  1. Very difficult to split both keepers mentioned but Ryan probably suffered for the inclusion of half the ICT team! IMO I would probably swap Lilley for Keddie.
  2. Sad really. He did us so much damage by bringing guys like Rooney and Esson to the club!!!!
  3. Double it and add two and you are probably closer!
  4. Once the euphoria of this league championship wears off so might the urge to go against my deep rooted Anglophobia, who knows? Maybe it's the guilt of my comments on these boards earlier in the season making me want to give something back to God TB, but I think that I may have to seek IHE's professional opinion as I am still thinking about my allegiance during the forthcoming WC. Just repeat : They think it's all over.....it is now! That'll do the trick !
  5. You've been on the sauce Birdie! Can't possible bring myself to contemplate such treachery. signed up member of ABE and happy to remain so. Apologies to TB but you have to draw the line somewhere!
  6. Assuming you are unfamiliar with the more rancid elements of Scottish football (otherwise I'd be stating the obvious), how about: 1) Irish flag 2) British flag 3) English flag 4) Any flag with a swastika on it. This list is by no means comprehensive. I hasten to add that I personally have no time for this tricolour/union flag cr&p, however, I do not pretend to be unaware of it's existence. Thank you for that. I look forward to flying my Afghan flag in peace when we sign our trialist CF Mustapha Topshot. You also forgot the Red Hand of Ulster and the Palestinian flag as apparently they cause mischief too. To be honest, i am much more concerned that there appears to be an element of our support (tiny and uneducated it may be) that seem so keen to seek divide or bigoted elements when they don't exist. A few you lads with the flag of Eire in support of the Dublin three and a couple of ROI football tops are easy targets for narrow minds. Suggest you spend less time worrying about those who may take offence and join in the fun for the fabulous trio that are Rooney, Foran and Hayes.
  7. Don't think I'd like the site of England flags at ICT! Go well with some of the Rangers tops we see so regularly :blush02: !
  8. Could we have a list of the flags that cause mischief? I'm not stupid either but need some guidance in case my Latvian flag for Bully could be construed as offensive by some narrow minded individual.
  9. Looked on their forum this morning. No problems at all. Complimented for the quality of the party!
  10. Think this is a pretty fair assessment. On the subject of democratic deficit, I think there are far more pressing issues closer to home. What kind of system where, hypothetical speaking, you can finish second by one vote in every seat in the land and receive no representation can be viewed as democratic? At least there is some form of proportionality in EP elections. We allow the old and new Tories a free hand as whilst they tell us "your vote counts" or "every vote counts" they both do the utmost to ensure that this is not the case and the status quo remains (unlike I'ness ).
  11. From what I'm told Gordon Smith is looking at buying his Granny's old house in Dochfour Drive and apparently the windows need done and he wants a conservatory.
  12. Disagree Oz and in doing so, make it clear that I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for our forces that our leaders send to ridiculous locations on ridiculous crusades. The right wing media does a fantastic job in making us concentrate on Xmas dinners or art works when the truth is that our GDP expenditure on defence is entirely out of sync with our Western European counterparts. Just because of our so called "special relationship" with the US our leaders have decided to force our military into totally unacceptable situations at a cost, not just in financial terms, that we cannot afford to pay. I tire of seeing body bags sent home from occupations in wars that mean little to us. The invasion of Iraq as a revenge attack for "Daddy's" mistakes by GWB, supported by our devious liar of a Prime Minister who furnished our parliament with a pack of lies (WMD where?) has cost us and continues to cost us billions. For what? A safer world? Maybe one time soon we will have leadership that realises that it is not our job to seek "regime change" in nations we dislike, our troops will be able to be deployed doing what they should be doing and our nation will not be detested the length and breadth of the world. It's not just the bankers that have inflicted financial ruin on our nation. Warmongering leaders have a lot to answer for.
  13. If Councils concentrated on delivering the services they were funded to provide and not the "hobby horse" projects they wish to pursue then the problem would be significantly reduced. For example, loads of local authorities still spend a fortune on a "development" role despite the fact that this power was transferred (rightly or wrongly is a separate argument) to the enterprise agencies years ago. I for one was delighted with the CT freeze as it is already like a second mortgage for many. When you don't see a pavement gritter or snowplough round your road from 18th Dec to 12th Jan you wonder what the hell you are paying for? Until we get a proper breakdown of what expenditure councils spent on legally obligated areas and what goes on choice, I see keep the CT freeze.

  15. Wheels came off some time ago :D !
  16. To the best of my knowledge HL clubs are part of the senior set up and are included as such within all structures. That is why you have had chairmen of HL clubs sitting on SFA Committees. Guy from Cove Rangers had a very senior position I think and David Dowling was on one of them. In the past the term used to be "most northern league club".
