  1. Yep OCG there is indeed - I just hanker back to the golden years of the 60s when a few loo rolls bought from the corner shop on the way to the ground were more than sufficient to show your delight when the goals went in. Only problem was you're team had to play in white if you wanted yer loo roll to be the same as the team colours!
  2. Totally agree with the dangerous aspect of the flares but the effects of the smoke are the same from both - hard to see how nominating a certain area can help with this as you're at the mercy of the prevailing wind. Just can't see the fascination with them, many hundreds of twirly scarfs are more my thing.
  3. Flares are an absolute bugger if you have asthma and are downwind of them
  4. …a wee postscript for Reece McAlear - if you’re not going to be at Inverness next season please come back to Norwich 😀
  5. Had to listen to the radio commentary (thank you BBC!) while working so looking forward to seeing the 2nd leg on the telly. No matter what the outcome on Monday night I couldn’t be prouder to be a CaleyJags fan at the moment. Following that drastic spell in the season when everything seemed to be going so wrong the turnaround in the latter stages of the regular season and the sheer effort expended throughout the playoffs has been quite exceptional. Billy Dodds does indeed merit great plaudits for this (extremely impressed with his post match interview admitting he got the initial tactics wrong) but it is obviously a tremendous effort from everyone at the club. The passion, guts and determination shown in the face of adversity has been outstanding. Well done all you’ve done yourselves proud, just one final push on Monday and you’ll do it - thanks for the ride
  6. Catching up after a few days in the doldrums, interesting thread. Brings to mind a couple of comments made in the Killie/Arbroath commentary - the last losses for both teams were at the hands of ICT. Just shows what a huge opportunity we've squandered this season with such a mixed bag of results - and begs the question, who is ultimately at fault? Was it down to a small core of players not pulling their weight or simply not up to the task, or was it the management team failing to get the tactics or motivation right to get the best out of everyone? I can appreciate the arguments on both sides. I'm not able to offer an opinion as I have seen precious little of the games this season, just had to rely on the updates and reports from you guys. It's an enigma right enough, flashes of brilliance which showed the ability and quality was there, but equally spells of utter dross that would have had us struggling against Clach! Can only hope that the problems that were obviously there in the 3rd quarter of the season are now behind us and we can hit the play-offs running on a high. Great that we can have a forum to debate these moot points in a friendly demonstration of mutual respect for each others opinions 👍
  7. Yep, not exactly vital but securing third place with a win tonight will be hugely beneficial for our play-off chances. QotS will be/should be fired up as it is vital for them so we need to be sharp. Reckon an early goal would pretty much knock the stuffing out of them. They folded against Arbroath and I'm not so sure they have the bottle anymore to pick themselves up from that.

Sad news and an excellent tribute Scotty. Haven't seen the big man in years but whenever I met him he always made me feel instantly back home and welcome. Big Stew you will be sadly missed by everyone, rest in peace big fella.
  9. Thought the mannie's first post summed it up nicely!
  10. We've done it before, and if the performances and spirit maintain the level set yesterday, we can do it again.
  11. How we are still managing to cling on to a play-off spot is almost as puzzling as how our performances have managed to deteriorate so drastically. Just as well Raith are also in a race with us to dive out of the play-offs or the slim chance we still have would already be gone.
  12. Sounds like a few rockets directed up some rear ends is needed - all in all some very depressing reading and I really don't think BD has the capability to light the necessary touch paper.
  13. With you there RiG - their performance on Friday night showed that Dougie Imrie will be bringing a totally different prospect from the side we faced in December.
  14. Thumbs up for the glass half full optimism, fully expecting a top up to the brim this week 👍
  15. I don't like Boris's Plan B down here but at least he had one - we seem to have had our fair share of managers unable or reluctant to change things on the park until it's too late...
  16. Cheers Robert, just got my NPL prediction done 😀👍
  17. While a nice cup run is all very well and good I'd much rather have the 3 points tomorrow, or even just the 1. Given the last few weeks I think we're in for a tough spell ahead and will need every point we can garner...
  18. Big plaudits to the vocal band of supporters who made the long trek to Dumfries - you guys brought a big smile to my grumpy old face and did as much to brighten up a dull night shift as the lads on the pitch! 👍
  19. At the moment I feel that could look a bit optimistic - doesn't take much in this league to drop quickly to to the wrong end of the table and there doesn't seem much on offer to give me any confidence that won't happen. Please prove me wrong Doddsy...

Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end... ...without doubt my favourite spell of footie ever!
  21. Came across the game between Spain and Algeria last night, didn't know blind football existed. Absolutely astonishing with some brilliantly quick footwork on display. Goodness knows how they do it, quite amazing to watch and humbling at the same time.
  22. How Raith perform on Friday night may be a better form guide at this early stage of the season. We struggled against Stirling in the League Cup group yet they've had a poor start to their league campaign conceding 3 in both of their last two games. Early days but think it's fair to say that this will be a very competitive league campaign yet again with little distance between the play-off spots at either end of the table.
  23. Fully agree with all the comments in your post Kingsmills - as far as the financial cost of travelling to friendlies is concerned it would be in our best interests if we could persuade one or two of those English sides to play us in Sneck if they were on a wee tour north of the border. Would have been out of the question this past two seasons with Covid travelling restrictions but for future years it would be far better than giving some HL sides a hammering and thinking we're on top of our game.
  24. Nice to get the bad days in the office out of the way before the serious stuff starts! That's about the only silver lining I can find from the last two results...
