Dougal's like a joke that isn't funny anymore.
-
Why should what Obama wants be the end of the debate? He doesn't actually endorse either side either and regardless the debate will go on.
-
Just for the record, as a man I never liked him.

How are people who aren't supporting England bigots? No-one cares what Salmond said by the way and your constant attacks on other posters and all round superior attitude is tiresome, arrogant and ignorant. Good neighbours by the way? We aren't the ones going around calling people bigots!
-
Are you aware that Hibs have just been relegated? Maybe if you think he's so good you can back it up with what he's down elsewhere as well, or are you just going to throw around petty insults as usual?
-
You tell that to fans of Sydney, Brentford and Hibs. Aside from us, a decent run at Motherwell after they avoided relegation by a technicality and doing alright at Coventry years ago, his record stinks.

That vote's a farce. For a start, the girl interviewed is 14 and not old enough to vote and also many of these school votes are the whole school, not just those eligible to vote. The article's from September last year as well, so it's hardly relevant anymore.

'Bigots' is awfully strong isn't it?! I think you'll find that most Scottish people view the Scotland/England rivalry as a bit of sporting banter, there's no real hatred or bitterness towards the ordinary English person, rather annoyance towards the "England are great" and this "Big Daddy England are going to win it" attitude that seems to permeate the media at these times and delight in seeing their closest rivals smug dreams tarnished yet again. You might also find a large amount of Scots couldn't give two hoots whether England win or lose and others may be supporting another country due to links with them. Many Scots will have lived in Australia or America or on the continent for example. Why should they support England, just because they happen to from the country next door when they have a much stronger connection with another nation? What I do find irritating though is your constant "Big Daddy England" attitude, as if we little Scottish people are inferior to you. Claiming that Scottish people should support England, just because we live near-by, is arrogant and ignorant in the extreme.

Don't think we need another defender really. Gunning would probably command a high wage as well.
-
If we still have that link with Arsenal, could we not get their reserve team up or something?
-
It'd be interesting to know what the average wage at ICT is. Presume it'd be around £700 a week-ish?
-
According to Football Manager, Mckay eligible for Scotland as well. Presume that comes from his parents. He is from Corby after all.

Some of those players would be rather out of our budget I'm afraid and I wouldn't touch El Hadji Diouf with a ten foot pole! We should sign the other Danny Devine though, just for the giggles!

Thank goodness some of the people from earlier in this thread aren't scouts after some of the gushing praise over two minutes of footage! One person's "lost for words", another claims he's "amazing"! Holy moly!

I've often been very skeptical over the standard of the Scottish game compared to the English tiers. I know it was only a friendly, but I saw ICT play Charlton in the summer and I thought Charlton were rubbish. Even more so when you consider that the Charlton players were probably on about fives time what our players are on a week. I know Coventry are in disarray at the moment, but thought when we played them, they were hopeless too. The day we beat Charlton, Dundee United beat Wigan. We matched Real Valladolid at the stadium as well and they'd just been relegated from La Liga. Obviously the English Premier League is one of the elite leagues in the world and a far higher standard than ours, but I'm unconvinced that we're that far behind the Championship, if at all. I can't remember where I read it, but I'm sure I read once that there was a study done to find which was the most entertaining league in Europe and the English Premier League finished last, after all world class players can still he held in a bore draw. While the standard is not spectacular, I think what you get here is not bad at all entertainment-wise and the standard doesn't need to be high to see an exciting game.

I'm not asking the club anything. As many people will remember, I was always rather skeptical of Butcher's managerial ability and I was quite excited when he left. I've just always wondered about these things and would like to know what happened.
-
So we should never mention the past ever again? Tell that to the people who mention February 8th 2000 once a month. There must be some people on here who know these things and have their own questions. I myself know a few things myself as alluded to on the other thread and elsewhere and would like to know what went on.

I used to think McPake was alright as well. Seemingly he's been rotten for Hibs though!
-
Rob McLean eh? High praise indeed. Who next? The Dalai Lama?!

Ever wanted to know what really happened during his time as manager? Here's the thread to have your questions answered! I know there's a "Butcherwatch" thread elsewhere, but I think it'd be good to have focusing on his time as ICT manager, where we can find out for ourselves what really went on. So here are my questions: How many managerial jobs did Butcher apply for while he was here? He always used to go on about his love for the club and the area, but I always thought that was just bluff. I've heard rumours in the past that he applied for quite a few jobs when he was here, but how many did he actually apply for. I've heard he applied for the Falkirk job just after we were relegated and Yogi went to Hibs, as well as Motherwell, Aberdeen and Hibs a time before, but not Barnsley. Any truth in these rumours and was there any others he wanted? Also, prior to our relegation, rumours went round that Butcher had been involved in a training ground bust up with Ryan Esson. This of course led to us going into the last few pivotal matches with Esson not getting his place back after suspension (he was sent off in a 4-0 defeat at Falkirk you may remember) and eventually going into that relegation decider with Falkirk with Michael Fraser in goal, a far inferior keeper to Esson, who was already leaving anyway (he had signed a pre-contract with Motherwell). What really happened between Butcher and Esson and how much did Butcher's ego thus play in our relegation?

I thought in many ways that it was fitting that Butcher left ICT under a cloud. He left loathed and ridiculed and that's all he deserved for his treatment of Russell Duncan, Grant Munro and Ross Tokely. His treatment of them was nothing short of disgraceful. I've alluded to this before, but Butcher's way of offloading Tokely was petty and bitter. As I said on here in 2011, Butcher wanted Tokely gone with Munro and Duncan. I heard this from a couple of sources, one of which was from the inside. The only reason Tokely lasted one season longer was because of a clause in his contract that meant he got a years extension after playing X amount of matches. After the backlash from the fans over the Munro/Duncan debacle, Butcher offered Tokely a deal he knew he would turn down, so that "officially" the choice to leave was his. That deal was 50% of his current contract, though I have heard rumours from elsewhere that the deal was even more than that, somewhere in the region of £300 per week. Remember, Tokely (without revealing the figures) referred to the offer as an insult. That was the reason why. It's also interesting to note what happened when I leaked this information on here. Many totally dismissed it at the time and even when Tokely did go (for the reasons I stated), I was mocked and had my credibility attacked. This was of course, from posters who believed everything Butcher said and believed he could walk on water. Wonder if they feel that way now? While I wish no ill will on Hibernian or their supporters, I'm pleased to see Butcher's image tarnished. The way he treated this club, it's fans and it's players was nothing short of a disgrace. He is a classless and disloyal manager, who thought he was not only too big for ICT, but for the Highlands in general. Nothing better than the sweet taste of schadenfreude. The chickens have come home to roost.

Germany didn't have one at one point. In-fact, I think the first Berlin derby between Hertha Berlin and Union Berlin in X amount of years/ever, was in Bundesliga 2.
-
What about Liam Craig or Paul Heffernan? Ben Williams is usually pretty good as well, but we don't need another keeper.
-
Dunno, hopefully we have another semi-final there! Not a play-off though!
-
Did he get Motherwell relegated? He finished bottom in his first season, but they weren't relegated because Brockville didn't have enough seats for Falkirk to come up.
