Imrie did play on the left deeper than a winger and was totally useless today, Barrowman was rubbish, Cowie was worse than rubbish, Duncan deserved to stay on the park as much as others unless he was carrying an injury. Mike Fraser can be absolved from any blame for this debacle........................it all happened in front of him.........or more appropriately did not happen in front of him. Hastings did one of his fekkk off back to Canada stunts today.....burst down the wing in a promising position and knocked the cross (haha) into the North Stand. McGuire seemed to adapt to the mentor role quite well and helped out Jamie Duff (blooper apart) and Rossco did a power of overlapping again in the second half. Cowie Imrie Duncan & McBain were a non event today and were joined by Barrowman in this exclusive non event club. Is that them all covered....... Black escapes total punishment because he is the most gifted player we possess. Rooney looked the most likely to trouble them, but insufficient backing saw to it that he never troubled the scorers.

I'm too gutted/ pissed to post a sensible reply to the numerous posts on this thread, but Wyness Legend, pick your toys up please, your marks are a disgrace and in no way represent what happened today. Yes it was extremely disappointing but come on. Duff 7.............There was only one person who's mistake swung the game, unfortunately it was Duff. Jamie did ok otherwise but to give him seven when Rossco was busting a gut to bolster the attack is ludicrous. Barrowman deserves his one point though, grim, Imrie as well, Cowie woeful, the list is endless................shocking performance from us and Accies deserved the points for shutting us out. MoM for us.......................as last week, really difficult, but for a different reason..........nobody stood out to be honest.........I will give it to McGuire who at least made the effort to console Duff and offer some words of encouragement, who knows what he said, but at least he was sympathetic to the cause. End product, was our worst display at home ever.

Move Dick inside and stick Jimmy-Jabbi at left back, piece of cake.

Did you mean Cowies run. It was him that ran deep into the Dons half on the break down the left wing while Roy cut diagonaly off to the right before slamming th ball home, just supertastical.
  7. Aye, well done Accies, always good to get off to a flier. Saw bits of the game and they seemed to be well organised at the back, similar to our style once. Might just bring out a few extra fans for the novelty experience on both sides. Right eenuff, clash of the titans.
  8. Whilst taking nothing away from Andy Barrowman as he did very well and stuck away the opener in his first SPL game, I think even he would be astonished to note he has received the same amount of votes as Grantie in this poll. Good as he was, surely his contribution was not greater than Rossco, McBain, Munro, Black, Duncan or Imrie or maybe even Cowie or Hastings. I know we all have differing opinions, but come off it. Have admin checed to see if poll is just. My vote went to Duncan for the record, I thought he came on to a really great game and was'nt he fired up. But it was difficult to call as Grantie did everything as well.
  9. He's going to be a sparky
  10. :thumb04: :018: Did Mark McGhee really say this live on radio during yeterdays game ;) " If that penalty had rebounded out to the referee, he would have put it in the net himself." Dodgy decision apparently, must go and take a look online.

The highlights were fine, they showed that we scored two goals and they scored none. Just how I remembered it. It was a phnomenal run from Roy, from the edge of his own 6 yard box to spot that nobody was overlapping on the right and make the run diagonal, then finish with applomb from 18 yards, just fantastic, what a goal. And a neat reverse pass from Dougie Imrie, simply sublime.
  12. Well done Marius, thumping shot.

His kicking was superb yesterday, really long and all in play I think. Unlike Langfield who sclaffed three or four clearances, one which should have led to a goal for us. His handling was sound. One moment they may have referred to was a chipped cross that was slightly high for him but he fingertipped it to safety, another low ball curving away from him but Hastings took the initiative and cleared the ball anyway. edited to say..........don't you just miss the we reminder that pops up when someone else posts just before you do.
  14. Sure did Junior, and we are still top as Celtic only beat the Saints 0-1

You will need more feedback to get the overall picture. Difficult to crticise anyone after a good away win. We know about our defensive frailties, but McGuire does leave himself open to crticism, and justified I believe, as he does allow the ball to bounce which causes problems when the attacker nips in. He did this last year and Proc was then the scapegoat and was red carded. However, playing as a unit, Grantie stayed deep and marshalled the defence brilliantly leading by example and ticking off guys who stepped out of line, notably McGuire and Hastings. Duncan did a superb job yesterday after his initial burst of slack passes, he started the attack for the goal, and generally kept it simple but effective. Imrie and Cowie were quick to back up Barrowman and Roy played like on Olympic sprinter in the second half. I suppose we started 4-5-1, with Cowie and Imrie in support, Black filled the gap and Duncan mopped up. Rossco looked sharp yesterday keeping the wingers under control. Still, it's only my observations, if others would care to post and complete the picture we will see the gameplan better. Dons ended up chasing the game and we could pick them off at will. Only disappointing feature for me was that we could have lost a goal or two right at the death, even after Roy scored when they hit the post then someone lifted the ball over the bar from three yards. Overall, we were well worth the three points and could maybe have won by more, but I'll settle for that.

