Morton away March2024
Arbroath ain’t giving it up without a fight - we seriously need to pull our socks up pdq or else that relegation playoff spot will end up looking like this season’s ambitious target!

Morton away March2024
I think a lot of us will understand exactly where you’re coming from!

Dunfermline home Feb2024
Very disappointing only taking 2 points from these last two games - my increasing worry now is whether we’re capable of beating Hamilton, or anyone else from League One, in a playoff 😕

Inverness CT -V- Partick Thistle - Preview
Thanks Robert, as Douglas said “this team is a work in progress” so hopefully they’re getting to know each other and will gel better before the next two games - nothing less than 6 points needed from them!

A band of hope ?
After the positive decision from the battery project meeting I’d have gone for Jeff Beck’s Hi Ho Silver Lining but now, after the news tonight, it looks like snorbens might be a more realistic choice 😕

Battery Project - Chairman's Statement
WTF! Councillors never cease to amaze me…

Next Fans Meeting Saturday 3rd Feb
That was my concern when I first read about the charges, albeit further down the line. A rejection of the application, however, could very well bring about that possibility sooner if we’re in such dire straits. Worrying times ahead off the pitch if the decision goes against the application.

Queens Park - Feb 3rd 2024
It’s a pity we didn’t do some business to strengthen the defence during the transfer window 😕

January Transfer window news
Yep absolutely but the big issue that had to be addressed was avoiding relegation in the first place so that we weren’t rebuilding as a part-time outfit in the lower leagues. Looks like Big Dunc has recruited wisely to fill that brief and should hopefully make us a better looking prospect for those available in the transfer market come summer time. I’m quite looking forward to seeing what these guys can do for us.

Battery Project - Chairman's Statement
That sounds very logical Stephen but I’ve found over the years that logic and common sense quite often fly out of the window at committee when personal agendas come into play. I’ve no idea if that would be an issue in this particular case but nothing ever surprises me when councillors are involved.

January Transfer window news
I see on the link that Newcastle paid £250,000 for Remi in 2021 when they got him from Liverpool - any word on what we’ve had to pay for him, sounds like a very interesting prospect.

Do they go to the same hairdresser?

January Transfer window news
It’s a dire situation financially - we need to trim the squad to garner as much spare cash in the kitty as we can before we bring others in.

Airdrie away Jan 2024
Fortunately we’re not on our own at the bottom end of the table so we’re still in with a fighting chance if some half decent bodies get added during the transfer window. Was just thinking about what dire straits we’d be in if it wasn’t for the wee bounce when Dunc took over - could’ve been well adrift and properly doomed by now so grateful for the small mercy of still having a wee bit of hope.

Luckily for us it’s just as well Ayr, Arbroath and Queens Park are also getting zilch from this afternoon…

v Arbroath Dec 2023
Oops, that result was a tad disappointing. Had expected 6 points from the games this past week and hoped for more but I always thought the Morton game would be a tough ask. Previously I’d have been very despondent but don’t feel that way tonight. I see it as a blip in our new world with the hope and expectation that Big Dunc will eventually manage to clear out the dead wood and get the squad fine tuned in the way he wants. One thing for sure, yet again we’ve been shown there ain’t no easy games in this league. The margin between the play-offs at either end of the table is very fine indeed and there will be no room for complacency in the second half of the season.

A worthy candidate for Quote of the Season! 😂

ICT v Raith: 2 December
Ah the good old days before TV when you could go for a walk down the pub with yer Da and the dog and the dog gets in the warm while you're outside with yer crisps and lemonade Yep, can't disagree with any of the comments above, it was an impossible task back then and it still is now..

ICT v Raith: 2 December
Yngwie is absolutely right and IMO it shows how ridiculous the official interpretation of the rule is. As a young referee back in the 70s/80s I found it nigh on impossible to give a definitive ruling on many occasions so had to resort to reaching the negative decision because you couldn’t be sure the whole of the ball was over the line - and this caused some heated arguments I still recall very well. Even these days, without the benefit of an overhead digital camera drawing lines on the screen for you the decision is always going to be controversial. Would it not be better to have the rule amended so that any clear grass between the line and the ball means it has crossed the line? So much simpler for everyone and especially for the refs in the lower leagues who do not have the benefit of the latest technology.

Battery Project - Chairman's Statement
You can't really argue against that statement. I think most of us feel it is a worthwhile and beneficial project for the wider community in general and for the club's finances in particular, but I don't think there's much doubt that it seems to have been a poorly presented proposal.

Battery Project - Chairman's Statement
Following this deferral I'd like to think common sense will prevail and the project will get voted through by the cooncillors after the site visit and more information around mitigations is forthcoming. The relationship, however, between planning committees, council votes and common sense rarely seem to go hand in hand...

Battery Project - Chairman's Statement
There is always hope when it gets to the councillor’s vote stage. Locally, we recently had granted planning permission for a new care home that had a lot of opposition overturned by the councillors after some determined lobbying. Hopefully there’s enough fight in the community to put in the effort for this. I have no business acumen and may be a bit naive about this sort of stuff and no doubt there are some personalities who stand to gain personally from the project’s success, but it seems to be a legitimate proposal that could do well for the community as well as helping out the club financially. It seems worth the effort to fight for.

Battery Project - Chairman's Statement
My feelings too Scotty - this particular sentence in the Chairman's statement says it all. Sounds like we're heading for part-time if this project fails.

v Dunfermline Nov 2023
Disappointed we couldn’t hang on for the 3 points but also relieved to come away with the 1 after so many of their attempts hit the post. Prior to Big Dunc’s arrival I wouldn’t have had any hope of getting a result there. So the unbeaten run continues and I’m getting the feeling the best is yet to come.

Battery Project - Chairman's Statement
I find it quite hard to understand the council’s refusal, their arguments against the proposal seem very weak. In this day and age with authorities all over the country striving to reach net zero targets the battery farm seemed like a no-brainer to me. Notwithstanding the financial benefits the club would appear to gain from it, I would have thought the benefits to the community would have the council championing it. Like Robert though I have no knowledge of the ins and outs or the full implications of the proposal, just seemed like a good idea to me. Not a new experience alas, I’ve seen so many brainless decisions from planning committees and councils that I really should no longer be surprised.
