  1. A recruitment drive by CJT for what Dougal? We've thrown whatever weight we can behind any initiative that the Club has talked to us about and will continue to do so, but it is the club that sells season tickets, not CJT. As it stands, we have more members than ever who provide a mandate for doing whatever we can to maximise the exposure and uptake of season tickets to the benefit of the supporters and the club. If there's more that we should be doing, please tell me. Every season (it would seem) starts with the same dissatisfaction at the ST uptake and size of crowds in general, but I really think that you have to look at the wider community and question what reasons they have for not buying in. I have, and there are precious few common threads that appear to link reasons for non attendance. Yes there are still too many kids in OF jerseys. Yes there are still people who question the value of the "product" but it is what it is. I could spout stats all day on this, but the most important on is that our ST position is roughly static over our SPL/ SPFL history, as is our home attendance. It would seem that indicates a fairly stable market share that will improve when more kids filter upwards to become the ST holders of the future, and that's where any recruitment drive needs to bear fruit. It's a long game. At least (unlike others) our position is honest, transparent and open. Our numbers may not rise dramatically, but the quality of the support does, and that's something to major on.
  2. I'd just like to echo LG's thoughts on this one. Its a huge commitment to run these buses week in week out and to maintain as much enthusiasm as Liz did was remarkable. Football fans always seem to be able to step up to the mark, but as LG says, we are going to have to establish a rota system for the buses so that no one gets saddled with that kind of workload on their own, and put together a clear bus policy so that everyone can work as well as Liz did. Volunteers out there? Anyone? Seriously if you can help us out, give me a shout with a PM so that we can share the load. In the meantime Liz, thanks a million on behalf of CJT
  3. Sad, sad news. Gem of a bloke and a great Caley Thistle man. Will be especially missed on away days. I kind of understand where the club are coming from here, but if there is a "one mikey diamond" song, I'll be joining in. RIP.
  4. Did I miss the news that Richie had been tried and found guilty of anything? Foran was dropped for the last match anyway. As far as I can tell from Terry Butcher (in the press) Foran had a slight injury and was rested, not dropped.
  5. Jnr, it was nice knowing you..................
  6. Honestly Al, I think he would struggle to get a place in this team ahead of Vincent, that seems to be evolving into a quick passing side that has real penetration (ooer) He would simply be too slow and too injury prone. He could see a pass though, and that left foot was like a hammer. If we need a holding mid, Ross Draper is yer man. See you tonight and we can discuss it for about 9 hours!
  7. Certainly heard of Shelvey again and the wee guy in the midfield - Spearing - to name but two, but it didn't define "glamour" to me.
  8. Re: Forres tactics. They are a physical side who were off the pace of ICT, had chased all of the game and the three poorest challenges were as a result of going in late in the 2nd half when they were fecked. No great complaints (or punches!) from our side. Another solid display, things are looking good for this time of year so Elgin on Saturday could be fun.
  9. Tade and Cludge. Something apt about that.
  10. I think all Alex was saying was that we already have a goalkeeping coach in Steve Marsala, who is one of TB's closest advisors. That's all.
  11. Do tell! does it involve alcohol or shagging? Knowing IHE, probably both. Simultaneously.
  12. I wouldn't want to condone singing pro IRA songs anywhere, never mind at our ground but I had to feel sorry for the young lad who was unsuccessfully prosecuted last season for just that. The guy had sung the same song without challenge for years, but his real mistake was to wear a white tee shirt and be visible enough to single out to Police Officers who the Sherrif labelled "unreliable" in some of their evidence. The fans post trial comments that it had been "the worst year of his life" rang true. Don's as right as the Dundee Sherrif who reckoned the Legislation "mince". It's simply there to further demonise footie fans of all hues and it does need to be challenged - but only if you know what you are getting in to and are prepared to take on that fight. Instead of mourning that the age of banter is past,or getting into bother, write to your MSP and tell them - forcibly- that they have got this one wrong. Who knows, then it might change.
  13. No. It's "a cracker!" I think I'll mosey down later and get one in time to make an erse of myself (again) at football this week. Ach well.
  14. We were specifically requested not to use that term because we had been warned by the Police that they would prosecute if they could prove that any of our fans had used it. They would have charged people under the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications Act (Scotland) 2012 and it was sensible to warn people of the possible consequences of this. As luck would have it, The Police were putting their faith in an increasingly discredited and in its self quite discriminatory bit of Legislation that has survived no real legal challenge to it. It has failed and it merely reinforces the fact that the majority of chants at football matches are banter and need to be taken this way - a fact recognised by football fans but sadly not by the po faced PC Legislators and their overly keen enforcers. The SFA slant is put forward by Stewart Reagan, who stresses that "Scotland does not have huge issues in this area" but then says "But we still have that unacceptable behaviour. It still goes on. We know that clubs try their very best, particularly with sectarian issues, but when you've got 10,000 people behaving in a way they shouldn't, then you ask what more can be done". If you are talking about 10K + suppports continually being offensive in a sectarian way, there are only two Clubs in Scotland that have that kind of support and "history", and both reside in Glasgow. I suspect that in joining the po faced, Mr Regan's rules will be just as legally dubious as the Law, but I would say that if there need to be rules governing Celtic (especially the green brigade) and Rangers and their "assembly", then have the cojones to come out and say it. Leave the rest of us to banter that does not harm to anyone, because sectarianism just doesn't interest us.
  15. It's especially not easy when you're 54 and didn't expect to play. Believe me....my legs do!
  16. So much respect for this. Well done sir.
  17. Great piece of news, even better piece of business. I suspect we've yet to see the best of him.
  18. That gets photo of the year award!
  19. This is not true. I've talked about Europe with Kenny Cameron (and other members of the Board) and at no time did anyone hint that that they didn't want Europe, never mind say it. They were making tentative plans to sort out the logistics of fulfilling any fixture we might have qualified for, including transport arrangements and how to fund them. There was no point that I witnessed Terry say it was "a blessing" that we did not qualify in any of the media interviews that I lugged into after the game on Saturday. He did say that the Club wasn't really geared up for Europe but if you asked St Johnstone, they would say exactly the same thing. They still wouldn't swop it for anything and neither would we if we qualified. The stuff about "the chairman only cares about the money" is the kind of quote that you can get from any manager across the Leagues at any time. Its a bit sad that one day one from the best display from our fans that I or most others can remember, this unfounded conspiracy theory stuff comes out.

    The inquest

WE finished behind the runaway leaders, an undisputed second best side and then a St Johnstone side that it was almost impossible to seperate us from (results wise) all Season. we are where we are an its probably around the right place.
  21. Terry might know something about that... broke his toe What, did he trip on the way to the shower? Mate, much as I don't want to grace this with a reply, someone trod on his foot, brok his toe. simple.

    The inquest

This makes my blood boil. This ICT team has improved immeasurably this year and has eclipsed teams like Aberdeen and dundee United and It's because the other teams are poor? really? We have improved because we brought in better players, played better football and beat teams that were previously able to match us simply because we had got better in a league where the football has been of a better standard than many previous years. And if you could tell me what this "souness revolution" was, I'd be happy.
  23. injured in training
  24. Terry might know something about that... broke his toe
  25. What utter rubbish. I could count at least four occasions when ICT players were haranguing their colleagues because passes or shots didn'y come off. There might have been a lack of quality in the important parts of the team or in crucial arteas of the pitch but there was no ICT player who either "bottled it" or didn't care and was a "passenger". Cheap post.
