Larger fan base and higher salary, yes, although they have one of the lowest average attendances in their league at sub 10k More potential, not at all. They are in the highest league they will ever be in in the forseable future. They have already been turned down becasue the board lacks ambition. Almost every club in their league and many below are larger than them in terms of fan base. They will never qualify for Europe or be in the chase for a major honour anytime soon. There is far more potential at ICT. may be so , but they are still in THE CHAMPIONSHIP. all spl players( victor wanyama apart) and managers( possibly lennon apart) dream of playing/ managing in that league because the premiership is beyond them. the championship is the promised land now for many. (did'nt murphy from motherwell, who is one of this years top spl players,go to a league one team sheffield utd last week, not good enough for the championship ?) tel would be a fool not to go if offered the job. this year with our good form our players and management team have put themselves in the shop window. if terry stays here and our team breaks up whether in the january window or summer window , he will then be back to scouring the lower english leagues for players, trying to persuade them to join a club with the lowest budget in the spl, a league that most in england dont rate. previous players like tansey, cox, gillet etc could not get back to england quick enough. just heard although some on here may have heard already that andrew shinnie is in pre contract talks with aberdeen. starting the break up of our best ever team.???? can tel be bothered starting over again in the summer, when jones, draper, raven who have raised their profile here, start getting offers from down south. as alan preston said on tonights bbc news " butcher has probably taken inverness as far as he could have taken them" time for another challenge ?

I would agree that it seems as if we might be losing someone if we are trying to bring in another defender. Apart from Hogg's long term injury, and the longer he is out, the less his chances seem for him to make it back to full fitness, we still have King recovering from injury. So why another import, unless someone is leaving? it may be the fact that only st mirren and dundee have a worse defensive record than us Pos Team Pld W D L F A Pts 1. Celtic 21 13 4 4 40 15 43 2. took 3 mates with me who have only been to a couple of games earlier in the season. persuaded them to come as i was waxing lyrical about the team. second half the ball was in the air more than on the ground. we couldnt keep it for more than 2 touches. county were hoofing it at us and we were kicking it anywhere we could. 2 bits of quality in match billies goal and vigurs lob. take it from me we lost the three again, as we left they said "we are not coming to watch that p1sh again." was the undersoil heating faulty. that pitch contributed to a poor spectacle. what is the point of having heating and not using it. was it because this was not an SPL game and we are not instructed to use it. luckily this game was not on tv, would have bored the pants of anyone watching

Being as ICT are a very young club most ex players are still playing or coaching. Proctor was at Celtic though. I saw Mike Teasdale there on Saturday. He even entered the sport bar pre-match too. I've seen Barry Wilson there a few times when he's not been playing through injury or whatever. Richie Hart too used to make games. Mike Noble is still actively involved with the club looking after the macots etc and even John Robertson, even when not involved with media tasks, makes games when he can. There are others too that I've seen around the stadium on match days. In short, many former players have frequented our games. Darren Dods used to be spotted regularly amongst our fan-base, especially away from home. There's also those who support the club from afar. I'm sure Caley Jags Away Supporters Club can vouch for the likes of Juanjo!! Personally I don't think any former player should be questioned as to their attendence. They've done their time for the club, reaped the plaudits (and in some cases the sarcasm) and no longer owe us. Liam Keogh used to attend often, as do many former youth players as well. It's a shame some question their 'support' once they leave the club. yes but did you see them paying to get in

cost plays a big part. we are £15 a ticket for county replay. aberdeen - motherwell £12. if i look out my front window it goes like this, next door to right celtic fan next door to left rangers fan across the road dundee fan across the road to right hearts fan across the road further to right county fan. further up aberdeen fan one or two others only watch english premier league inverness has grown over the years due to people settling into the area from other parts of the uk with alliegance to other clubs. if i moved to edinburgh/glasgow i certainly would not fork out 20-25 quid a skull to watch another team. in fact if a game is live on tv and ict are not on it i get bored watching and switch off. team playing best football ever just now but you cant demand people to spend their hard earned on football. anyway dont listen to players talking about fans not turning up. ex players are the worst at not going to watch football unless they can get a freebie a few weeks ago on sportcene craig gordon said he was at a hearts game as he got free tickets from a hearts player, the guy must be a millionaire after his multi million transfer from hearts. henry mcleish ex scotland first minister ex east fife player, compiler of report into scottish football confessed to tam cowan on off the bawl that he only goes to east fife because he is a honorary member ( eg freebies) and all cup finals and scotland games he gets freebies plus hospitality from the sfa. how many ex ict players do you see in the crowd on a saturday ah well at least it is minus 9 tonight and not tomorrow.

