  1. Surely every single Trust meeting is the same though? The way this meeting has been publicised and the fact that the Trust have specifically made clear their desire for shareholders to attend could give rise to the idea that the Trust didn't like what they heard in their meeting with the Chairman so are looking to strengthen their hand in terms of pulling in more small shareholders who aren't currently members. I don't think that more small, individual shareholders joining the Trust is a bad thing at all but if the Trust wanted to provide a forum for the supporters to air grievences they could have done this easily. I don't think it helps the case and can understand why the Board who, as pointed out, encouraged the development of the Trust and hold regular meetings with it's representatives. A cynic might suggest it seems the Trust are taking the opportunity of a worrying slump in form to try and drum up publicity and extend their membership. Also, presumably the Trust representative asked George Fraser if they were going to sack Brewster, Fraser said no so now we have this meeting. What will tonights meeting achieve beyond that? Did the Trust think the BoD were going to write up a P45 on their say-so? No club in Britain would function like that.
  2. The Supporters Trust exists to encourage fans, specifically small shareholders, to have more of a voice in the running of the club. That's a good thing - I don't think anyone could disagree with that. However, should they be taking specific stances like this? It seems that the Trust representatives, representing as they do a group of shareholders, went to an informal meeting with George Fraser to discuss current results. They didn't like what they heard so have called a public meeting for all shareholders to discuss the situation further. What is this meeting to discuss? If it is to discuss the managership of Craig Brewster then surely it should be an open meeting, for all supporters, rather than a meeting for shareholders? I can see why members of the board might be irked that a shareholding grouping are holding an unofficial shareholder meeting to discuss the employment of the clubs manager. It seems as though the Trust could be construed as trying to engineer a shareholder 'rebellion'. I don't think that is the case but I find it strange that the Trust couldn't call a meeting for all supporters to air their concerns and put differing viewpoints forward.
  3. Vigurs and McBain did well. Didn't think much of Barrowman, but I never do. I'd start with Rooney, he is the biggest threat we have. Wood is a good target man but Rooney always looks lively. Ross Tokely was absolutely dire today, abysmal. He should be dropped for a performance like that, awful.
  4. One of them should change their name.
  5. I think Steven Pressley is over-rated as a player. He was murder for Celtic when he played there - remember him in the 3-2 game last December? Having said that our defence is risible at the moment, he's not going to make it any worse.
  6. Precisely. We have only drawn two matches in the league this season. Before last season we were generally a difficult side to beat in the SPL and if we didn't play well we had the grit to pull out a point. See below: 04/05 - 11 draws 05/06 - 13 draws 06/07 - 13 draws 07/08 - 4 draws 08/09 - 2 draws We are currently on a poor run, which we have had before in the SPL. However, in previous poor runs we have managed to pick up points - in between October and December 2006 we went nine matches without a win, but still managed four draws. Contrast this to the run between January and April last season where we went eleven games without a win and only managed two draws (which preceded seven straight losses). Ever since the departure of Darren Dods we haven't been as solid at the back and thsi has lead to us racking up these losing streaks when we are in poor form.
  7. What is this meeting going to discuss? It sounds as though everyone is going to get together at Fairways and agree that they want Brewster sacked.
  8. Jim Duffy is a dreadful manager. How many times has been relegated?
  9. One argument often used against Brewster was that he failed at Dundee utd. John Robertson has failed at Hearts, Livingston and Derry City. The Ross County fans weren't enamoured with him but he was only there a few months. I also recall that fans would regularly complain about the **** football we played under Robbo, despite us winning the league etc. To be honest, I'd rather have him back most of the names on this thread. Kevin MacDonald would be a great appointment but is he not assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland? Might not fancy giving up two jobs to take one, especially one that could end with us in real relegation trouble.
  10. By my reckoning, these are the sides we could get in the draw: Airdrie Utd Queens Park Stenhousemuir Clyde East Fife East Stirling Peterhead Raith Alloa Ross County Dumbarton Partick Lochee United Ayr United Stranraer Forfar Inverurie Locos Vale of Leithen Edinburgh City Brechin City Elgin City Spartans Forres Mechanics Dalbeattie Star Celtic Rangers Hearts Dundee Utd Aberdeen Hibernian Kilmarnock Falkirk Motherwell Hamilton St Mirren St Johnstone Dundee Queen of the South Dunfermline Atheltic I have emboldened the teams I'd like to draw. I'd prefer an away draw, seeing as how we can't win at home.
