  1. Well we will need to do without him for 3 weeks apparently. Heard on the radio the knee injury has re-appeared and he's definitely out of the celtic and utd games.
  2. If the club genuinely want fans to generate an atmosphere, it would be so easy for them to do so. If they looked in this thread they'd have 5/6 ideas that would get the place loud.
  3. It was a friendly. Does anyone actually expect a full stadium or any form of atmosphere in a friendly?
  4. About our home support. It was a friendly. They had been travelling from Belgium and no doubt drinking all the way. There is no way a comparison can be made, trust me. If Antwerp travelled to play every team in Britain, 99% wouldn't sing. It's a friendly.
  5. Less fear than usual in the build-up, but there will still be the normal nervous knot in the stomach whenever they have a corner/free kick.
  6. Enjoyed that, was like a competitive fixture as some points. The atmosphere from the Belgians helped a lot. Gillet was very impressive, deserved the MoM award. Roscoe was immense again at centre-back, Proctor played well considering it isn't his best position and he was up against some absolute giants. Rooney had nothing all day but long balls, difficult to judge how well he played. Put in the effort and made the most out of what he got. What a difference having Foran back on the pitch though, superb on the left. Odi was excellent again as well, making the right runs and chasing every ball. As much as the game was enjoyable, cannot wait for a real game against one half of the old filth next week.
  7. A decent performance, more of a pre-season friendly than anything. A few moments of excitement, although more were found in the half-time entertainment than the game itself. I hope they keep that on, seeing the wee lad dummy the ball about 15 times before fluffing it was fantastic. Was that Max Johnson in goals at half-time? Nice if it was. Out of the new boys, Blumenshtein looks like he has enough in him to take control of that spot behind Rooney, McCann looks strong enough at right-back, with enough awareness to let his lack of height be a non-issue and Innes did look the part when he was on. Did Innes get injured? He didn't feel his thigh/foot, didn't go down at any point, and looked more angry at being subbed than anything else. Man of the Match - Odi scored one and caused havoc with his pace when introduced. Odi is the new Rooney unless the ginge starts to pull the strings again. Cox can share this award, he was superb. The new Ian Black. We are not quite the full article without Hayes and Foran. Really hope they can get some game time before the Celtic game or it'll be sit-in and hope they don't score for 90 minutes.
  8. Good result, Stockport aren't a bad team. Hope that Hayes, Foran and Rooney are back for the Queens Park game otherwise they won't be anywhere near ready come celtic.
  9. Poor result but we're not the only team to be having a pre-season shocker.
  10. This season more than any of the other's before has me feeling both excited and nervous as hell. I believe the team we have at the moment is one of the best we have had for a few years now (playing the system we play now), but I'd hate it all to go downhill. One thing I can say for definite is that it will take a while for us get going. I think we play 5 of last year's top six in our opening six games, with a few points picked up there. After then we can start taking points away from our rivals.
  11. I did not like the look of it at all when it was posted before, but it looks a lot better on the players. Nice to see Foran hasn't disappeared off the face of the earth.
  12. The decision was made a while ago, so it won't be an issue with the players thats stopping him from confirming. Doubt that he would be having second thoughts. Why would Foran leave? He has just signed an extension, is the captain of the team and has said that he wants to stay for as long as possible, and that Inverness would be a good place to end his career. I think it could just be that it is a bit of a tricky subject, and Butcher wouldn't want to offend Munro by publicly stating why he is no longer captain.
  13. good signing. Experience and an old head at the back. A left back and the side is complete. One more season in the SPL might be too much for Golly, but then he surprised everyone last season and i wouldn't put money on him doing it again.
  14. Good choice. Feel for Grant but Richie is the ideal captain. Foran is victorious. Get the feeling Grant will bounce back stronger than ever. I'm sure that Butcher has cleared it with both players months beforehand.
  15. Sounds like a perfect pre-season game. What was so good about Tuffey's welcome?
  16. Our stadium is pretty good as it is. It's just big enough, good location for both sets of fans. Other stadiums though are pretty scummy. Aberdeen is just a dire place to be, but the state of the stadium was shocking. A scoreboard will not enhance our stadium in any way.
  17. From what I can scrape together about the 3 trialists : Darren Lough (taken from the Darlington forum): "Lough would be a very good signing, he's a good, solid left-back who rarely gets beaten and is comfortable on the ball. Great attitude too, and can play centre-back if needed. Just lacks that yard of pace and bit of flair you need to make it in the Premier League/Championship, but I definitely believe he's a Football League player so he'd be more than good enough for the Conference." Newcastle fans seem surprised that Morris has been let go. A couple said he looked like a really good player. And Andrew Milne had a couple of comments on the same Darlington website: "Milne got better as he went on and was always committed. I'd be happy if we signed him as he can play every position across the back line." Don't know if Darlington fan's opinions are anything to go by considering the season they've had, but all three players have won admirers which can only be good.
  18. Liking the sound of the three new trialists. More Butcher-style headbands than Blumentstein, but I'll settle for that. By the way did Ian Black have any substantial experience when he moved up here? No-one out of Hayes, Cox, Proctor, Wyness, Duncan had what I'd call substantial playing experience before we offered them a chance. Anyone know what was said on the Sky Sports News interview?
  19. Both look like good signings, delighted we are off the mark. Blumenshtein looks a find, but Johnston could be a player as well. Annoying I'll miss their debuts against Clach/Forres next week. Juanjo could be back in the form of Gil Blumenshtein. Who doesn't love a flair player. Even if he just warms up and looks suave it will be money well spent.
  20. Celtic at home is alright. Nice for the Cellic faithful to see a championship flag unfurling, they must have forgotten what it looks like. Looking out for the big games, away to Aberdeen and Hearts, home to the Old Firm. Looks good, pity about the midweek trip to Aberdeen though.
  21. Roscoe is built in with the bricks. He is a club legend, but I think Butcher has done all he can to keep him. It's up to Roscoe if he wants to try his hand at a 'bigger' club. If he does go, he'll be back at some point. Same with Esson.
  22. Didn't take long for us to be shot at, only a few weeks after getting back to the big-time. This is exactly why I love the SPL, every club thinks they are huge and we are tiny (mebbe with the exception of St Johnstone). When we hump them it is so much more enjoyable, as is telling them to shut up. Utd bringing a couple of thousand? They bring about 300-600 most times, and from a city the size of Dundee that is pitiful. Dundee has a population of 159,522, with two major clubs. Tbh, most of the away games I went to in the SPL days the home support was poor and the ICT support was genuinely pretty good. Aberdeen away, Hearts away and Hibs away were the best, by no means can you compare our support to Hamiltons.
  23. Neither would stay to sit on the bench. Esson has 18 clean sheets out of 36 games, and saved something like 8 penalties (taking into account the shoot-outs). Plus he seems to have the defence running like clockwork around him. Esson please.
  24. Delighted both have signed, not sure about the 'experience' factor, we have plenty of that already. McBain is possibly my favourite player from the old era. Socks down and running at the opposition, just superb. And Golly has been cracking since coming back, he was an ICT legend beforehand, and even more so now. Now Esson, Roscoe and Bambi can sign up, and we can focus on signing that Aldershot reserves player we'll all been looking forward to.
  25. Does this mean that if I go down to the Bught and watch a game, I have to choose a side to support? I just like watching football. Just to save myself getting savaged by 'ultra-fans', there is nothing that would make me happier than seeing county getting crushed today.
