A sad way to end his time at ICT but, after the conviction, the end result was inevitable and correct. The club were left with no alternative and no one is to blame other than the player himself. Personally, I would have been inclined to suspend him and wait for the sentencing hearing before dismissing him but I am not going to criticise the club for acting quickly and decisively since the end result was in little doubt. I don't think that he could have remained at ICT but I do believe in rehabilitation where appropriate and, while I think that any finding of rape or sexual assault should, quite properly be career ending for a professional footballer among numerous other professions, I think that this case, serious as it is, does allow for him to try to rebuild his career elsewhere. That said, he has to be punished first and to demonstrate a clear understanding of just how wrong his conduct was and to display genuine remorse.

I could see a scenario where we do quite properly stand by a player convicted of assault. For example, if someone is perhaps assaulted in the street and lashes out once in retaliation. However, subject to anything new that emerges at the sentencing hearing, Calder's actions appear to be much too serious for us to take that view. It should be noted that the Magistrates Court that heard the case referred the matter to the Crown Court for sentencing which suggests that they view it as too serious a matter to continue to be dealt with at Magistrates Court level.

He is not making any excuses as far as I can see but simply advocating the prudent course of waiting for the judicial process to be concluded before the club takes any final action. I agree with that. Where I disagree with DD is that I personally find it very difficult indeed to think of any factors which may emerge at the sentencing which would persuade me that he should not have his contract terminated based on the information already in the public domain. We already know that this was not a momentary lapse but a sustained and brutal assault on a woman who had simply accidentally damaged his car. Not the sort of conduct that can be in any way excused.

Fans are not employees of the club and the club does not have to have regard to employment law when dealing with fans. What s more, a fan would not be disciplined by the club in any way for a criminal offence wholly unconnected to the football. Your comparison is completely flawed.

I don't always agree with the current regime but I think that the club are right to wait until the sentencing before finalising their position. However, having pled guilty to such conduct, I do think that he should be suspended in the meantime.

A player that I really like and who has huge potential. However, like it or not, Professional footballers are role models even at our level. I note that the offence, which is a shocking assault, was committed while an employee at our club. With a heavy heart, I am of the view that he has to go. He may not have sunk as low as the disgraceful David Goodwillie but such conduct is not at all acceptable.

An up to date and properly functioning website is a basic requirement for any business of any kind these days yet our club with a seven figure turnover has not had one for months. Surely it not unreasonable for someone at the club, perhaps the CEO who has been in post for months now, to explain why not.

We are generally quick enough to criticise our youngsters for such behaviour. The sort of conduct to be ashamed of at your age rather than boast about online.

I would love to see more women in football but, sadly, she seems to lack even a basic knowledge of the game. There are some pretty poor reporters on Sportsound but she must be the worst.

Very amateurish. On the field we have dropped down a division. Off the field, it sometimes seems that we are back in the Highland League. Christmas is on the horizon and we have no facility for selling merchandise to fans not able to visit the stadium. What a poor show.

A hugely entertaining game where we outplayed our opponents who were packed with Premiership players earning twice what our players are on or more. How on earth did Doran miss that chance towards the end ? Anyway, loads of positives to take from today. The only negative being that the crowd was two thousand fewer than attended the first derby of the season in Dingwall. If the good folk of Inverness want to retain full time football they really need to support the club with more enthusiasm. No lack of support and enthusiasm though from those who were there especially those in the North Stand outsigning the visitors at the opposite end. Onwards and upwards.

Very well said Caleyboy. I actually get the impression that there are a minority of our fans who would rather witness mediocrity so they have something to whinge about rather than success leaving them with nothing to moan about. As Caleyboy says, if you call yourself a supporter then support. True supporters support through thick and thin I think that some have been spoiled by our huge success in the too tier for a decade. We should back the team to the hilt no matter what level we are playing at.

A reasonable point of view. Personally, I would have preferred if he had remained and learned to be a bit more constructive and a lot less abusive.

He is not the most talented or the most prolific forward we have ever had and we possibly need to start someone else. However, does he really need a whole separate thread directed at abusing him. That is hardly likely to infuse him with confidence and is; in my opinion, entirely inappropriate.

I was not at last night's game so can't comment specifically on that but DD makes a very good point in general. There are, of course, negatives, not least the inability to score goals and convert some of these draws into wins. However, when you think back to where we were this time last season, there have to be more positives and negatives. This time last year, we were genuinely concerned that we might be facing successive relegations and were being regularly beaten. Now, nobody fears being in League One next season, we have not been beaten in the league since the Spring and we are genuine contenders for the promotion play offs even if that one automatic promotion place looks a bit distant at present. We could be winning more games but surely less negativity is in order.

White does not have what it takes. That has been very apparent for months now. The only one who can't seem to see it is the manager. White is certainly no Graham Bayne who made up for any lack of natural skill by being one of the most hard working and committed players in our entire history.
