Ok here I go....... I agree totally with IHE, for once (okay maybe twice!) he is entirely right. Lionel is the exact same guy who was being totally ridiculed on this site not so many weeks ago. Yep, the guy our previous manager was lambasted for signing and nearly hung for playing in the SC against Partick. Still the exact same error prone disaster zone that eas playing for a German pub team before Brew signed him! Rememeber Brew, the gut most of you slag constantly for not having a clue. So what's changed? TB has turned Lionel into a hybrid of Paolo Maldini and Franz Beckenbar (sp?) in the space of a month? Nonsense, great job that TB is doing, the fact remains he ain't no Jose Mouriniho, Alex Ferguson, Guus Hiddink or Alex Ferguson, he's a guy who had did a fantastic job with Motherwell all those years ago and has done nothing since!! MM is in much the same boat, So there is no chance that the duo have turned Lionel into some superstar hero!! Time to get real. We all know that everyone makes mistakes and that is a pretty poor response. Bottom line is some guys are more prone than others and Lionel is right at the top of the tree. That's why we were his only option, that's why he left County, that's why he can't play in the Bundespubliga, that's why we need him out of the picture as fast as possible!! IHE you are 100% spot on.
  2. He does have many faults, the most annoying of which is his obvious admiration for one of the Ugly Sisters! That said, when you compare him to some of the pompus baffoons you get on Five Live he's a superstar. If you take at as read that most of the "information" he provides is pish, all of his "exclusives" are tosh, he can't write and reading is a struggle, then laugh, he's all right!
  3. Your probably right and I know I am. Doesn't send a good signal to punters if you sign someone as old as he will be at the start of a new season. Mind you, looking at the standard of some SPL strikers ...........
  4. Fantastic post!! It never ceases to amaze me the depth of football knowledge and understanding displayed on this messageboard. From what I understand at least 3 SPL clubs wanted to sign him but he couldn't due to a restriction in his departure. Kingsmill's point is far fairer and one many of us wonder. He without doubt, could have made a significant difference on the park, but can't see it having the potential to make any difference on the management side. Time to let the guy have some peace me thinks. I wish him all the best for the future as without doubt, he was one of the best to play for the club and whilst it was his time to go, think some of the ***** he has been subjected to on here is ridiculous.
  5. Or as a last minute panic, Strachan has managed to get an even worse player to cover for Lee Naylor! Glad he's not going to Midden, even just for his set piece ability.
  6. Don Gilllies. Think he must have played around 200 games for Bristol City in the seventies. Hard wee man who Parkie will know well as a fellow Lochaber man.
  7. Would be interested to see your definition of dignity Stevico. The education system in the Highlands has, perhaps, given me an entirely different perspective of the word's meaning. For example, what is difgnified in pubically leading a lynchmob calling for a man to lose his job? Callous yes, dignified no. Also the claim to "represent the views of the supporters" are somewhat misleading. I and the rest of my family would have happily aired our views at a constructive meeting but what's the point consulting when you've already made you're position very clear. Public bodies are ridiculed for this on a daily baisis, the trust deserve the same treatment. In addition, despite being in the glare of national and local media for over a week, publically ridiculing our management team constantly, the best the lynchmob could garner was less than 60 people, a significant number of whom were there in support of the manager. Quickly the thread of attack changes to the usual pies, tickects, merchandise etc. If you even assume that only 1000 home fans attend each week, that of the 60 that attended the meeting 60% supported the trust, 0.036% is hardly representative. Political organisations are castigated for such claims. Significantly, in my family circle, there is 100% support for CB in our 6 season tickets. This would also be the case for JR, CC or whoever. It is particularly sad that the rumblings of 12 people supported by a small number of pre pubescent teenagers are view as the fans opinion. Here's to CB and co getting back track and securing our SPL status once again as he has on the two previous occassions when picking up other peoples difficult situations. Sad that the first time he has a problem, "our support" turn on him. Me, I off to start causing problems for driving instructors that **** me off!