  11. I don't think there are any footballers on teh lsit. There are a couple of people who have the same names as some footballers but I'd say the odds on either player being in the BNP are sky high.
  12. Here's how I think we should line up: ----------------------Esson----------------------- --Tokely-----Proctor------Munro-----Hastings--- ---Cowie-----Duncan----Black------Imrie------ ---------------Rooney-------Wood----------------- I'd go with 4-4-2 at home and switch Cowie and Imrie back over from recent games. I'm not subscribing to the bizarre obsession with which wing they play, but with two up front you don't need you're wide players coming inside as much. Also, Rooney and Wood are pretty good in the air and could benefit from some crosses. With regret I'll pull Vigurs out of the midfield as I think that Duncan has done really well this season and Black is a sure start. Defensively Proctor is quicker than our other options at the back and this could be important, especially if Nade has shaped up. Rooney and Wood have been our two bst performing forwards this season. What's important is that we get a really positive, hard-working performance from all our players. Withdrawing an extra man from the middle will mean a bit of extra responsibility for Imrie and Cowie to muck in and win their battles. Imrie showed superb work-rate against Celtic and another performance as tenacious as that is overdue. Hearts have usually played with five in the middle so we'll need to win that battle.
  13. Beeb has Barrowman getting the assist for the goal.
  14. Less than 1% of ther Celtic fans walked out. An equivelent number in our usual home crowd would be two people.
  15. The Under 21 squad is a complete mystery. Remember when Jamie McCunnie spent about three years in every squad, despite being laughably pish at the tinks? I don't like criticising our own young kids but Rory has probably been in a few more squads than he deserves. Certainly, I think Wood has done more in his ten or so first team outings this season than Rory has in the previous four campaigns.
  16. Wood is great at the lone striker role. He wins headers, runs the channels and holds the ball up well. He did better against Jones and Hogg than any other Caley centre-forward for the past three or four visits to Easter Road. His unselfish display was extremely promising and if he carries on like that (and adds a few goals) he could be a real find. Suggestion for a Garry Wood song: Garry! Garry Wood! Garry! Garry Wood! etc
  17. One of the worst managers ever. Remember his formation at Spurs, was it five or six strikers they played? If you read other teams forums or P&B you see that every current manager in the SPL, except Levein and Laszlo, has fans who want them out. Maybe Billy Reid as well. Falkirk fans periodically bay for Yogi's blood, it's only reall the last six months or so that the calls for him to go have abated. Earlier this season St Mirren fans were after McPherson for negative football and pish results, Killie fans a few seasons ago started one of those online petitions to get Jeffries sacked, Hibs fans were calling in large numbers for Mixu to go during this pre-season and Aberdeen fans seem to hate Calderwood with a passion, despite them having reached the top six for three seasons in a row and progressed in Europe last time out. Lots of football fans are complete muppets and the internet, phone-ins etc gives them a voice. The fact that a significant proportion of Celtic fans hate Gordon Strachan despite him winning three titles in a row and getting the team further in the Champions League than ever before all on a smaller budget than his predecessor says it all.
  18. First goal yesterday - Ball over the top from Dougie Imrie (on the right) finished by Don Cowie (on the left). Second goal yesterday - Breakaway by Dougie Imrie (down the right) played through for Black to finish.
  19. Great stuff today. I thought we sat a bit deep to start with but the midfield trio took control and our counter attacking was brilliant. The first goal came from an almighty **** up from Makalamby but it was a decent finish from Cowie. Second goal superb break from us, Imrie carrying the ball forward, laying it through to Black who composed himself and finished like a dream. Great celebration, Klinsmann in front of the fans. All through the second half we were breaking dangerously, Imrie and Cowie were great at this. Wood is such a willing worker, he did better against Hogg and Jones than any other of our forwards at Easter Road in years. Esson was solid, a really good save at the penalty. He was raging when Riorden scored at the end, obviously wanted the clean sheet. Fantastic stuff. Match report on the way.
  20. Beaten too it. Off to the match, report should be up just after five. Come on Caley
  21. radio Scotland confirms that Esson comes in for Fraser. Let's hope this goes better than the last time we dropped Fraser.