  17. Careful Harry. A equally poor Celtic once signed Wayne Biggins !!
  18. I played football against Bobby Geddes at Kildary many, many years ago. Not as big as he is now but he was only 12!
  19. You mean disproportionately large like the settlement itself under the Barnett Formula? You really are a UKIP man!! Why is it that that when the anti SNP brigade (aka the We Can't Look After Ourselves We Have Issues Club) have something to say all the can talk of is the bloody Barnett Formula? Never a mention of the significant exploitation of Scottish resources for decades or the fact that we are in the state we are in because of absentee rule from Westminster by the parties they support! The SNP get some degree of power for a short period and low and behold they are to blame for everything. the fact the A9 isn't fully dualled is wee Eck's fault. Not the buggers that had decades to do something about it and did hee haw. They are falling over themselves to have a pop and it's hilarious. I want my right to make my own decisions, my own mistakes, my own successes and my own future. Those who deny me this are the ones with the problem, not me. After all, why should we have to wait until England wants change before we can have any?
  20. At this present time, due in some respect to our antiquated benefits system, much of our economy is being supported by Eastern Europeans. This generates profit (unless of course they work in a bank :004: ) which gives the country tax income and so it goes on. Without there contribution we would be, to quote IHE, fecked.
  21. I'm thinking more of a Peter Lawwell type character. He came to football with no background in the game and a huge business knowledge. Albeit not totally without failure but definitely a success.
  22. An extra and unnecessary layer of overpaid politicians and apparatchiks .... wads and wads of useless bureaucracy and red tape.... massive subsidies for French farmers..... getting told what to do by a bunch of foreigners.... I remember, as a kid, when de Gaulle said "non" to the UK's initial application to join the Common Market in 1963, various Highland Division veterans of my dad's acquaintance who had waded ashore in Normandy soon after D Day were very quick to use the word "ungrateful". I sympathised with their point but now realise that de Gaulle was probably doing us a favour. Mind you if the girny old git had realised that he would probably have said "oui" instead. It has opened up trading within Europe and many Scottish companies have grown with this increase in trade. It has allowed wonderful low cost airlines (Ryanair being a shining example) to grow and expand affording the proletariate the freedom to explore our wonderful new United States of Europe. It is now easier to move between member states, my brother now lives and works overseas in a member state where the standard of living is comparable and standards of public service far superior with less taxation. It has shown me what a rip off our "social security" state is to those who work for a living. Stick your Act of Union up yer erse, give me an independant Scotland within the EU any day. This is not an anti-English thing but a wish for self-determination for our region within a larger European state. With you 100%. Imagine how much better off we would be if we had joined the Euro at 1.65 when we had the chance? Sadly the politicians that are supposed to represent us didn't. They let the "Save the ?" lobby convince the rest of the country we really are too thick to cope with change. How did we cope with decimalisation? How did the Poles manage to cope with old Zloty, then new Zloty and now here comes the Euro? Are we really the backward nation we pretend to be? Surprised at one so intelligent as Mr Bannerman nonetheless. Never had him down as a UKIP kind of guy. Highlander, Scottish and European. That's me.
  23. Why could anyone possible want Dundee to do anything other than drop points :D ? Bird in the hand ....... and carry out on the train in certainty for me every time.
  24. Bottom line is that the organisation Smith joined is exactly the same now as it was when he was appointed. It didn't suddenly become this dinosaur, he knew what it was and was confident in his ability to change it. He changed nothing. The point I am really trying to make (not very well I accept :D ) is that the job is not one for an ex pro who happens to have a bit of gumption, wear nice clothes, look quite smart and appear a tad more eloquent than Charlie Nicholas. A hard nosed individual with experience of institutional change and the corporate world is what is required. Someone who will take people with them or remove them. A real high calibre CE or CEO can achieve this without the support of the entire board/committee if they have the people skills and acumen to do so. It is highly unlikely that this individual will come from a football background. Take the points about Traynor as fair comment and hang my head in shame for even attempting to justify!! That said Chic is still a bigger fanny by far!!
  25. You can't possibly lump Traynor in with Young? Craig Brown is a good guy and I would have expected nothing less than for him to stick up for the fellow football guy but if you read closely, at no time is he critical of the SFA. He talks about things taking time because of the committee structure but does not apportion blame. Bottom line is this is a job for a hard nosed commercial beast who knows how to play the corporate game not the ball game. Smith is not that guy and never will be. Said at the start I do not often agree with Traynor but comparison with daft Chic, that's just wrong and probably libelous :023: !!