i am in north stand, did not understand a word he said all day. what was he saying

excellent result. thought hibs had a lot of posession first half as our ball retention was quite poor. could not keep it for more than 2-3 passes. great save for tony from griffiths which may have turned the game. 2nd half --- best i have seen in a long time. took game to hibs time after time. doran seems to have a self belief now. instead of turning back or sideways he now has the confidence to take players on and use his pace. after the suspension of foran and jones earlier in the season the team picks itself every week. keep clear of injury and suspension who knows where this team can go. enjoy it while we can though, the more we win the more players are putting themselves in the shop window ps i sit in north stand far left, family section row p. usually in front of me to row a is empty, but today full of kids that sang their hearts out and even did a celtic - turn their backs. that and the drum made for a great day roll on tuesday for more of the same

excellent report. i also thought the game was low on quality, apart from 2 superb finishes, i was bored for 30 minutes. not helped by what looked like a bumpy pitch. the size of the pitch did not help us either as some players needed a couple of touches to control the ball allowing county in our faces. was looking forward to my first visit to the new stadium. what a let down. i was on holiday when tickets went on sale and got someone to buy for me. believe we were selling the tickets from back to front in sections and would not allow anyone to to get the next section until all were sold. whats the point of having priority for shareholders / season ticket holders if you go at a time when all you can get is row A. come on ict sell side to side next time, starting from the back. i shelled out £50 for 3 tickets and was in row F directly in line with the right side 18 yard line when all was sitting down with straight backs as you would sit in church ( went a couple of times years ago) i could only see as far as the left hand goalpost. every time something happened people would move forward and this created a domino affect so when when mackay was put through and rounds the keeper that was it for me could not see a thing. the stand is too close to the park from where i was sitting so would be interested to know how others saw the game and where they were sitting. certainly not shelling out again to go to dingwall to have a restricted view so looks like only home derby games for me from now on. bonus at the end though when the left over sausage rolls, pies were been handed out for free. excellent haggis pie yum yum. always tastes better when you dont pay

Alex... terribly sorry to deflate your euphoria, but in "results away to the other team" you seem to have forgotten a certain 4-2 to Celtic at the TCS in August. That would make the "results away to the other team" tiebreaker 4-3 to Celtic on aggregate! i noticed this also and was going to post. on a night like this did'nt want to be a " party pooper",never mind there are always other poopers about oops forgot the

had a go at counting the motherwell support today, about 70 ish. we only get near the 4000 when there is a few hundred at the away end. keep saying it you cant force people to spend their hard earned at ict, there is more than footie. at this time of year people also have to support the fat guy in the red suit with the white beard. by the way it was good to see a centre forward like higdon who could hold the ball up, link with others. better than watching our light weight no. 7 lose it most times he gets it. before anyone says he runs channels etc, etc. if he wants to run he should join the harriers, you need more than that to be a spl player. we missed the presence of draper. our team picks itself every week and on the bench we have a bunch of youngsters. very worrying for when we pick up injuries, suspensions in the months to come dont think draper would have made a difference today though. we were outclassed in every position. i wonder if we have had our purple patch ? after yesterday unfortunately another 3 points closer to dundee.

just back from sunny feuteventura and have just watched the highlites. went out on a limb a few weeks ago asking what roberts brought to the team, i dont see why he starts, but may be missing what many others see. glad to see others on here now are starting to question this also

i accept if the game is at hampden, that is where we have to play. but to change venue to your opponents city, that is a ridiculous decision and one as a club we should challenge. cant see us taking a large support, times are hard, people with families will still be paying for xmas. you can see with our home attendances this year that people cannot afford/ are no longer interested in football. i can see it now the chick youngs, traynors and their media mates taking the p1ss as they did the night hardly anyone turned up on a freezing cold midweek for the cup replay at dunfermline, or the stennie game this year, the radio commentator at the penalty shoot out was laughing each time we scored a penalty------ to silence perth should have been the venue, a sell out, great atmosphere. we will be outnumbered about 10-1 in edinburgh. the club should be pushing for travel to be paid out of the gate receipts but to quote kenny cameron in todays courier "playing in edinburgh is a bit extra for our fans to travel .... unfortunately that is the way it is. well kenny unfortunately this supporter and the others from my 4 season tickets will be taking a stance on this one.we always watch ict in edinburgh as i have relatives there and we make a weekend out of it, not this time i am afraid, and kenny "unfortunately that is the way it is"
-
one last thought, if they dont change the venue all our supporters travel expenses should be paid for out of the gate receipts
-
our club need to contest the easter road decision. why are we travelling over 300 mile round trip and hearts just cross the city for 2 miles. other semi is local for both teams. not fair on us especially in the middle of winter. come on ict get the game changed to perth

