  1. I remember being at Millburn when Darren MacLean was transferred from Inverness Thistle to Liverpool in the mid-80's. I seem to have a vague recollection of there being TV crews set up for interview in the gym...or maybe I'm confusing the time Radio 1 did an outside broadcast from the school. Anyway, I digress! He moved to Merseyside for around £30,000 IIRC. A huge amount of money in those days especially for a Highland League outfit. I wonder what the club did with that windfall? Did it all go on appointing Jim Leishman and putting him up in the Kingsmills Hotel!
  2. "The Courier gates must remain OPEN - that's the bottom line!"
  3. Congratulations to Davie Balfour for this initiative, demonstrating how effective and proactive CJT are proving to be. Chartering trains to run between Inverness and Glasgow must be a logistical headache so very well done to all involved.
  4. I think you're getting mixed up with the traditions of the Scottish Cup final.
  5. Nothing to be 'hacked off' about, rebelwithoutaclue! I'm assuming you're a troll given it's your first post and the time posted. This is our best season ever - a first final awaits - that can't be disputed. But your comment on Aberdeen can't go unchallenged...I fail to see a massive increase in their support! The proportion of their fans likely to attend the final is the same as ours...ie approx. two-and-a-half-times their average home gate.

  7. Hearts obviously down but 2nd-bottom's still wide open. But I think the team who does finish 2nd-bottom will retain still their place over a two-legged play-off.
  8. Draper's ban for the quarter-final shouldn't be a major obstacle. Plenty options to compensate.
  9. An okay turnout considering the weather and the Champions League competing on TV or in the pub! Cup attendances don't count towards clubs' published 'official' home average gates - so no damage done.
  10. Excellent summary. I'd forgotten about the scoring sequence Stranraer were on! A good achievement for them during which they drew 1-1 at Ibrox. They're no mugs and could well make the play-offs from League One. 'A workmanlike performance' is a bit of a football cliché, but that's what it was tonight. We're really in a great position on all three fronts heading into the business end of the season.
  11. I'll go for an optimistic 1300. Please god, don't let it drop below 1000. We'd get crucified if, in our current situation, played a home match in front of 'hundreds'!
  12. Yeah, the goals have dried up a bit for us in the league, of late. Since the Aberdeen game, where we memorably scored 3 times in the 2nd half, we've only netted another 3 in the subsequent 7 games. Maybe we rely on Billy too much - and he was realistically going to hit a barren spell. It's hard to believe but we're now only 8th top scorers in the league with even County having plundered more than us! Despite that, I feel we'll soon give a team a good pasting, as when we 'click', we're more than capable of notching 3 or 4.
  13. Premiership John Rankin (Dundee United 3-2 Kilmarnock) Adam Rooney (penalty) (St. Mirren 0-1 Aberdeen) League One OWN GOAL! Darren Dods (Forfar Athletic 2-4 Dunfermline Athletic) League Two Dennis Wyness (Berwick Rangers 2-3 Elgin City) Highland League Kyle Whyte TWO GOALS (Rothes 2-4 Clachnacuddin) Zander Sutherland TWO GOALS (Inverurie Loco Works 1-2 Brora Rangers) Northern Irish Premiership Curtis Allen (Ards 2-1 Glentoran)
  14. Current situation following Vincent's contract extension: Signed up until the end of season 2016-17: • Richie Foran Signed up until the end of season 2015-16: • John Hughes - Manager • Russell Latapy - Assistant Manager • Aaron Doran • Carl Tremarco • Danny Williams • Dean Brill • Ryan Esson • James Vincent Signed up until the end of next season (2014-15): • Greg Tansey • Daniel Devine • Graeme Shinnie • Nick Ross • Marley Watkins • Gary Warren • David Raven • Josh Meekings • Billy McKay • Ryan Christie • Liam Polworth Signed up until the end of this season (2013-14): • Jason Brown • Joe Gorman • Cammy Mackay • Matt Cooper • Ali Sutherland • Conor Pepper • Calum Howarth • Jay Cheyne • Ben Greenhalgh • Nick Draper • Calum Ferguson (On loan at Montrose until end of this season) • Ross Draper • Adam Evans
  15. English League Two Sam Winnall (Accrington Stanley 2-3 Scunthorpe United)
  16. 1m x 70cm for a surfer flag! That could blow away! Blimey, some of our fans' underwear is bigger than that! Just joking! I know what you're meaning....a ratio of 10:7. Good work 12th Man.
  17. We'll probably be outnumbered 3-1 ! Hopefully 10,000 of us v. likely 30,000 of them!
  18. I wonder if Oddquine's been to bed yet!?
  19. Ah, I see...got you now.
  20. But you've very much 'fixed it' with 4 changes to the last team (dropping Warren, Shinnie, Meekings and Raven) and putting Shinnie I at right back and Draper to centre back! In fact your whole defencive line sees no players playing in the same position as the last game!
  21. Scotty wins with his correct answer!!!
  22. I agree. Talk of the semi-finals at this stage is premature. Some have gone further suggesting the Final and even winning it! Nothing wrong with optimism, but we're only at the last 16 stage and I'd be happy with a 1-0 win against Stranraer. Then we can look forward to the game against Dundee United.
  23. Looking ahead to the League Cup Final and Aberdeen likely fielding 3 of our ex-players...got me wondering which is the most common previous-club-played-for within our squad. There are 8 teams which 2 of our squad have played for. Carl Tremarco seems to be the 'common-denominator'! So, the question is: Which 4 of our squad have played for any of Carl Tremarco's former clubs? Can you name the players and clubs!
  24. From ICT Twitter, the team was, Cammy Mackay Connor Pepper Jason Brown Richie Foran Calum Howarth Liam Polworth Ali Sutherland Danny Williams Ryan Christie Adam Evans Ben Greenhalgh
  25. Even with the reduced admission prices for the Stranraer game, I doubt we'll see a big crowd, Scarlet. As a gauge, we had 2,100 for our midweek League Cup quarter-final against Dundee United. Stranraer won't take many fans anyway, let alone a Tuesday night, so I'd estimate we'll have around 1,700. And as it's probably the only Scottish game that night, it'll be noticed and we'll get roundly slated by the media. I can see it coming!
