  1. Maybe so and it looks like both should have been sent packing. But this is where the thought of "Keep the Head", smile and walk away comes in to play. Not easy to do for most but should be the instinct of a professional footballer playing for a team in great need of discipline, example and togetherness. Surely one for the compliance officer to look at closely. From that clip it was clear that Ciftci pole-axed Warren with a forearm smash to the back of the head.
  2. 2 points dropped. Like a bad dog owner we couldn't hold on to a lead. Our defence all at sea for their first and third goals. Saying that Killie got lucky and were helped by poor refereeing. MacLean paid more attention to his spray foam settings instead of picking up blatant elbowing and shirt holding by McGennis and Pasquale all the way through the game. Nick Ross was also fouled before the free kick for their second goal. I agree that our attacking faded in second half. Marley needs more help up front and it was too soon to blood Calum Ferguson.
  3. Yes, all initiatives to increase the crowd are welcome especially as there will be no live TV coverage. However, I thought that the TV companies and SFA were a bit hasty in deciding on which games would be transmitted live. They should have at least waited until after the Berwick v Spartans replay last night. There again when did they ever have any common sense? By the time the quarters are played we will be the only team of the eight not to have benefitted from live TV revenue. We have been shafted yet again by the Central Belt monopolists!
  4. That's another 2 points Beaton cost us. We would be top if it wasn't for him. BBC highlights attrociously short - less than their own website. Yet we had to endure more from the League Cup semis after full highlights of the first one on Saturday night and a live game between the dark forces of evil yesterday. More bias against the clubs in the Highlands.
  5. Our usual slick passing game spoiled by our own pitch today. Roll on the new 4G surface. I thought Marley did well for first 60 mins but we dropped back so far after that point that Ross and Williams offered little support. County's misfits/loanees somehow managed to get it together and grab a point. Motm Tremarco's mis-tackle on half way led to their goal. We weren't helped be another inept performance from ref Beaton either.
  6. Apart from the first 10 minutes we were well in control. It was 2 going on 6 nil. Only our own defenders worried Deano with back passing and Shinnie's miscue over the bar in 5 minutes. Some nice inter-changing of passes between the half way line and Saints box although over-cooked at times. Good to keep the run going and now only 3 points behind the over-rated Dons.
  7. Ridiculous to call it off that late esp with travel issues with weather the week. What is the point of having Under soil heating if it doesn't work properly? I watched that 24 minutes of farce from Ibrox last night, a game that should never have started. Just showed how refs get things wrong. I guess the Huns couldn't afford more than two brushes to clear snow off a pitch given they need £8 million to run the club before the end of this month. Not enough folk in the stadium to help do that either. Lol
  8. I've already paid - £300 for my season ticket. Fine if we get significantly more new fans on the night but the question is how can their interest be sustained? Bring a friend for a fiver and free entry for under 16s doesn't appear to have resulted in a noticeable increase in our gates. On the other hand Stuart Bathgate's article in today's Scotsman on the state of the Scottish game gives a lot of reasons why we and other provincial clubs just can't get enough fans through the gates these days.
  9. It is the Christmas period, so I guess it's appropriate, right?! Argh, predictive text again. Except that it was the men from the east that brought gifts not the other way round. Dons fans seem to think they should have had more - a penalty and us down to 10 men. At least Calum Murray didn't think so but why he didn't at least book Badwillie for deliberately pushing Warren in the back was unbelievable. Draper was sent off for less intent in last week's game.
  10. I think Hughes has lost the plot. His tactical nativity was shown today by not exploiting the weaknesses of that Aberdeen back four. We showed them too much respect instead of getting in and about them. Watkins should have been leading the line with Ross and McKay harassing their back four. Instead we drew back far too deep especially in the first half when Tansey, Christie and Shinnie were chasing shadows. Both Tremarco and Doran were off the pace and should have been hooked at half time. Why did Deano waste so much time pondering what to do with goal kicks? Aberdeen are not that good a team. I was so frustrated with our play that I will not stay sober to be fit to drive and make the effort to go to Tinkerville on Thursday to potentially suffer that again.
