  1. We couldn't when Butcher looked at signing him a couple of seasons ago (I think).
  2. It wasn't a back three. It was Meekings-Draper-Tremarco-Shinnie in the second half. Ooops, I hadn't realised that Shinnie had dropped back, although I did think that one fantastic saving tackle by Tremarco was wildly out of position for a left back, brilliant as it was! IMO centre-back is Tremarco's best position. I like a couple of others am starting to get concerns over Hughes's philosophy for the coming season. I remember when he got the job, he said words to the effect of "Go out there and express yourself", well that's not what's happening. There seems to be parts of the game now, where certain things are banned. Crossfield balls, crosses into the box and long distance shots seemed to be banned. We keep trying to score a goal that's a pass into the net. That worries me.

  4. Do you think Ross County had all these arguments twenty years after their merger?
  5. Enrique Pia - Colombian centre-back on trial in 2008 around the same time as Daniel Wagaluka. He'd previously played in Venezuela and deemed not big and dominant enough by Brewster.
  6. Seemingly after Atiku's deal with us fell through, he played in Sweden and then Greece (he turned down a three year deal at his previous club in Cyprus to go on trial with us) and was called up to the Ghana national team in 2011 before the match got cancelled due to the London riots! Apparently, he later signed for Swindon leaving before ever playing a game and has never played since. He was also once on trial with Michael Essien at Man United after good performances in the U17 World Cup in New Zealand but the contract offer fell through after work permit issues. He was also on trial at Borussia Dortmund at one time and was regarded as the next big Ghanian player but it never came to be.
  7. I wonder if the plan is to go a back three. At the last game of the season, Hughes seemed to take a leaf out of the Guardiola/Bielsa book and put Draper at the back as a kind of ball playing centre-back. I'm can't remember where I read it, but I'm sure I read somewhere once that it's easier to retain possession with three at the back than with four. As we've seen at the world cup, a back three or a back five with wing-backs seems to be coming back into style (Chile, Argentina, Netherlands, Costa Rica, Mexico have all done it at some point as well as probably others). As others have said though, we don't need another centre-back. Warren, Meekings, Devine are all strong capable centre-backs and Meekings is a good distributor in my opinion. Tremarco also played well there in one game and Raven, Draper and even Foran could all fill in there if needed, as could Jason Brown. Shinnie could probably do a job in there as well. A new right back would be nice, but by no means essential. Raven is obviously the first choice and Meekings and Shinnie are capable in there as well. Warren can also play there and Devine could get away with it if we really needed to (he did have a shocker there against St Johnstone in the 4-0 game though). Seemingly, James Vincent can also fill in there in emergencies and Tremarco could probably get away with it as well. If we can, we should use whatever funds we have to bring in another striker - I think everyone's in agreement on that and after that, using it to retain members of the current squad. A right back would be nice, but not essential and a new centre-back is not needed at all, though if Hughes can get one for little money on loan, then that's not so bad.
  8. There was a big discussion about it prior to the last semi-final and in the end we didn't need to. Brill staying in for the shootout for the Aberdeen game was also fair enough. I was calling for it though during the extra time of the one we lost. Reguero was terrible with penalties, everyone knew that and having Esson (a man who we've never lost a shootout with us) put in would have given us a far better chance. I do remember some people being against making the switch, one person saying that Reguero "would be within his rights to get back on a plane back to Spain post-match" .......which of course in the end, is pretty much what he did. I reckon we'd have won the game had we made a switch and probably have won the cup.
  9. Forgot to say, I thought Tremarco played well. The trialist was alright; fairly skillful, but clearly lacking fitness.
  10. Kane Hull is a great name! Also, is Hayden Hollinger still with us? Sounds like someone who should be one of Justin Bieber's back-up dancers!
  11. Hope the seagulls get him before I do!
  12. I hope it isn't there on matchdays. Oh and by the way, I already do put a lot of effort in getting behind the club - I missed all but two games last season.
  13. Nessie the Monster is at least identifiable to the local area. ICat was rubbish by the way. Why do we need to have a sponsors mascot anyway? Why didn't we have a dancing oil rig for Orion? Or a big plane for Flybe? Or how about a big dancing videotape player for when we had Sharp? A sandwich is cringeworthy IMO.
  14. I don't have a problem with having the name of a company on the kit, but having that big sandwich mascot walking around pitchside at every game would be an embarrassment IMO.
  15. I see Dundee have released a drawing of their new jersey. Why can't we do that?
  16. Not the initials I was thinking of, but here's a picture of the man in question!
  17. I see Birmingham, Dunfermline and ICT flop Andrew Barrowman has returned to his natural level by signing for Greenock Morton.
  18. I hope it's not seem troublemaking vagabond like Garry O'Connor or Derek Riordan!
  19. Not sure we have copyright to Caledonian Thistle now that we've stuck Inverness in front of it. Besides rather than boo them perhaps we should get 12th man to persuade them to come support their namesakes. I'd rather they supported their local team to be honest. Accies are a smaller club like us and need the support.
  20. Pinilla did play against ICT in a match we lost 4-1 at Tynecastle in 2006 (Graham Bayne scored our goal). He never played at the Caley Stadium though.
  21. What's the deal with the goalkeeper kits next season? Are they doing to stay the same (albeit with Subway stuck on them)? Also, would we not save money having Dean Brill use the black away kit instead of a separate black goalie jersey? Hibs used to do this.
  22. Blackman was a good player, but a total ned by the sounds of things.
  23. There already is a hot dog vendor thing in the ground....isn't there?
  24. Why's the Fort William game down as a U20 match? Seems a bit short notice to stick another first team game on that date. Seemingly neither ourselves or County are playing Brora this year because they're upgrading their ground to make it Division 3 compatible.
  25. He played for Shrewsbury at one point and I think was playing for Bath City before coming to us. Nowhere seems to suggest he's signed for anywhere since. Wonder if his football career is over.