  8. Interesting how for some users every topic seems to end on an attack on CB. At the same time any user who tries to support or defend him, or has the audacity to be quite delighted that our club (yes it's my club too!) is once again enjoying top flight football has to be CB! Statement of fact: I am not CB CD also told me that the problem was that our top flight football status was now under threat and this was the reason for the unhappiness. This could be true but the sad reality is that some on this board attack CB at all times and always will. In his firts spell and since he returned some on;y get pleasure ffrom failure. Why who knows? Maybe it's because all those who attack him are JR or BW or CC or anyone else who might like his job! That of course is ridiculous isn't it! Going back on topic, I didn't realise the board was as full of FIFA coaches, DOFs, CEs and Managers as it is. Also it has amazed me the number of posters who have spent time watching BW coach, understand his ethos in the game and state with such certainty what a fabulous addition he would make to our staff. I have no opinion either way as I have not devoted the time others have to watch him coach................ Truth is they know as little as I do but just like making a noise as it's another opportunity for a go at CB. Please correct me if I am wrong but I will not accept answers that include: "I know or a friend knows a player and he says BW is a great coach". Factual info based on evidence not hearsay please.
  9. Fair point CD, forgot Dennis scored at weekend. Sure that many of our fans would be delighted if our CF had scored one goal by the middle of December. Mind you, it's different rules for some than others though isn't it? Happy. Absolutely! Kids can see top players they never had a chance to without spending hundreds of pounds going South. And they learn to support the local team at the same time. Maybe your kids are different but mine just want to see big names they've seen on the telly and guys they've heard off. Not really that interested in the quality of the football (good job at times!). So yeah, I'm happy! Another three points off the bottom on Saturday, I'll be even happier!
  10. First thing first, all the best to you Barry, you were a great servant to the club in both your spells at the club and I wish you every success in the future whatever you do. Feel I need to have my twopenneth worth on other matters though..... 1. A job must be found for him? This is nonsense. The club has and will have many ledgends. Fans can't dicdate that positions must be created for them when they come to the end of the line. Total and utter tosh! 2. Going to another SPL club? Not a chance! Ask the punters at McDiarmid Park about Barry's contribution on loan last season and you will get a clear response that he will struggle to get a decent frst division team. If I'm wrong, I'll apologise. Hope the same goes for all the nutters that claim he's going to end up in the SPL but somehow I doubt it! 3. As wrong as letting Dennis go? Dennis has been a rip roaring success with St Mirren hasn't he! One goal to his name, more time on the bench than Judge Judy for the team at the bottom of the league. Bad decision my ar*e! Spend less and less time on this board as every time I log on I seem to think I'm on an OF Board. Divine right to success....top six demanded....win cups.....failure....sack him...get rid of him....he's a this....he's a that...it goes on and on! Me and my kids are enjoying another season of top flight football in the Highlands. They know nothing different, I remember otherwise. Would I swap it for the top of the Second Division or way out in the Highland League? Not a chance. Love Street on Saturday for a win and a bigger gap from the bottom team. Success for me is simple.....keep top flight football. Nothing else matters.
  11. Just seen the Scotland team for tonight's game and it's true.....the worst full back I have ever seen, the legendary Klaus Klubfoot starts tonight! If ever there was final and difinitive proof that all you need to do to play for Scotland is have had a holiday in Berwick or play for the Old Firm then here we have it. Rosscoe must be raging as even a one legged Tokes with a groin strain on the other side would be of more use than that numpty. Am I being unreasonable or I am right in thinking it would be difficult to pick a worse Scottish right back from within the SPL? Absolute tosh from Burley. Don't even get me started on Kris Commons!
  12. Point taken RIG My view is however somewhat tainted by having viewed "the callers" posting history. Therefore I stand by the comment that they would get more pleasure watching a "Brewster" failure than an "ICT" success. Read the post I responded to and explain what the authour means stating "there seems to be absolutely no effort made to sign a defender"? Is it: A: Another criticism of the manager based on knowledge B: Another criticism of the manager based on no knowledge C: A sly swipe just for the crack D: All of the above Answer on my desk first thing Monday please!
  13. Firstly, I am intelligent enough to offer an alternative point of view i.e. counter arguement, that something is happening behind the scences and as yet has not reaped reward. Secondly, I am not quick to jump on the person I responded to. I have for a considerable period now, viewed the forum and chosen not to respond to this individual's constant negativity and in particular, personal attacks. In response to a a change of ability to view, I have chosen to become involved as a participant as I couldn't remain a voyeur! Did not understand that my role as a member of the forum was to stand by and allow negativity to go unchallenged. Know my place now! Thirdly, isn't there a history of problems when good men and women do nothing even though they know its wrong? Are you falling into the trap CD?