  11. Yes, two huge refereeing mistakes letting cheats get away with it and we drop from 2nd to 5th.
  12. 7-1 ffs! No experienced players in there. The 1st team squad were still staggering back from their Christmas bash to Belfast over the last couple of days.
  13. Esson Warren Devine Meekings Tremarco Doran Tansey Shinnie Christie Watkins Sekejja Subs: Brill, Raven, Draper, Ross, Horner, Williams, McKay
  14. Too many players out of sorts today. Our midfield was outfoxed and the defence couldn't handle the pressure. Hughes also culpable with pre-match crap about how he didn't know how to deal with Partick. I still can't understand why Christie didn't start ahead of Vincent. The ref didn't help either. He made some awful decisions in the period before their second goal. At least three free kicks should have been awarded to us before then. The disallowed goal decision at 0-3 down was a disgrace. At least we got that bad result out the way before we play Aberdeen.
  15. Now when have I heard that before? Seriously though, I don't know why he gets the nod over Doran.
  16. Look at St Johnstone's home crowds against teams outside Celtic, Aberdeen or the Dundee teams. 2,000 - 2,500 is their norm and that is after winning the Scottish Cup and taking 14,000 to the final. Difficult to explain that and in a stadium that is close to the A9/A90, has local bus services passing it, is within an hour of most other Premiership clubs and is not in a cold seaside location. If our stadium was to be relocated there is plenty of development land about to be confirmed in the Local Development Plan between the UHI Campus, Stratton Farm and Cradlehall (as 12th Man says above). Once this is linked by the proposed A9/96 road and foot/cycle paths through the area it will help maximise accessibility from the surroundings and to both trunk roads. There is also scope for a rail halt on the Perth line close by. It may be another 5 + years before all that starts to happen but now is the time to plan ahead and put in a claim before it's all taken up by house builders and a business park. I should also point out that 10-15 years of upgrading the A9 will lengthen the journey for away fans traveling north and, with regard to switching to summer football, the A9 is also much busier during weekends in the summer. In the more immediate future therefore it seems that the initiatives the club are trying and more persistent persuasion by existing fans coupled with the team continuing to excel at the top end of the league are our best hopes of boosting attendances. However, it would help a bit if all clubs and the SPFL agreed to reduce admission prices.
  17. Sorry, didn't pick that up from the thread title and was on holiday when it was posted. In any case the fixture list on this site still has it as Saturday 27th.
  18. I've just seen the BT Sport schedule for the next 9/10 weeks. It has our next home game versus the Dons on Sunday 28 December on BT Sport 2, at 3pm. This is 24 hours later than on our fixture list. This will no doubt spoil some folks' travel plans for the festive holidays. Relatives on mine go back south again that day and had been planning to go to the game on the Saturday. Fortunately it is too early for wasteful purchasing of match tickets. Sunday football is not a favourite of mine as the team rarely performs well and the attendance is usually much less than if it takes place on a Saturday. Bah, humbug!!
  19. Too short notice for many. It happens every season though and not for the benefit of the locally based fans either.
  20. I said it many times last season and I will keep saying it until Yogi gets the message, why is Vincent in the team ahead of Watkins? Once again Vincent was ineffective.
  21. Big disappointment IMHO. A poor imitation of an old PSG top that looks like a giant zipper up the front. I hate striped socks and there is no black in it.
  22. What is it about manufacturers of sports kits taking ages to deliver their products to the customers. Whether it's football, rugby or bowls tops they all seem to be the same. Our bowling club started discussions with Kukri in July last year about new club tops. It then took them until the first week in May this year to process our order, manufacture and deliver the shirts - 10 months ffs and for an order of only 28 shirts! The other problem we still have with the shirts is that the sizes are two sizes smaller than they should be. That goes for most kit suppliers, particularly Errea, Diadora, Macron and Kukri.
  23. Good result but looks like Forres a bit rough on us again - three injuries! Billy really has to re-learn to take penalties or give them to someone else.
