I'm sure all the managers interested will have applied by now. I know we'll never get to see the list of applicants but I'd imagine there would be nearly 100. A big job this week for the chairman to whittle it down to a short-list. Then the actual interviews - sometimes some of these are conducted outwith Inverness. Probably 2nd interviews too. Certainly, the new man won't be in place for the St. Johnstone game...and possibly not even the cup game with Morton the week after.

Oh the days! Wilson evading Clark with Stevenson looking on!

Yeah, no question it's 1984 Caley 0-6 Rangers. Despite being a Jaggie, I was at the game that day in the stand. Incredible to think that now neither club exist!

BILLY PLAYING AGAINST TURKEY - XMAS BONUS
Sneckboy replied to CELTIC1CALEY3's topic in Caley Thistle
On the wing? That would be a sage move! From there, he could give teams a right good stuffing! If we deployed him effectively against the team from Perth, we could say he was our St Johns(tin-foil). A good replacement for Butcher (unintended pun) would be the old wise head of Jimmy Bone...We just need to pluck up the courage to make him the beak. I really wish-Bone was here! That last one was truly offal... -
Enjoyed reading your in-depth post, Bauhaus. But since it's Sunday, can I be pedantic? The SPFL is not the new name for the SPL. It's now called the Premiership. All 42 Scottish League clubs play in the SPFL - but in their respective divisions. (Premiership, Championship, League One, League Two). The media are often 'guilty' of this e.g. Is it too soon for Paul Hartley to be considered for a managerial post in the SPFL? Well, no, because he's already managing there! I amn't a great fan of the new naming system although starting to get used to it. However, they could have used a bit more imagination if they didn't want to call them simply Division 1..Division 2...etc. Scottish Championship, Caledonia League, Alba Alliance, Cairngorm Conference?!

Simon King did actually play! Admittedly only 5 games but was a starter in them all. Only on the losing side once, against Celtic.

Saturday 16th November Championship Bryan Prunty (Livingston 1-3 Dumbarton) League One Craig Dargo (Airdrieonians 0-3 Dunfermline Athletic) Highland League Darren Mackie TWO GOALS (Turriff United 7-0 Lossiemouth) Lewis MacKinnon TWO GOALS (Clachnacuddin 0-3 Buckie Thistle) Martin Bavidge (Inverurie Loco Works 3-1 Keith) Stuart Leslie (Nairn County 4-1 Wick Academy) Owain Tudur Jones got his 7th cap for Wales today coming on as a sub. OTJ and the world’s most expensive player, Gareth Bale in the same team!

I think it was 1984 that game v. Rangers. The goalkeeper strongly resembles the lanky giant, Peter McCloy who was in goals for Rangers that day. The only other players 'identifiable' to me are no.4 John McClellend and no.10, a young Ally McCoist. The Caley no.7 could be Martin Lisle. (When Caley played St Johnstone the no.7 that day was wee Colin Mitchell - that's doesn't resemble him!)

From nowhere, a new favourite with Paddy Power - Chris Sutton!! Stan James has Kenny Shiels as favourite! ...and the other bookie offering odds on this is Bet Victor who have Craig Levein as favourite! Conclusion: It's wide open and nobody has clue!

Great photos. As an ex-Jaggie I appreciate seeing those as most of them are new to me! Regarding the first photo from 1950 - I don't know any of the names - a bit before my time - my first trip to Kingsmills was 1982. Tichy Black's era! However there's a team-photo on invernessthistle.co.uk in the gallery from 1951 with names included. You'll be aware of that already, I'm sure! Do you know what happened to the similarly named website invernessthistlefc.co.uk ? It's not accessible any longer. Simply an expiry of the domain name or something? At least there's still one designated Inverness Thistle website available! It's important to preserve the history. I spoke to a young ICT fan at a game a few years ago and he didn't realise that his team was the amalgamation of two former sides from the town...I kid you not! He obviously doesn't read this forum!

Filipe Morais scored for Stevenage last night (Stevenage 3-2 Orient)

John Hartson has crashed into '4th place' from nowhere in the betting at 8/1 - there are always surprise names! He's just quit as assistant manager of Wales to 'spend more time with the family'...allegedly!
-
That's easy to say after the event. You would have been revelling in your own perceived wisdom had Butcher failed to reach personal terms with Hibs and ended-up staying here with Inverness. I doubt we'd ever have heard the end of it... However, did you not stake either £50 or £100 on Terry staying?! You set yourself up for a no-lose situation!....Yes, the genius wins, or...OMG I obviously wasn't being serious!
-
I have no idea of his motives. It's taken the wind out of my sails. There's a possibility he's after the Ibrox job which may become vacant In 2 years...When McCoist fails to make an impression in the Premiership. By then, Butcher will have likely improved Hibs. He may be using them as a stepping stone back to Govan.

He (Levein) remains the bookies favourite but is drifting in the odds. I think he'd be a satisfactory choice although not my favourite. He spoke a lot of unrealistic nonsense about our World Cup qualification chances when managing the Scotland team. In a horrendous group with Belgium. Macedonia, Serbia, Wales and Croatia he thought it wise to state that, not only would we top the group and qualify, but that we would win all 10 games!!! And this tripe from the man who feels it viable to go for a 4-6-0 formation! I disliked him as a Scotland boss - he's a Glasgow media darling whose reputation far outdoes his ability. But he's undeniably a high profile candidate and will certainly be short-listed for the job - probably interviewed, but not a certainty to get it.... Jimmy Calderwood for me.

You're correct - well, partly. It was a one year deal. Will update the chart accordingly! But you were wholly wrong. Yes I was. One small oversight in a database of 32 players - it's a fluid chart and will need constant updating, not necessarily by me. What you got 'wholly wrong' was your insistence that Butcher was staying! Too much time on photoshop I reckon, IHE, looking for the next cheap caption for your fan-club to salivate over.

It takes a man this mad to leave Loch Ness for Leith Meth...

Foran's odds keep getting shorter! There must be money going on him! 2nd Favourite at this time - but it's changing as punters show their cash! Levein not as clear favourite as he was initially.
-
Abriachan?!
-
Yeah, it's been corrected on the website to 2-and-a-half years. Hopefully will be the first of a few extended contracts getting signed!
-
That's a real tonic! Great news and a mark of intent. The report says he'll be here until end of season 2016 but the chairman is quoted as saying a 3-and-a half year deal....but that would take him up to summer 2017? I think it's more likely 2016. That makes Brill and Doran two long-term deals sorted-out.