if we were first out of the hat we should push for game to be played at dingwall

Scottish Cup Draw - Away to Ross County
bishbashbosh replied to PaderbornCaley's topic in Caley Thistle
not quite 50/50. the money for policing, stewarding etc etc comes out of the gate so the home team get more to pay for all this. or 50/50 on whats left over after all above paid is what you probably meant jobby -
herald online quote from killie manager Shiels said: "They have the best player in the SPL at the minute in Andrew Shinnie. He is one I would recommend for Scotland if I had anything to do with it."
-
And only £14 per person on the bus, plus Killie are giving under 16s free entry if accompanied by an adult. The price cannot be the cause of the lack of fans travelling, so.... what's your excuse? i work every 2nd saturday and get 1/2 day leave for home games. not enough leave to get a full day off every second week. cant force people to watch games i am afraid

tel needs to talk to "captain catherine janeway of the star ship voyager" regarding our penalties. when the borg need shooting the first one gets snuffed out but the rest adapt. the phasers need to be set on a rotating frequency. maybe we could do that with our penalties. a shinnie scores then misses the next one, g shinnie scores then misses the next one, billy mckay scores then.................... here's hoping not. we could identify 5-6 penalty takers. when you score you go to the bottom of the list. next player scores goes to the bottom etc etc. would keep goalies guessing where to dive using different players each time. seriously though another excellent win, but scoring the pen before HT would have made life a lot easier. a bit disappointed i will be in canaries next week and miss the hearts game, but at least the motherwell game is on sunday so i will make that one. heres to a win as we are on hols with a jambo and his wife.

Inverness stadium bar may open to away fans
bishbashbosh replied to Caley Braveheart's topic in Caley Thistle
anytime i have been in the bar it has been quite busy. add 50+ away supporters and you end up in long queues to get served. when you eventually get a drink you will then struggle to find a space to drink it in comfort. families use it and it is a nice enviroment to have a drink/juice before or after the game the bar is too small to let away supporters in. -
because it's £21 for an adult and £16 concession ( north stand). far too expensive. there is more than one game in town and football needs to fight others for their hard earned cash. if i did'nt have my season tickets there is no way i would have shelled out 2x21 and 1x16. £58 to watch a game of football, plus over priced coffee, pies , juice, sweets etc, etc. oh forgot after paying that price you get to freeze your nuts off for 90 minutes.

first hour nothing but a stalemate. then we get the penalty and i am thinking up until now neither team looked like scoring, the game had 0-0 written all over it. this is our chance a shinnie the best "footballer" in our team steps up to take penalty. the one he scored against dundee he was rather lucky as rab douglas got a touch to it but not eneough to keep it out. i wondered if that would affect him on this one. he goes for power and the ball was 10ft over the bar, not sure if he even kept it under the north stand roof. after the billy mackay goal we we very good down the left side with g shinnie causing havoc. a shinnie the best " footballer" in our team baloons another chance over the bar from 3 yards. then mackay forces a great save from their keeper. started to wonder if we were going to be punished for not killing off the game. no need to wonder i am afraid. the last 4 or so games i have read on here from posters how good roberts is for us. i have kept my powder dry until now as i did not want to draw the wrath from others on here. i thought after a good goal against du he would push on. i asked tmfj at half time what he thought he brought to the team. he waxed lyrical about the boy. today, as in the last couple of games i thought he was a passenger, we were playing 10 against 11. please dont shoot the messenger but he doesent go past the full back, he cant hit the byeline, he cant control a throw out from our keeper. he doesent contribute much from what i can see. hence the reason he got hooked again today. tel could have taken him off after 5 mins probably my expectations are now too high afer the last few results but very disappointed to lose a cheap goal at the death

a game of two halves. excellent first half, doran should have killed the game when through on fraser, ended up passing to him when he really needs to do better. give county credit they totally dominated 2nd half against our ten men. roberts was just a passenger 2nd half, clearly not fit and looked like rabbit in headlights most of the time. standing around doing zilch is not what is required in a derby game. should have been hooked early in second half, cant believe he stayed on so long. thought we were better when morrison came on to shore up the midfield. at the end of the night an excellent 3 points
