  1. Have you tried watching dutch football?? Next to the SPL the Eredivisie is one of the poorest leagues in Europe... ffs Steve McLaren is on the verge of winning the title there with FC Twente :025: Our football's got no worse, if Mowbray hadn't made a c*ck up of the money Celtic gave him then we don't even have this conversation. Robbie Keane is playing for celtic, which is just as, if not more impressive than Gascoigne or Laudrup.... and Larsson wasn't bought at his peak he was picked up from some 2nd rate swedish team for peanuts. I think the best way to gauge our league is by looking at the players that have been bought by the EPL and compete on a regular basis... Gordon (Sunderland) Hutton (Sunderland) McFadden (Birmingham) Ferguson (Birmingham) O'Connor (Birmingham) Berra (Wolves) Fletcher (Burnley) not to mention the likes of Dorrans and Adams in the Championship ...stick them back into the SPL and we make it a much more competitve league. We are still producing the same talent but we don't have the money to compete with the likes of Championship clubs so they are leaving Scotland early. There definitely has to be changes to the division though, at the moment with such a small division and only 1 promotion spot from the first division the bottom 6 sides are playing with a constant fear of relegation because they have such a limited oppertunity to get back... you only need to look around us at Dundee, Dunfermline & Partick. It's a win or die attitude from the first game of the season which leaves no space to try and play football... if the SPL is increased and the promotion places increased then you would have more variety in managers, players and most of all standard in football
  2. The teams in the SPL would never go for a 16 team league as they would lose 8 games, even an enhanced league cup would never cover that as the attendances in them would be poor, even if it was regionalised, remember we played County in the semi final of the challenge cup and the crowd was below 3,000 If it was the league cup it would have been full attendance.. I know what you mean but the truth is there isn't an answer that will please everyone. With fewer games in a season it might have a positive effect because more people would attend the smaller pool of games... and each game would carry more relevance
  3. 16 team SPL with a revamped League cup which includes regaional group stage to provide the additional games and revenue. :)
  4. Elgin fans... f*ck going a long to watch that tripe they are without doubt the best fans on the planet Didn't realise Borough Briggs was sold out every home game ! if anything that shows their dedication to the cause... it's not as if they go a long to to follow a crowd or because it's popular to do so (i.e. either of the OF). Pure and utter devotion to their team, the idea and likely hood of Elgin never winning anything or competing at a higher level doesn't put them off... when some people say why bother there is still a number (not many) that still go along. That's support for you
  5. Elgin fans... f*ck going a long to watch that tripe they are without doubt the best fans on the planet
  6. Richie Foran.. but I think I'm one of many
  7. Ho... there's only one fecking Harry on these boards
  8. It's because no-one believes me that the league will be won on Saturday. don't think it can Do we not still have to wait for C*unty results? Hope not anyway (not that I wish to pick or chose the game), would prefer it was the week after so I can make the game
  9. :) Sorry meant IHE.. that's what happens when you type while speaking with a financial advisor No. 9 was either Paul Burns or Willie McLaren.. but yeh he gave Golly a torrid time
  10. Appreciate the effort mate but think at best we'll be able to afford is a long stretch of canvis and some paint... I still say "Hiya Leigh Hiya Pal" would offer the most comedy value but that's because I suggested it :)
  11. County in 2010 are a much bigger, wealthier, more established team than ICT were in 2000. We had just come up from Division 2 with a team and manager largely from the Highland League, rather thanthe SPL origins that form the base of County these days. County have been battling for promotion, ICT back then were happy to be steering clear of relegation. Perhaps the question has been answered by the media coverage. County's win is the backpage headline today, whereas ours was the front page, everywhere. I note that on the BBC news last night, yesterday's result wasn't even the main sports story. Celtic losing, and losing to lower league teams is par for the course these days, and a first division team reaching the cup final isn't a novelty any more after Gretna and Queens managed it in very recent years. County raised eyebrows across the land, but there are no shock waves. This post made me smile :)
  12. Was going to put up my own smileyometer but IFA's done the hard work with his Pulsometer (and I'm not going to knick that idea as well :P ) Not far off my ratings although I thought Golly was caught out on a number of occasions with a long ball over the top, his pace and awareness is shot but he still has the determination to win any challenge he goes in for. I'd have given him :D :( :) Esson also deserves a mention for the save before he got injured... crucial time in the match and he showed bravery to stand firm and take the knock. Hayes had a hard time because there was no space to run into and the winger seemed to be doubling up with the full back any time he got the ball... it wasn't until Proctor decided to overlap that Hayes got more room and came into the game more. Eric had the best game I've seen since Dundee... there is definitely a player in there waiting to come out, he needs to improve his work rate but I think he'll have a vital role in getting us promotion. It's between Rossco & Foran for Motm both were absolutely outstanding.. Munro's celebration with the crowd after the goal was one of my highlights of the season.. tremendous header and his first thought was to celebrate with his fans... Granty has a lot of faults and not the favourite player with some fans but I've not been happier for a player to score.. Queens have an excellent team, which makes the 3 points all the more sweeter. If I thought there was anychance of getting him I'd be recommending Bob Harris to Butcher.. although he was sent off I thought he was one of the most influential players on the park beforehand
  13. Can't make this one... saving cash for Ayr
  14. Not for me... I don't buy it at all I can understand looking at teams in different divisions or maybe clubs that are not in direct competition with your club but C*unty are. We have been competing with them since (ICT) existance and always will.. I don't ever want to see them do well because it generally means that we are not. I felt sick when I was hearing the score line the other day and doubt I'll be watching the final incase the worst does happen.
  15. It's a new age... there's always someone else to hate
  16. Was it not 13??? We could get both though
  17. IF we get 3 points against Dunfermline does anyone fancy chipping in for a banner for the last game of the season??
  18. We have no team for next season unless the 3 of them are signed. Foran is key, if he is signed on a 2/3 year contract then it should convince Rooney to extend his an Hayes to sign on for at least 2 years.
  19. That's one of the main reasons I like the guy.. Staam, Beckham & Van Nistelrooy... no name is too big to get rid of. If they have any back chat to the media about him their out on their erse. Not many managers would have the baws to get rid of those 3 but Fergie has done and recovered each time.... He sold Ronaldo for ?150 mil (???) and they are still challenging for the title!! Ok 11 titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 1 Cup Winner's Cup, 2 Champions Leagues, 1 Uefa Super Cup, 1 Club World cup. Not only best manager in Scottish history but by a fair bit he's the most succesful manager ever.. Jock Stein doesn't come close... he also didn't have to deal with the same media exposure there is now a days or I'm sure he would have been portrayed in the same light as Fergie There's a difference because Fergie has earn't the money to spend.. he has made MUFC an international brand so it's not as though some investor produced the millions to spend. If anything it's the opposite with the Glaizers who have come and put the club in debt Never have guessed :( You just have to look at Benitez (also an excellent manager) to see a bad bad bad loser.. when have you seen him acknowledge his team beaten by a better side. Look at his feud with Allerdyce for example... or when he called Everton a "little team"??? My point is to win at all costs it takes a certain type of person, ruthless and unapologetic... Fergie has created a legacy at Man U and I doubt any person will be able to carry on his success at the club.
  20. What a load of tosh I want the best for ICT and ICT only. C*unty getting any sort of success or achieving more than us makes the neutral supporter swing in their direction... best part of yesterday was Chick Young going round and telling all their players that they had already qualified for Europe.. :D