  14. The Brewster (or is it just everyone at the club?) haters just can't help themselves. We get a promising young lad, who wants to come here, in on a three year deal after a long pursuit. But hey, lets just focus on any weakness we have and forget the good news. Said elsewhere it is wrong to assume that "absolutely no effort being made to address the problem", either that or delight in the chance to slag those involved for being unsuccessful. In your case I've no doubt that the opportunity to slag gives far more pleasure than the chance to either praise or accept that despite best efforts, nothing has been delivered as yet. I'm hoping for a right good season. You carry on praying for failure and the chance to give folk a right good slagging!

    Hello! I'm new.

    Teaching today eh Charles?
  16. Always had you down for a closet beach volleyball fan. I too share this passion for the game, first viewing it when hammered on a beach in Lanzarote. The costumes then were less aimed at containing the athletic body and more targeted at holding in assets. Enjoyable in both formats. Ranks considerably higher up the pecking order than watching two guys making themselves sick whilst lunging into a pool 30ft up in the air. How do you mark that?
  17. I still have a peice of the light blue shirt with black polka dots that he threw into the crowd that night! Stashed safely at my parents hoose in the box of things to keep from youth. Magic night! Also had tickets for The Clash for the gig that never was due to Strummer doing a disappearing act. He was finally in Culrain up the back of Ardgay with some distant relative getting pished and fishing. Proper rock stars then .......40 drams in the Lady Ross and carried home. As Frankie Boyle says of the modern "binge drinking" fad ......"In our day we just used to call it drinking!"
  18. Deja vu for me I'm afraid! Any ****** with a third rate English league club who can spell Scotland gets a look in. Don't care who they are or how good I draw the line when qualification means a fortnights holiday in Embo with your Auntie Jessie. I'd rather play and lose with Highland League boys.
  19. I reckon when it's time for the court case he'll have a top notch QC costing a packet (Donald Finlay maybe), turn up at the start looking very confident pre case, look like a rabbit caught in headlights for most of the hearing, disappear for long spells and turn up at the end as the sentence aka glory is being handed out. The bill will be enormous, the fine loose change and he will disappear into the sunset! This scenario was played out in several locations throughout Scotland last year. My only worry is where he will leave his car parked!
  20. I don't want a replacement Niculae. It would be much better to sign someone who ends the season with a decent tally of SPL goals, joins in with the team work ethic and doesn't cost a fortune. Ideally someone worth the adulation, worship, hero status and cash they received!
  21. Share your worries but don't believe for a second that CB doesn't recognise the problem. With decent activity elsewhere on the trial/transfer front it could be that he isn't haven't much joy and for once anything we are trying to do is being kept quite! You can dream eh..............?
  22. Not sure about Lionel but I've been told by one of the young lads in the set up that Lee Mair described playing against Gary Wood and Big Rory as - "playing against two Craig Brewsters!". Big compliment to the guys if that is the case. Appreciate it's only reserve football but with the strength of line up they played against it bodes well for the future. Never doubted that Wood has the potential to make the step up but from a personal viewpoint I would love it if McAllister could prove once and for all his ability and willingness to learn. Here's hoping!
  23. Nice to see CB get some praise even if I sense some of it is pretty grudged! Slightly off topic but me thinks the vast majority his signings in his career have been pretty decent in both his spells with us at at Grocers Utd. Dargo, Imrie and the promising Barrowman when he had time in the market and even with a tight deadline he managed to get Maguire and a second goalie (okay I know!) in to bolster the squad. At Utd Kalvenes and Hunt were big successes with Wilkie (torture last night!) being decent for free. Robb, Conway and Proctor didn't set the heater on fire but didn't cost a fortune either. The Grocer hasn't mentioned the profit he made on Hunt thanks to CB nor the fact that he wasn't willing to part with ?100k for a keeper who now hold the first team jersey at Ibrox and is being tracked by a few English teams with big money being mentioned. It will be interesting to see how the media's darling Mr Levein gets on without Kalvenes and Hunt. Still think CB has a lot to learn but I have faith and will back him, his decisions and the team at all times.
