Martin O'Neill? He said when he left, the only reason for his departure was all to do with his wife's medical problems.

Shoot me down in flames if you like.... This is just a suggestion. With TB's ban from the dug-out last night, could his time maybe have been more profitably spent at Dunfermline, taking in their game with Partick? MM seemed to me to be doing a fine job in his place. TB has proved to be a pretty good pundit over the years - he reads a game well, and is good at spotting a team's strengths and weaknesses. As PT obviously played well last night, it might not have been a bad thing to have our main man analysing it all and passing on any useful info to our players. Thoughts?

Agreed... That would make a lot of sense. Actually I have a confession to make : I watch BBC Alba quite often, but only because I'm madly in love with Kathy McDonald. She was a neighbour of mine some years ago in Dunfermline.... :004:

The normal BBC Scotland guys would have been resposible for filming the game. I (watched a recording of the game) thought Queens were very hard done by, with the penalty and the sending off. It might have been interesting to hear what the commentary boys made of that incident, but unfortunately only around 1% of last night's viewers + Sorted's kids were privy to that information! Sadly, I think that this station's days are now numbered. They only achieve respectable viewing figures when they are showing football. Why can't they accept that the vast majority of their football programme viewers understand hardly a word of the Gaelic language, and care even less about promoting it. I think the station might even survive - if they accepted that programmes like live football would have a much greater appeal if the commentaries were broadcast in a language that most of us can understand. They could still have their half-time pundits/summarisers, etc, discuss the game in Gaelic for the benefit of the channel's regular viewers.

Well done, DAM.... Shame you can't come up with anything more constructive than that.

County V Hibs
Yeah.... Well done County.... I hope they go all the way! They are now a more serious threat to our promotion prospects than Dundee are. We all need to pray for a draw for their game with Dundee on Saturday.

Dundee's relentless march to the title.....
Dundee were absolute crap tonight, despite Mike Tumulty trying to hand it to them on a plate.... He's obviously another member of that select bunch of morons who hate driving up the A9. The penalty and the sending off was a complete farce..... And then to try and give them another penalty in the 94th minute, after 3 minutes of stoppage time had been awarded, well that would really have made a complete mockery of the entire night. Sorry H/Dee - it's definitely "Advantage Caley" at the moment.

Do we have a real chance ?
In reply to the topic title I would say we might never have a better chance.

Do we have a real chance ?
I never saw TB tonight - MM seemed to be in charge, and it has to be said, did a pretty good job. Anyone know where TB was? Watching Partick Thistle maybe?

ICT -V- Airdrie Utd : matchnight thread
Terrific performance tonight.... Could have easily been 7-0, but 4 goals without reply is another very welcome boost for our GD, which could still come into the reckoning on Judgement Day (May 1st) Just can't see Chisholm producing a dramatic turnaround at Dundee.... They should have gone for Robbo!

Just finished watching a recording of Dundee/QoS. Queens were very hard done by with the penalty and sending off, but did really well to stop Dee getting all three points. Big thanks to them - could have done us a massive favour with that hard fought point. Still bugs me watching/listening to these Gaelic pratts chunter away in a language that sounds remarkably like Swahili, but yet can revert to perfect Queen's English, when interviewing the likes of Chisholm, Brannigan or Alex Rae. Why not just do the whole feckin thing in English? I'm writing to the BBC to complain that they're discriminating against English speaking football fans with this crap.

Not that I know of Alex.... but every other game they've shown has been with a Gaelic commentary. I honestly don't think it's fair for the supporters of either Dundee or QoS.... and I'm quite sure you won't find very many native Gaelic speakers among them. Anyway I've got Sky+ set to record all the action - heading off now to TCS with my MP3 player so as to avoid hearing the score from Dundee. I won't know the final outcome until about 11.30 tonight. Wish me luck!

Do we have a real chance ?
Yeah... Good post 12th Man... :022: What a night this could be..... At best....sitting at the top of the table.... At worst... 6 points behind the leaders.

Evening Kick-offs at TCS
And your jealous cos he beat you to it. I wasn't even trying to work it out.... There's been quite a few decent performances in cup competitions played at night to take into account. It's not that long ago we dumped Motherwell out the cup in an evening kick off.

You've just pinched that from Scotty's post...

I said a potential audience of 200,000 - that's based on Alba's own viewing figures. Tonight's game will be watched very keenly by viewers mainly from the Dundee and Dumfries areas. Don't you think it would a nice touch for them if the commentary provided was in a language they could understand? They are after all, paying the same for their TV licence as you are.

Derby Day gudgieometer
I couldn't make it on Saturday, so your comments were welcome and interesting. Disappointed to read of another poor performance from Odhiambo, but I think he's done enough in previous games to warrant persevering with. Also not surprised to read your comments on Duncan.... He's probably been our best, and most influential player since he came back into favour with TB. Often wonder why he was out of favour for so many games early on in the season, when some of our performances were very poor.... But ours is not to reason why.

Alba Telly
So.... If I understand this correctly : A potential football viewing audience of around 200,000 will have their enjoyment of this TV spectacle seriously curtailed just so as your kids' homework might become a little less tedious.

Bit neg JB. Glad the game is on and available to those who ant to watch it. To be honest, I quite often watch with the commentary off anyway as it can be nauseating at times! For the record, there are two wee Gaelic speaking boys in my house who are dead keen to watch it but just wish it was our game. Surely the two Gaelic speaking boys in your house would enjoy watching the match just as much with a commentary in English?

Isn't it great for all these Dundee/QoS fans who are unable to get to Dundee tonight, but who will be able to watch the events unfold as they happen, live on Alba TV? Of course the commentary, expert analysis, etc, will all be in the Gaelic, but I'm quite sure this will only enhance this extra special event - especially for all these in and around Dundee and Dumfries who's native tongue is the Gaelic, and who never got round to learning the English language, or even understanding our culture. Seriously..... I accept that minority interests should be taken into consideration by the BBC, but this is just plain, feckin rdiculous. Sorry Alex.

Very quiet tonight?
I disagree about a sudden change of fortunes for Dundee.... Chisholm could very well be a decent long term appointment - time will tell - I just don't see him as one of these charismatic guys who can bring about instant success. I think about half of the Dundee support might agree with me on that.

Very quiet tonight?
Is it not a wee bit odd that this site has gone very quiet on the eve of a set of fixtures that could see ICT move to the top of Div1? I think there is a very good chance that QoS will take something from their match with Dundee, and that we will overcome Airdrie, hopefully with something to spare. Why is no one saying anything or speculating on tomorrow night's fixtures? Scared of tempting fate?
