  1. I agree. However, I am far from sure that anyone on the current board has the wherewithal to make it happen.
  2. Agreed. Would be even better if we could get a fairer price for them when, as has and will continue to be inevitably the case, they move on.
  3. If I'd played my final Joker I could have doubled that..
  4. Malt
  5. A poor post but, believe me, it is a very long way from being the worst ever made by this particular poster. Still waiting for Lawrence, or indeed any other Unionist, to explain why the best and most appropriate people to govern Scotland are not the Scots or indeed why they consider Scotland, uniquely among small Northern European countries rich in natural resources and resourceful people, incapable of managing it's own affairs.
  6. As a further warning against complanency, Edinburgh City came back from being two nil down against Alloa today in the Challenge Cup to draw and eventually prevail on penalties. We need the team that turned up in the last 15 minutes in Dumfries if we are sure to progress.
  7. So many draws lately have felt like defeats. This one definitely feels like a win. However, subject to the views of this who were in attendance and well done to them for making the journey, is it legitimate to ask why, on the face of it, we only really turned up after we were three goals in arrears ?
  8. Can someone please ban this idiot, who clearly doesn't know what he's talking about, from posting !
  9. You were reading the scoreline in a mirror when you consulted your Oracle. There is actually part of me relieved that the unbeaten run has come to an end as, this season in particular, it's been a bit of an illusion disguising, to some extent, the fact that we have settled as a somewhat mediocre Championship side.

  11. The offence was committed before we signed him. I have said that, once he serves his punishment, there is no reason why Calder can't resume his career elsewhere. Robertson fell into that category.
  12. What an impressive season they are having. Could be, in the long term, that Barry Wilson will be as fine a signing as a Coach as he (twice) was as a player.
  13. One up on me. I was not at the County game. Obviously had an aversion to Dingwall even as a child ?
  14. I would rather see him sold for several million so that we can benefit from the sell on clause in his transfer to Celtic.
  15. The one I find it hardest to imagine is over 27,000 at Cliftonhill. I imagine that the ground was in a slightly better state of repair than it is these days.
  16. I remember being at Grant Street in 1972 for a friendly between an Inverness Select and Rangers. I think it might have been the last game they played before their Cup Winners Cup final against Moscow Dynamo in Barcelona where their fans disgraced themselves, not for the last time. As I recall, the game ended 5-3 to Rangers. The ground seemed pretty packed but I don't know if an official crowd figure was ever announced.
  17. My late father, who was a Clach diehard, swears that he was in a crowd of 13,000 at Grant Street for a friendly against Rangers. He remembers the the Bobby Bolt testimonial and swore that the crowd for the earlier friendly was bigger.
  18. Record attendance for Thistle 7,550 for a friendly against Celtic in 1972 to inaugurate the then new floodlights at Kingsmills.
  19. Agreed. The best 'keeper in the division and becoming one of the best in the country. One of the main reasons we have now had the longest unbeaten league run in our history. The poor start to his ICT career is a distant memory and a contract extension should be an absolute priority. I would not be averse to using the cash saved by Calder no longer being on the wage bill for that purpose.
  20. Fantastic. Credit to all at the club for ending our run of draws and extending our winning run at the end of what has been a difficult week.
  21. An important match at Firhill today. Time to put this unfortunate matter behind us and concentrate on the football again. End our sequence of draws with three points and we remain firmly in the promotion mix. Players may come and go for whatever reason but the club remains.

  23. Since at least one of them is an unfounded allegation, then perhaps not.
  24. I am genuinely confused about this post.
  25. It's not a reprisal it's a proportionate and reasonable response to disgraceful conduct on the part of the player. We have had players who have committed criminal acts in the past and retained their jobs with the club, Richies Hart and Foran come to mind. However, I can't recall any other player committing such a serious offence as this.