Thanks for that stunner Roy, can you buy me a new mobile phone please. When the ball was on it's way to the sweet sweet back of the lovely juicy Dons net, in my youthful exuberance I (and a few hundred others) leapt to my feet and bounced around uncontrolably. At the apex of my orbit, my mobile phone slipped quietly out of my top pocket and landed at Uncle Albert's feet in the row in front... (during the war that often happened). Caley100 did a similar leap and his hands whisked the specs straight off the head of The Mantis in the row behind. (what a spectacle) The specs are OK I believe, but my mobile is fooked, the screen is burst. Anyway, great to see grown men and women united in unison and belief, belief that we will be top of the league (and you're no) even if only for a day, for to stick one on the Dons chin in their own backyard was worth the toothache and six hour round trip. I was there, yes, I was there the day we beat the Dons, something to remember when I am old........hmmnnn. Don't listen to Tangomans downright lies, we were the team in command, moreso in the first half and deservedly took the lead. This involved a ten man move. Duncan nicked the ball around the edge of the centre circle, shifted it across his feet then let wee Blackie take over, he squared the ball to Imrie who in turn shipped it to Rossco. The big man strode forward a few paces then slid a low curved and angled ball into the six yard box, behind the defenders and in front of the keeper, missing five Dons defenders by millimetres in synchronised defending. It made it's way through to Barrowman who stroked it home nicely, bliss, superb end to the ten man move. Second half Don's as expected pushed for an equaliser, but our defenders were having a good day and Mike had nothing to deal with of any consequence. Perfect for us, hit on the counter. Imrie picked up a loose clearance but shot too early maybe, as he picked a spot a yard high of the crossbar. A disallowed goal also from Roy after Barrowman knocked a deep cross back into the box, flag up though. Don's continued to fumble their way forward, we continued to thwart them and our tactics paid off when we broke forward as if Pele was in charge and Roy broke my phone, yes, Roy broke my phone. Fandabbydozy, breathtaking box to box sprint from Roy. McGuire did his best to upset the away support leaving some high balls but Aberdeen were inept. They did hit the post at the death and miss from three yards but too little too late for them, who cares, I don't. Cap'n Grantie roasted a few ears, well done Grantie, keep them on their toes you had a great game today only eclipsed by Russeldinho for me, although as said elsewhere, difficult one to call MoM as everyone played their part. Happy car on the way home with Caley100, Uncle Albert, Caley Stan, Zogg and a mobileless tm4tj purring contentedly. Yep, the cats have all the cream.

We are no all goin to agree on player ratings, but it's always a good guide for others to work from whether we agree or disagree. So here is mine Fraser... :015: :D ...Solid when required, handling and kicking was pretty good, unlike the Don's dodgy kicker. Tokely... :P :021: :D :D ...I thought he had a solid game and kept the Dons wingers mostly in check and provided a great ball in for the first goal, found time to get forward and overlap. McGuire... :D :D :o ...He will be the subject of much discussion this season, but overall he did OK, but he should have attacked a couple of balls better but allowed them to bounce through causing much grief at times. Munro... :D :D :D :D ...Captain courageous today, immense in the heart of the defence with timely interventions and clearances, the right man for the job today. Hastings... :D :D :D ...Like Tokely on the left fairly sound game today, still prone to hoof it when keeping possession looked to be better options, but as part of a defensive unit he played well. Cowie... :D :D :D ...Again not one of his best games, but nevertheless still worked extremely hard and did nothing wrong really. Black... :D :D :D :D ...This guy is a giant, kept his temperament in control and just simply ooooozed class. Duncan... :D :thumb04: :018: ;) ...Russeldinho started off in loose mode, but by the end of the game he was in superstar mode, brilliantly setting up the attack for the first goal with blocking tackle and quick feet, well done my MoM for today. McBain... :D :D :D :D ...The invisible man was quiet in the first half but had a stormer of a second half, he made lots of deep runs and scored a great goal.....with his right foot, well done Roy, keep this up for another season please. Imrie... :D :D :D :D ...Another good day at the office for Dougie, I do like the way he tries to get the fans involved, good lad. Might have done better when keeper duffed his kick out, but he lashed the ball over from eighteen yards, still, good running and kept Dons on their toes going forward. Barrowman... :D :D :D ...As said elsewhere, cheers for that County. Took the goal well........well he took it, was in the right place and thats what striking /poaching is all about, also held ball up well when isolated at times.
  18. I believed you believed and I believe your belief was believed to be correct. (believe that if you like)
  19. .............and for a certain, we're top o' the league and you're no thread

Now let me think...................I've thought and we will not have a full house for Hamilton game, probably around 4000. Therefore with only 900 tickets left for the testamonial, I'l go for the Liverpool game to have more.
  21. tm4tj replied to Alex MacLeod's topic in Caley Thistle
Well, he was certainly a Captain yesterday, one of his best performances ever, leading by example and giving everything for the cause. He did a good job at shouting down Hastigs and McGuire at times when they stepped out of line. He just showed yesterday, he is the real man for the job.

Strangely enough.......... The heading in todays Courier is:- Caley Thistle boss believes youth team products have the chance to show their potential this season. And an even bigger heading is:- Young players can do the job-Brewster
