there was a public meeting re this as well and support was limited. The ground beside the Merkinch School and right along to Glendoe Terrace was looked at and Clach were very much against this move. Another option was the Canal Pitches and Charles might remember better than me that this option actually reached the Council as I remember attending a council meeting at the Town House. There was little spport outside the club for Caley to go it alone.
  2. Fair enough I appreciate your input and that is why I started the thread as I wanted opinions from football people like yourself who were about at the time of the merger I take it your brother and his mate just stopped attending football altogether? dougal Yeh they just do Scotland games now.
  3. Dougal you are wrong. I still see a lot of fans now that I knew then around the TCS. charles is right in that a lot have now died and at first I think a lot did stay away but eventually a lot drifted back. I voted for option one in the poll as I dont think there are many of the diehard refuseniks left. My brother and his mate are part of this group and there are a few guys that post on pie and bovril but I think a lot just moved on. I dont really think a lot of folk care about old history anymore. My kids certainly dont. Personally I just like the fact that the Caley name is still alive and well and remember the HL days as being fun but I was very young them. I dont think that Caley would have achieved as much on their own personally as ICT have.
  4. 1 no 2 no 3 yes 4 no 5 I attended all the meetings at the time - it all seems a bit sureal now 6 started off anti but voted yes in the end.

Totally disagree with Dougal (but thats not exactly a first!). Like it or not the fact is and cannot be changed that our club was formed with a merger of two old and proud clubs.I agree with Caley D that it is a shame that this is not celebrated.
  6. agree with the above but would like to see a bit more of Gillet before the end of the season.
  7. Think Dougie has lost his sense of humour.
  8. Sort of agree with Rene here. It just seems to be all blame on the players coming from Terry just now but I think that he needs to look at himself as well. Dont think continually slagging of the players in public will work in the long run anyway is morale is low at the moment how is running anyone down going to help. Think that digging in, working hard and playing a better tactical game is how we are going to improve from the current abysmal form. That said at the start of the season I would have settled for any place above 12th.
  9. Think that Foran has picked up in recent games. One of the few to get pass marks from me last 2 games. Depressing stuff indeed
  10. Bugging me all night who the announcer sounded like - thats exactly it the voice of the mysterons! :werenotworthy:
  11. I dont like predicting us to lose!
  12. Just thankful for small mercies. My heart sank when we walked in and the same female steward who was so rude last time was there. However I dont think she spoke to any of us all afternoon. Interesting that they had arranged for us to sit at the opposite end from last time. Is the inconsistency down to different match commanders? or was it because it was greenday and the place was bouncing at times?
  13. I think everyone from hibs up potentially fancies they can finish top 6. We need to take one game at a time especially as we are playing teams round about us this week.
  14. Scotty great pics! Was being cheeky to IHE he certainly wouldnt need the cushion to sit on!
  15. What would you need one of these for? :hahaha:
  16. Ive got a long sleaved top its not the up to date top but last seasons one. Much prefer long sleaves personally esp in the winter.
  17. Billy Urquhart, Andy Penman, Wilson Robertson, Alan Presslie, Kevin MacDonald so many to choose from. I would think that Kevin was the player who left to play at the highest level playing in the Liverpool side that won the fa cup and league titles.
  18. I would guess 600 - 700. No way was there 1,000 in the away end.
  19. Really disappointed to see that the bully boys seem to have won our board over. Personally I support ICT and want what is best for our team and if that helps Scottish football then fine but I fail to see that putting the so called good of scottish football before whats best for ICT is in our interests. I cant see how the 10 - 12 set up is good for anyone myself however.
  20. that must explain the guy getting lifted then. 2 sides to the story.
  21. Maybe he just drinks champers on a saturday night then! lol
  22. Hopefully me plus 2 and if the stewarding is crap like last time then this will be my last visit to er. Is the rugby not on Sunday?
  23. Seemed to be overkill at the away end yesterday. About 8-10 police as well as several stewards. Dunno if it was because of the blue and white away day thing. One guy got lifted on his way in the turnstiles think it was because he had been drinking but certainly not blazing drunk. Polis man appeared to be in a crap mood even snapped at his colleague when he shouted over a question to him about where someone else could pay to get in.Everyone gong in seemed very good natured and having a good day - St Johnstone seem a bit like ourselves just ordinary folk having a good away day. Pity that the sense of humour and common sense seems to have gone from football.
