  1. I echo everything said above - so sad to hear this - RIP Dave and condolences to Kay and the rest of the family.
  2. I believe an Insolvency practitioner (the Administrator in our case) has to assess the history of the business and conduct of all the directors (or people who acted as if they were directors) of the company and then report to the government Insolvency Service within six months of their appointment. These reports are confidential, but I think the information contained in them is the primary source of evidence for any subsequent attempt to disqualify a person from being a company director in the future.
  3. It's not part of the primary legislation that governs insolvency (Insolvency Act 1986) or the secondary legislation from 2016 (England) or 2018 (Scotland), but something that the football governing bodies insist upon to allow a club to continue after the Insolvency process. As such it's rather controversial and frequently criticised - I don't think there's any other sector with an equivalent provision.
  4. My heart sinks when I see someone's name as a thread title - awful news and my sympathy to all his friends and family. A football club is nothing without fans and Johndo was such a big part of this club, so recognisable
  5. Very sorry to hear this. There's not much I can add to the above tributes, but repeat how generous and friendly Ian was - and his contribution to the history of ICT will always be remembered.
  6. Stuart Baxter has got experience in a few countries, double winner last season, few years left to retirement - perfect choice!
  7. I just need to plug a £20 cable and get a bit of software on the computer to clock mine in a couple of minutes ;) Mind you, do they have computers in Dingwall?
  8. Mod note: I've edited the post in question - I believe it was just a geniune error in the location of the quote tag, rather than an intentional mis-quote.
  9. I think this is a real goer, but we're thinking too small. We should look at getting Terry, Mo, Charlie and Rosscoe's faces carved into the Plockton Crags, just like them Merrican presidents
  10. thank goodness!
  11. I'll see your Jura 10yo and raise you a Scapa 1993! Hmm... 12yo Highland Park is as close as I can get - will have to go shopping next week!
  12. Jura 10yo :-)
  13. Agree exactly with Doofers Dad
  14. The policy is that cheap Advance tickets normally go on sale 12 weeks before, the same I think for all train companies apart from if there's engineering works planned.
  15. Without waiting for the official verdict it seems that Rangers' problem is that they didn't use some of the money saved with the EBTs to employ a decent tax lawyer to make sure the scheme was completely legit and properly operated so that there couldn't have been a challenge from the Revenue in the first place...
  16. Would have preferred a win, but I agree.
  17. Can only echo what Mantis, Kind of Blue, Donview and others have said. RIP
  18. The Fly

    Haircut 100

Hopefully he'll gel quickly with the rest of the squad.
  19. And now if any Scottish business sponsored only one of the clubs they would risk alienating a big chunk of the population of the largest city in the country!
  20. As the Mantis said, look at a Canon 550D - it's technically been replaced by the 600D, but Canon seem to keep two models of this level in circulation now and you can get some excellent deals on the 550. Low light performance of this and the 1100D is excellent, with hand-hand indoor photos without flash being easy to take and of good quality. But also as he says the lenses are where you can spend real money! I've got the 550D (after having the 450D) and upgraded from the kit 17-55 lens that comes with the camera to the 15-85 which is about as much again as the camera itself. If you do get a Canon the 55-250 lens is well worth considering as an excellent value telephoto zoom and perfectly complements the kit lens. In reality you'll get more than acceptable results even from the kit lens if you're used to a compact or bridge camera, and the DPP software that comes with all the Canon DSLRs helps you improve images further.
  21. If I were Lennon I think I would have kept my mouth shut and not mentioned this incident again.
  22. Quite an achievement for Sion to knock out Celtic - a town the size of Elgin in the Swiss equivalent of Morayshire - or is this really reflective of the state of Scottish football now?
  23. You are Tom Hendrie AICMFP!
  24. I agree with Clacher - if you go somewhere in continental Europe then people can usually drink, more slowly, untii they've had enough and get tired and naturally want to go to bed. Less congregating around the stations, taxi ranks, food places and everyone just gets home at their own pace more peacefully.
  25. Paul Sheerin in front of the home fans at Somerset Park in Div 1, around 2001/2, from around 30 yards out.
