  1. Scarlet, it is Rangemore Road to the right of the High School crossing Dochfour Drive to Caledonian Road.
  2. The last time I was up there that was a huge pile of ground and rubble!
  3. Spent a lot of my wages in that shop!
  4. There is not much in Dalneigh, the High School looks new and there are no houses on the west side of Laurel Avenue, looking at the block 21-27 it looks as the roof is half slated and others beyond look under construction. Could you imagine how many houses Macrae or Tulloch would have built there!
  5. Not an old foggie yet but not on facebook, keep them coming!
  6. Next week will do for me as long as it is not us!
  7. Another great performance and 3 points after the first 10 minutes despite all the fouls by united! Must have been our best home game since Hughes took over as my son did not stand up and shout at him throughout the game
  8. Gordieict, that says it all for me and many others no mater what happens my view on independence will not change!

    THE DANCING

Didn't see many of them in the Hayloft!

    THE DANCING

Must have been a good tail wind! I remember giving a work colleague who was a non driver a lift back from Edinburgh on the old A9 in my Ford Corsair reaching speeds up to 100mph. He was terrified and asked to stop for a drink in Newtonmore. What I didn't tell him was the speedometer was reading about 30mph to fast!
  11. A very legitimate question because I really don't see any solution emerging from that half billion pound talking shop at Holyrood. A very legitimate question which you haven't answered! I think I have, inasmuch as I have suggested that the calibre of politics in Scotland at the moment is such that I really just don't see any satisfactory solution at all. (PS - is it OK to say things like that again or am I still in danger of being dragged before the Uncaledonian Activities Committee of the referendum era to be sentenced to five years in the St Kilda Gulag for preaching seditious "negativity" and "anti Scottishness"?) No Charles this is not your tough Tories in power here, 2 years reduced to 1 year with good behavior will be enough. Now I am away to have my haggis

    THE DANCING

Yes, the glory days of the Hayloft. Never to be forgotten, although I think they served Skol lager for a while which wasn't great. Skol lager, the bar was swimming with it and if you stood to long in the same place you stuck to the floor!
  13. Caught big one there Charles

    THE DANCING

I knew it as the Hayloft was only in it once and never went back again! I think it was called the Gateway at one time. The Domestic Discount Stores is now Lochgorm. The lorry is a Seddon and the car is a Vauxhall Victor.
  15. Away and don't be daft Alex at £2 per journey for a year you would be lucky to get half a mile of dual carriageway! And the SNP got rid of the last of the tolls.
  16. Good preview - but no mention of Gollum as ref, who is our most dangerous opponent You were right there Macduffer!
  17. Money a big factor for this one as it is a huge game for pride but that it as it it a friendly and would you pay 60 quid for that Money is the main factor 2 big games in 4 days that's £100 plus beer and travel and accommodation if you are from out with the central belt.
  18. Great 3 points today the break has not affected the team this time, Dundee United will be a tougher test next weekend, looking forward to the game.
  19. I left early yesterday morning for meeting in Glasgow city center had slower run down with lorries doing 40mph. My boss flew up from Southampton and left after me! Return journey was slightly quicker. Keeping to the speed limits as I was the average speed cameras would have reduced the journey times by about 10 minutes if the lorries were travelling at 50mph. There was delays of about 10 minutes on the way home at the road works which will get much longer once the real works start. Reading the P & J today the group opposed to the cameras are suggesting using the A82 and the A96 to avoid the A9, the advice if you stay at the east side of Inverness use the A96 to Aberdeen then the A90 for Perth. What planet are they on?
  20. That's an easier one The Jolly Drover, demolished a few months ago and houses being built on the site at present. A very busy pub in the days of Mcdermotts!
  21. With it being lunch time kick of at the last game I had a Steak Pie £2.30 and Tea £2.20 Next time I will just have a late breakfast and get dinner when I get home.
  22. These old photos from IHE's album are great! The tannery is the small chimney 2/3 up on the left, the large black hangar was latterly used by Macrae & Dick for storing new cars, I cant remember if it was demolished or built round, I will have to go and have a look now! Where the plane is on the grass is where Malpplebeck car scrap yard was, a busy place in the late 60's and early 70's. that also looks like railway wagons on the harbour, I remember the old rails crossing shore street to the old coal yard. Way of topic now
  23. Was there not a power station down near the old baths at one time? It looks like it could be not that I remember but I recall someone talking about one.
