Greg Tansey
Who was the poster on here who said he could pick a pass just as good as Xavi? I mean WHAT?! Also, par a couple of good performances (one of which was away to Dunfermline IIRC), he did essentially nothing for whole stretches of the season he was with us. He was billed as this great playmaker and free kick taker, but he really wasn't. Going by the Stevenage fans comments sounds like very little has changed, one of which describes him leaving as a dream come true! I hope he's improved and I wish him well, but the way some people are going on about him, you'd think it was Messi we'd signed!

Stevenage are reporting that it is a free transfer.

Presume he'll take the number 16 jersey. We never seem to have a number 13 (bar McAllister) for some reason (which is pretty petty IMO).

Greg Tansey
ICT have just announced that Tansey has re-joined the club on an 18-month deal. Seemingly there some agreement with Stevenage to release him for his contract. I hope he's as good as he thinks he is this time round and has stopped the headless chicken routine. As you can tell, I never really rated him from his last spell! At least his neck won't be sore from watching the ball flying high over his head this time round!

Contract Situation
I see in his latest interview, Hughes alludes to possibly Pepper getting a new deal. I always liked him and thought he looked good, but I think I'm right in saying he only made on first team appearance in 2013 (the last day in Dingwall). Despite talk that "everyone's" being offered a new deal, particularly Draper and Vincent, there hasn't been much mention of Greenhalgh. Could he be leaving the building?

Strengthen during transfer window?
I see Hibs are after Jason Scotland. Is he any good anymore? Would he come here? Would the fact Latapy is en route influence him to come here?

Strengthen during transfer window?
Seemingly he can play in goal as well!

The "Did I Dream It?" Thread
Is it just me, or has the pitch moved over the years? Myself and a few folk round me in the North Stand were talking about this a while ago, as the goals and the corner flags seem further away than they used to. We weren't sure though if it was or not and it was just our imaginations. Has it moved over the years?

Another ex player help
Could be Jamie Duff. He was fairly young and came through the youth system (an ICT fan as well IIRC), before getting injured in preseason in a match against Clach I think and was out for the season, before then being released. He's at Elgin City now. Guy Kerr went on to play for Montrose and/or East Fife I believe.

The "Did I Dream It?" Thread
Does anyone else remember when Nicky Walker played in goal for us (and for Ross County), whenever we had a corner, he stood way way up the field? I'm talking about in the centre-circle and I'm sure I saw him playing for County once and when they had a corner he was inside the opposition half! Was this really something he used to do, or did I dream it?

James Vincent
You know why Butcher's doing that, it's because Hughes hasn't really seen Vincent play yet apart from in training and has thus probably hasn't offered a new deal to someone he's barely seen play. Butcher knows full well how good he is and trying to get in ahead and have this one wrapped up before we do.

He's casually leaning against the post, essentially in the net, by the time the ball's past him. Did he not realise a corner was about to be taken? If he moves over faster he can at least attempt head to head it out. It used to be Tokely and Butcher that could do no wrong in some people's eyes on here, now they're gone, Ross seems to have taken up the mantle.

Penalty-kick taker?
Maybe it's something to do with the fact that none of his penalties have been well taken. The one against Hibs was poorly taken, with the keeper getting a fairly strong hand on it. The Morton one was much like yesterdays, just the keeper luckily dived the wrong way. Just because the last two went in, doesn't mean they were well taken and continuing with him just so his confidence doesn't suffer, could in the end backfire for both him and the club.

John Hughes
I wonder if the players are now starting to come more used to Hughes' tactics. We all know that Yogi likes players to keep the ball and all that, and in the last few weeks, this amounted to the players, particularly the defenders passing the ball to each other for what seemed like days, before inviting pressure onto the themselves and knocking it back to the goalkeeper to hoof it up the park. Yesterday, there seemed to be a bit more understanding between the players about what they were doing and seemed keener to work the ball forward, as opposed to keeping it for the sake of keeping it. History shows that Caley Thistle, under a number of different managers and with different groups of players, have always been a better team when playing the ball on the deck. If things carry on and improve as they are, the Yogi and Latapy regime might turn-out alright after all.

I've personally never rated Ross's penalty taking ability at all. His last two previously may have gone in, but they weren't exactly well hit. The first against Hibs was very close to being saved and on another day would've been. It was pure luck that the keeper didn't get enough of a hand on it. The Morton one was much like todays, luckily for him the keeper dived the wrong way. Just because they went in, doesn't mean they were well taken, or make him a good taker. I've always had a fear he'll miss, each time he steps up. Should Vincent or Foran not be on the field, I'd like to see Meekings taking them, rifling it hard a la David Luiz at Chelsea. Doran by the way, showed today that he is a right winger and that alone. A better performance from him today, while Williams did seem to grow more into the game as it went on and is clearly more suited to the wing. Despite this, we looked a lot more threatening when Greenhalgh came on and I'd be keen to start him ahead of Williams next week.

Greg Tansey
Is he not big friends with James Vincent? Maybe he's what convinced him to come back (if he does of course).

Greg Tansey?! GREG TANSEY?!!! He was rubbish the last time round! Who next....Odhiambo? Robert Eagle? Richie Byrne?!

The assistant manager thread
Coach at Falkirk, then became assistant before becoming manager of Trinidad and Tobago, and is now assistant manager at Boavista. That's not a bad CV. Certainly looks like there's more to him than just the fact he was a great player, and there's also that flamboyant side to him, which I personally like!

Strengthen during transfer window?
I see Rory Fallon is being released by St Johnstone. There was a time just after the World Cup where I'd have taken him, but he was pretty poor at Aberdeen, before being supposedly horrifically bad in Perth! I wonder if that's who Hughes is talking about.
-
Strengthen during transfer window?
Seemingly Hughes (and Brian Rice), used to go down for matches in England quite regularly themselves looking for players when they were at Falkirk. I wonder if they'll be doing that here? I heard somewhere as well that Hughes was at Tannadice the other day watching our upcoming opposition. I don't remember Butcher or Malpas ever doing that, unless it went unreported of course.
- How's your Spanish?

Danny Williams
I think you'll find that most people are less frustrated about Williams' own ability and are more so on the fact that he's being played out of position and is clearly not suited to it.
